I think when Craig invited Bill to be on the show, he knew very well where Bill would attempt to steer the conversation. Craig knew that, and when Bill brought up politics, Craig wasn't playing that game.
I think these kinds interviews where they (playfully) go at each other are quite entertaining, actually. You don't really see that much on other shows. I thought this went fine (and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't really like political comedy).
sbjaved Who knows how far Craig's rep goes. The man gets along with practically everyone. Right guest or not Craig gets them all to have a good time. A rare treat to see some of these personalities truly let go and enjoy themselves on this show. I miss it so much :(! At least Graham Norton is still on. The only other talk show I like as much.
Yeh.. Craig's interest is sex and Bill's is politics and they each get annoyed when the other is brought up. So they spend all the time annoyed with each other and pretending to be tolerant.
it looks like maher can't handle not being in charge here. i like some of his stuff but i think he can't really hold a candle to ferguson's quick-wittedness
ashitakaharuo I think that has little to do with why he had that attitude. Based on his interviews, and his show, I think Maher just despises too much generalized small talk. He probably sees little to no value in *constant* chit-chat, and prefers to talk about more serious issues. If the issues aren't going to be talked about in honesty, he'd rather not have the conversation at all.
my favorite thing about Bill Maher is how he says these incredibly offensive things on these talk shows and the audience is all *gasp* and he's always all "what?" I genuinely love that.
craig handled this perfectly. i like maher but craig kept things light. this isn't the forum for the depressing political machinations we are subjected to.
"That's the great thing about coming on your show; I burn no material." Well, yeah, after that thing you said about Michael Jackson the last time, Craig won't *let* you do your material.
I don't think he cares how many wives someone has per say. He cares, like me and many others about hypocrisy. Conservatives shove traditional values down our throat but they do whatever they please. I say live and let live and let s all be good citizens.
The great thing about Johnny Carson that he kept his personal political views to himself and overwhelmingly this is what Craig Ferguson did too that’s how it should be, every late night talk show host still will Criticise Trump 18 months after he left office but will not deal with Biden with his senility, incapacities and fragility of his administration.
Rick Santorum is pretty bad, but at least a crazy business man who was on a reality show and has crazy hair will NEVER run, right guys? Guys.........oh god dammit.
CaptainGrumpy Do you know the average loan for a small business is? The Small Business Association reported in "the average loan given out for a small business is $250,000 from 2000-2015." When looking at the data $1 million to start up a business isn't that much. Above the average, but not that much when looking at other businesses. Politifact called "John Oliver's statement of Drumpf as false." The Telegraph reported "John Oliver makes up a last name for Trump that never existed." The Guardian reported, "John Oliver misleads the public on Drumpf." I know most young adults in my generation get their news from late night comedians with dyed hair wearing some thick glasses, or reading some stupid blogs on Reddit. The reason why so many people in my generation have been easily mislead by a massive liberal late night.
@AnodyneNo you know what, I'm routing democrat (Obama 2012) but, out of all the republican, i honestly think (and I'm biting my tongue very hard saying this) that Ron Paul is the most straight, non conflicting, and great republican presidential asset. But I guess that the party just like the drama of having the others tearing themselves apart (No disrespect) and I agree with you, if a more serious and fair race to the white house should be in place, Ron Paul is the perfect candidate...
I ain't sh1t now but years ago i was a travelling comedian. Take this for what that's worth to ya... The reason professional stand up comedians have a problem interviewing Maher and it gets uncomfortable is Maher isnt a comedian. If he doesn't have an easy set up in a room where he controls who gets to watch, he struggles. Dont take my word for it either. Search out who in the comedy community speaks on it and what they say. He's clown shoes. Great channel tho ❤ subscribed
Bill Maher thinks he's great while many of us think he just a jerk....Never understood why any one would watch his show but I guess it takes all kinds of people.... Craig is my favorite talk show host by far!!!
@669ELGUAPO Lol, you know what, I agree with you. And again, I'm all democrat. My opinion was an hypothesis where we only had to pick one of the four republican, I think that Ron Paul is the guy. The other 3, the minute the would take the hypothetical office, will start wars, worse then the ones that the Bush administration started. Which will impact the economy, and put us back to where we were in 2006-2008 - Again, i'm not disagreeing with your points, they all make perfect sense to me!
Bill didn't drop his political shield down. Well maybe coz there are morons out there who'll hold on to what he said on this show too. Craig steered the interview just right way with his wit and humour. Mismatched pair, but somehow worked.
***** Okay yes.. you hurt my feelings.. all one of them. I am crying here trying to hold myself together... why do you have to be so mean???!!! Feel better? Good. Now go away. lol :P
+Phillip Pitman Thank you for that completely unoriginal question. We all heard Jack Welch ask it on Leno. What exactly would an answer to that question prove anyway? It's just a bullshit red herring. Even the most radical egalitarians in the world allow for some degree of inequality (and Maher is hardly radical). The question is how much inequality? And what principles (roughly speaking) should govern the distribution of wealth in a society? Libertarians (such as yourself, presumably) say that self-ownership should be the governing principle -- i.e. "what's mine is mine. Everyone else can go fuck themselves." Others prefer sufficientarian, prioritarian, or egalitarian principles (and there's plenty of room for justified inequalities even within a robustly egalitarian conception). So even if he answered your question, it wouldn't tell you anything about his views.
There no such thing as inequality. Only people who either negotiate how much they are willing to sell themselves for and those who get others to sell themselves for their benefit. Having the government force their way into a business to make employers pay people more or low wage low IQ or uneducated people having the government force employers to steal money from others to give to them is wrong. Furthermore I don't watch or worship TV icons. And just because you use big words doesn't make you smart or right. What I know about this blowhard is he's all talk and no show. I'm sure the people that work behind the camera on his brainwashing hippie show get paid what everyone else in the business gets payed. So if he was for equality they'd make far more. What did he ever do to deserve a high paying salary except puke fowl nonsense and get high and drunk. Why am I even arguing with you your just come back with the same shit. But what you don't realize is that what you and your progressive movement have done is built a government where they control every aspect of our lives. So fuck off yippie.
Yep so I have done manual labor my whole life. From drywalling and painting to driving forklifts and loading and unloading trucks and working in grocery warehouses lifting 40,000 pounds a night.
Bill is not a libertarian. He's a democratic socialist. He wants big government to force his and their agenda on everyone whether they like it or not. You can equate everything in the democrat party to slavery. If you don't know what I'm talking about then let me explain it. They believe just like slavery that they get to decide every aspect of my life. The federal government owns everything so they decide and control everything. Education healthcare frees peach religion. You name it the democrats want a say in it. Conservatives on the other hand just want the Feds to leave us alone. They can intervene when my rights are being stepped on and that's it.
Maher's a comedian and didn't grow up silver spooning it - he's made jokes about extreme wealth and poverty alike. I don't interpret the body of his public oratory/performances as hypocritical, but egalitarian in his approach to take the piss out of anyone. I doubt he really hates and is so mono-sighted about the US south as he has traveled all about the country. He has made jokes that inherently generalize females as diamond-obsessed, but lambasts males for being all lame and whatnot as well.
You have heard remarks Bill Maher has made in the past ... sleezy language and gross imagery... I think peoples fascination with him is that he goes too far and appears to get away with it... A professional insulter...
Why on earth should employers provide birth control for women. That's an elective thing, that they can take if they have a hobby of letting dozens of dudes blow loads in them. That's not the boss's, or the taxpayer's, responsibility
Well to be honest people if like half the people here do not like Bill Maher than no one is making you watch a video with him in it. I'm sure you all would have better things to do.
@Cris0rtiz its the middle, undecided voters that win elections, and ron paul doesnt appeal to those people, people with savings and bills to pay, dont like people talking about such drastic changes,
