I love your dishwasher organizing. I also put all the spoons in two compartments, knives in two compartments, etc. That way I can scoop them out all at once and I don't have to sort them. They also get clean just fine. Time saver.

I am so happy I watched this video; I am new to this craft and I have no clue as to what makes dollars and cents when I am purchasing products. Thank you for being honest as to what works for you. Obviously you have been in this art form and know what you are talking about. I appreciate your information.

I only buy what I already use. Not want to you. Not wishful thinking. What I actually use all the time. If I use cloud patterned paper and have 12 sheets, I do not buy any more until I run out. I do not buy anything that is improved or next generation such as a paper cutter unless the one I have is broken I follow a 24 hour waiting period to be certain I really need something. Stores, web sites, videos, blogs, face plant, and all the rest are trying to sell you something you probably don’t need. If it’s trendy, and I really need it, I still wait until the price drops -- trust me, the price will drop, or everyone will review it and you change your mind. Example: Dylusions paint. When it was released it cost more per ounce than top-line Golden, and it dried out, molded, or got funky very quickly. There was a huge amount of sell, lots of confetti, all of it hiding a bad product. [I understand they fixed the formula]. Be honest, know yourself, and your impulse buying habits. When modeling paste was trendy, I had-to-have gonna-die wanted some, so I found a sample jar! Make your own list of rules, print it out tiny, and wrap it around your credit cards. You will not be a better artist if you have more toys... I mean supplies... and you certainly will not improve if you have debt from buying toys you do not use. For me, collecting/hoarding supplies was a psychological way of avoiding the actual work of creating. My personal motto: I only need a pen from the dentist’s office and the inside of a cereal box to make art. What is my excuse for not creating right this moment now?

Oh gosh, if I had all the money back for crafty stuff I’ve purchased over the years that I ended up not liking or using enough. I’ve gotten a lot wiser over the years, and know where to look for the best bargains, and know what I’ll actually use and what’s just a trend. I’ll make one good recommendation - if you can’t get a Tim Holtz stamp platform (I have both the large and small versions), try the Stamparatus from Stampin’ Up, especially if you like layering stamps. It has 4 different sides, so you can set it up and stamp multiple images easily and quickly. It’s about the size of the smaller Tim Holtz platform - about 6” square, but it has 2 open sides, so you can put any size paper in it too. It’s not inexpensive though, but I think the quality is very good.

SERIOUSLY. All that money on a lot of papercrafting gear I didn't fully utilize.... and some stuff wasn't utilized at all. 😳 Like you, I feel like I'm there now too..... realizing that I have a loaded stash to accomplish any project that's really close to whatever's "on trend" at the time. The Unexpected Benefit: This forces me to be more CREATIVE (pun intended) than I would've been if I just immediately bought exactly all the products in a specific project. Now I look at the new products and immediately think, "Are you looking at an item that's really a future eBay listing where you'll only get back a 1/3 of what you paid??" That tends to snap me back to reality and use what I have.... which is a lot. P.S. I agree, the SU! Stamparatus is a worthy investment! I'm using it all the time.

tjl1961and2 OH YA!!! Love mine!! (( I SO can’t believe MSP won the suit against others for patent infringement regarding the Misti. Is it a good tool? Oh ya... Was it too clever for words? I've invested in a few things I never use. Either horrible products, dont work or better way to do what it supposed to do. Punch boards, fuse tool, border punches, paper trimmers and circle cutters. My 1st stamp platform was from Michael's. Dont know the brand. Less than $20. I still use it. It does the job. Got both the Tim Holtz ones I got from Tuesday morning. I use the cheap one the most. I think the Misti is way over priced.

For gosh sakes, it's about a buck to make, if that. So the cheapest is more or less $60? She's got to be kidding. My first, and I'm still using it, is the Hampton stamping platform. Still works great. I have a Tim Holtz one for a backup, but it's still in the packaging 2 years later. LOL

I just saw where Charlotte Smith said not to buy stopper toppers because they bend too easily. It reminded me of when I was about 12 or so and started "crafting". My friends and I would get our Mom's longest needles, thread them and glue the thread as we wound it round and round the top of the needle and then we stuck the gluey top in glitter and sold them for 25cents to ladies as lapel pins. We sold a lot of them back then. The thought is that if you have younger kids (supervise, of course) who would like to make them, you could make your own stopper toppers that would be much stronger.

My nickname is Vancy so I can be your evil twin, Vancy Stamps lol. Real name too difficult so I go by VeeStamps. I think whoever told you to spray mist the shammy was out of their gourd. I first got the cheap synthetic chamois at automotive section in Walmart, cut it up, stored in ziploc and shared with friends. Was nice to grab to quickly clean ink from stamps if I could remember where I last had it. I didn't want to like the S.U. one but it was thicker and softer. Keeping it in the case made it easy to find and store. If it gets dried out, I soak in sink for minute, wring it out and back into case. If partially dry i add water to case until it grows bigger to fit case. When it gets oogy, I toss in washer with my towels. The ink fades but never comes completely off in laundry. I don't have room for multiple microfiber towels and they make me think of kitchen, dishwashing and my Rachael Ray microfiber towels. Chores/housework eek, deflate my creativity. I have come to accept that my personality type wants to try each iteration as long as I get it for discount but I have no qualms about passing those duplicate or unliked things to another crafter. The cost of Misti kept me from buying one. The Tim Holtz one was affordable but I don't get good imprint each time. I am having success with the Stamparatus. Thanks for the video!

I realized I had started watching this and never finished it. Good to know about the Nuvo paste drying out and that the cosmic Shimmer's don't. I do like my simply shammy from stampin Up because for my photopolymers I really like just using water. I do want to get another one and cut it in half or maybe 1/4 sure using it with the stamparatus easier. I take mine to the sink and soak it down which is what you're supposed to do, and keeping it in the case it will stay wet while I'm stamping and often even a week later there's some wet spots on it and it's still soft. I know you like your way with the microfiber towels I just wanted to put that out there for anyone interested in the simply shammy. I totally agree with the scan and cut! If you cut out a lot of stamped images and hate fussy cutting, don't buy Twenty die sets and you've paid for it. I know stampin Up is kind of wise to it now so often there die sets include a few other decorative Swirls and things to make you want the die set for those pieces. I do still kind of want a Cricut maker because it's so future-proof with the various tools that they keep coming out with Engraving, embossing etcetera but the scan and cut does so much that I wonder if it's going to be worth it to get a maker. I did buy the foil thing that goes with the maker that's kind of like the foil quill. So I have to decide quick so I'll know whether or not to send that back LOL

Hey Nancy!!! Did you say you did or didn’t prefer the Glimmer Hot Foil System? Love your energy and positivity!! What foil system does everyone else prefer??

Depends on your die cutting machine. I prefer the Gemini Foilpress because it was made for the Gemini Jr and has adjustable heat levels and timer. I do have the Spellbinder to.demonstrate with the Sizzix, but there is a difference in learning curve.

I bought a bunch the discounted Spectrum Noir sets at ACMoore too. The quality of their ink was pretty good, but not the best. My fave is Prismacolor Premiere, well they’re equal faves with Copic. In lots of reviews I used to watch when I did a lot of marker work, Prismacolor Premiere often edged out out Copic, in terms of ink quality. But for some stupid reason, Prismacolor won’t make refills for their markers. Their markers are really the only competition Copic has, but Copic beats them in sales because of refills and nibs and I think even caps can be replaced. One reason for that refills are important is, yes, you can save money, but it’s better for the environment not to keep throwing away all those those plastic marker cylinders when the ink dries up. We are drowning in plastic. It takes hundreds of years to biodegrade. Thanks for the vid! Good idea to review our stash from time to time and clean unused & unloved stuff & “mistakes.” I use glue runners( Elmers dot runner is my fave) and Elmers Craft Bond in liquid & glue sticks is great along with tried & true Aileen’s Tacky glue and E6000 for heavy duty. It just depends on your particular craft, of course...whether typical card stock, card board or foam...whatever or adhering tricky embellishments.

I have a cut n boss die cut machine. And it’s been a good machine but, It is about 6 years old and getting very tired. I have been waiting to get a replacement machine. And I saw the Big Shot Sizzix Switch machine on you tube and fell in love. But, I not found it yet for purchase. Do you know anything about this new machine? Do you think it’s going to be worth the money? Do you know when we can get it? Oh, by the way I did try the Gemini machine and first after like 2 cuts the plates were a bent mess. And I kept trying to to use it and the it just died! Needless to say I returned it. So I don’t think I would get another one. Not tried the Gemini jr though as of yet. Do you think the Jr. is better than the big Gemini. That is the one I had returned?

Yes different strokes But when someone tries to knock all completion off the market just so they can charge more well that is just wrong! which is why I regret buying the Misti because I don't like to support that kind of person. what if all the crafting industry said wait I made that kind of ink first so you can't do that or only one company could sell red rubber stamps? really there is enough room for everyone we don't need anyone like this Misti person. Im so glad I got my Tim Holtz before they were outlawed!
@marygillmarten6758
@marygillmarten6758 4 года назад
On the other hand, the whole point of registering a patent is to protect one's intellectual property rights for a specific period of time in order to allow the inventor to recoup her financial investment in the design and production of the product. Do you also believe artists should be denied compensation for their designs? Or were you just unaware there was a patient on the Misti that the designer is protecting?
@vlawton100
@vlawton100 4 года назад
@@marygillmarten6758 Mary thank you for your comment I was not aware of the patent how ever I still think it went to far Tim Holtz platform was not the same as the Misti ! I can understand maybe the ones that are exactly like the Misti. I still feel that the motivation was more greed then anything else. which is what upset me because the original Misti was the 1st platform I bought I think I paid a whooping $60.00 for it and then I found I liked some others for different reasons. But for the Misti owner to take that choice away to me was just not good.
@marygillmarten6758
@marygillmarten6758 4 года назад
@@vlawton100 If it were not a patent violation they would not have been able to stop production of the other stamping platforms. You can call it greed if you want or you can call it protection of intellectual property. It's how the business works. The law is such that the Tim Holtz platform was sufficiently like the first Misti that it violated the patent. Had it not, the product would not have been pulled from the market. That's how it works. I personally don't begrudge designers the rights to their work and I don't think other designers do either. Had Tim Holtz wanted to, his people could have tweaked the design enough to satisfy the patient regulations to make it sufficient distinct to qualify as a separate product but they just dropped the concept. Stampin' Up on the other hand developed a sufficiently distinct product that it passed the patent rules. I think the purposes for the patent regulations is a good one so I have no problem with them.

virginia lawton I must say I have to agree with YOU, Virginia. I just watched a demonstration of the T. H. Stamping tool on Y.T., and agree FULLY there were enough innovative features on that machine, compared with the Misti, to have warranted its continued manufacture. In truth, I, too, am in patent violation, for although I couldn’t pull off the T.H. version, nor the Stamperatus version I have and love, I HAVE made A COUPLE of these gizmos with the help of cheap, flat-framed, document frames, duct tape, and fun foam sheeting!! When the desire to be creative hits, innovation WILL triumph! (And I think I got all the pieces & parts for under 10 BUCKS!!).
@kkrolf2782
@kkrolf2782 4 года назад
Mary Gillmarten tjl1961and2 I agree with you, Mary, TO A POINT... however... I can’t believe MSP won the suit against others for patent infringement regarding a product as BASIC as the Misti. Is it a good tool? Oh ya... Was it too clever for words? Definitely ... in its inception. HOWEVER...Those that came after took innovation TO THE NEXT DEGREE, and SO deserved the sales gleaned thereafter, AND MORE!! When the others lost the right to sell their stamping “machines” it was like saying the Model T should never, EVER, become a Hybrid with an automatic transmission!!!)).

Kimberly Bobovecz Does ANYBODY do tutorials on their DESIGN ‘n’ CUT?!?!? With my ‘puter guru fella’s help, we managed to print out a dozen duplicates of an image I wanted, but (a) I had to first duplicate them on my copier, ‘cuz I couldn’t determine how to make the DnC do it, and (b) it then proceeded to cut out 2 tiny imperfections in one of the images. The images i took were solidly black (‘cept, apparently for the one), but my next question is how do I get the ULE to cut JUST the outside periphery of an image that is more of a line drawing?!? I do REALLY want to learn this machine!!
