Craftsman lawnmower won’t start.
Will it run? I was given a free Craftsman LT2000 riding lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton 18 1/2 hp Intek engine. The mower quit running about six months ago while the owner was mowing. Will it run?

All you have to do is disassemble the engine. It is not that expensive to repair and there are many good quality used parts on Ebay. I repaired mine and it is working very well. If the tractor did not cost anything, it is worth fixing. Those engines are good and durable. The problem is not the engines, but rather the owners who do not take care of the equipment.

POS Briggs & Scrappem. 18.5's and 21's Inteks are known for snapping con rods, blowing balancer rods, and blowing head gaskets. Let's not forget compression release levers. Pure junk.

Biggest piece of hammered a$$ f#@k piece of SH^T hot garbage ive ever owned. A literal voodoo curse of a lawnmower. I wouldn't give one away to a person I hated because I don't know anyone I hate THAT much! I worked on that piece of junk once a week always a different problem. I still have it, I don't even want to sell it because I don't want to profit off someone else's misery.

WHy not just repower it or rebuild that engine?

The cylinder wall was damaged to the point it was not worth rebuilding and I didn’t have an engine to swap it out. For the price a used Craftsman mower is selling for in my area, it’s not wort buying a used engine for it. I made just as much selling parts off it as I would have if I would have swapped engines and sold it.
