This is a good example of the differences between an analyst and a coach: Analyst = looks at past results; Coach = recognises and nurtures future possibilities.
I watched Ange at South Melbourne Hellas FC - CHAMPIONS, I watched him at Brisbane Roar - CHAMPIONS, I watched him as Australian Coach - CHAMPIONS, I watched him at Yokohama M FC - CHAMPIONS ....... I have a Football signed by ANGE he's a CHAMPION
Feeling quietly confident that the big man's the real deal. Just been waiting for his opportunity to manage in europe and now he has it. The thunder from down under, oh yes!
Barry Ballsit They should’ve scored 10 goals in this match. You can’t blame the coach if your players can’t put the ball in an open net from point blank range.
After this interview Ange's life was seriously negatively affected, both in a professional and personal sense. He was really concerned that it would define him and his career and he hit rock bottom. However, despite Foster's inappropriate treatment of Ange, he pulled himself up by his bootstrings, came back even stronger and like the true gentleman that he is, was willing and able to move forward and reconcile with Foster, no hard feelings. And this is what we love about Ange, who not only shows us that we can pick our lives up when faced with injustice and adversity, but that it is better to make amends with others instead of holding grudges and hatred. So not only a superb mananger but a brilliant human being and role model!
Fozzie is a hypocrite. He always bangs on about how results ARE NOT important at youth level, but HOW the team develops is more important. He can't have his cake and eat it too. Which way is it Foz?
As a rangers fan! Ange seems to be a great guy an speaks well. There’s good and bad times for clubs an national teams. He’s managing a club that is my teams enemy lol but the bitterness isn’t there with me anymore. He is giving young boys a chance at Celtic and it’s only going to benefit our national side 🏴
I watched this interview live. Foster showed he had no understanding of youth development, and how it works and, worst of all, wasn’t interested. Former player and journalist and in practical sporting terms of low IQ. He substantially lost me. Ever since, I’ve analysed what Foster says more closely. Opened my eyes. But it was an interview that got me looking into Ange more. And I followed his progress after that. As a youth coach myself (netball and basketball) I immediately understood where Ange was coming from, and it wasn’t just the scoreboard, where ultimately Foster comes from. 👍
As much as I appreciate Craig's contribution to the game & his work on SBS, explaining & teaching young players in his analysis of football matches, the fact of the matter is after watching this interview, he is not an Aussie selector therefore has no right to ask or suggest a National team coach to step down, regardless of his knowledge of the game. Thats what sports codes have selectors for! I personally saw it as a personal attack & Ange should get an apology from Foz, if he has any class
i have ange as coach this year at Port Melbourne.. he is an excellent coach. i used to play 4 oakleigh cannons in premier league.. and the pre-season fitness training i did there is nowhere near as good to even compare to the training im doing under ange. Even tho the team ange had wasnt performing.. its not ALL up to the coach. the players have to do their part of it too.. which they ddnt do. half the aussie youth are fkn shit & are only there cos their dad has a big wallet.
i think some people should understand that ange is doing well with brisbane right now primary because he finally got all his coaching licenses when he coached the youth teams he had very little qualifications outside of a b license hence why he generally failed every single time we need all our coaches studying and getting all their credentials before they coach professionally. thats everything from afc A and B license.
Both are passionate about the game in Oz and it comes out here. But anyone thats ever doubted themselves.. this shows that anything is possible. Results can lie .. perseverance .. keeping your head .. even when youre being critised by people you respect. The universe gives you back if you hang in there.
He's not the worst football analyst of all time, I've seen far worse than Craig Foster. Thing is, Craig Foster knows his shit about Australian football, a lot more than most of us know.
@TheRVP11 Too be fair he does have some top level management experience, it was with the second season of Nerds FC. He lost all the games, with a special mention to the nail biter episode with an U11 team. He lost that game 6:0
it's funny how so many people are saying that ange postecoglou is the worst coach ever, yet he is at the top of the a-league with the brisbane roar, a team that previously finished second last with frank farina in the prior season... hmm.... but meh, craig foster is entitled to his worthless opinion
Ange was stiff, with his tenure coinciding with the black hole between the demise of the old NSL and the new A-League. Even now, the players produced by the A-League clubs don't seem to be of the overall quality of the likes of what was produced/groomed by the likes of Melbourne Croatia (Viduka, Simunic, Culina, Tiatto), Sydney Croatia (Bosnich, Zelic, Cahill, Kalac, Slater, Jedinak, Popovic) and Marconi (Schwarzer, Kewell, Okon, Farina, Vieri).
I for one always believed Ange was the man, I think Craig can eat humble pie. Brisbane Roar are playing brilliantly and I got them @$41 to win the title. Ange for the next socceroos manager after Ossieck.
Ange has proven his worth since that ridiculous interview. Craig's role then was to agitate & now he is not relevant when it comes to soccer in this country.
As soon as Foster was named SBS Chief Analyst he thinks he is smarter than anyone in the world. Typical english attitude where a high position means that you are better than anyone else. Pity he couldn't prove it on the soccer field. And when the offer for Socceroo coach was even mentioned to him, he hid in the corner like a scared puppy.
Yeah I never had a prob with Fozzie before, but that interview was a joke. Ange held himself well and spoke with clarity and calm, while Fozzie tried to attack him on what seemed more of a personal matter than anything. A very poor interview on his part...he should stick to reading a script
Craig Foster is a great commentator of our game both here in Australia and abroad. Whilst people may not agree with his comments he is non the less creating news/controversy about our game. We need more of it. It sickens me that we get pages and pages of mindless rubbish in our papers about RL and AFL when at the end of the day those journalists are simply writing anything to keep themselves in job. We need more Craig Fosters in our market for bringing these issues to light
i seriously don't understand football in australia... they say u need to make the A League and then the national team to get a spot in europe... the only exciting prospect of playing A league is getting o play on fox sports every week and looking good in front of the cameras. U won't get an A league contract unless u have played 26 premier league games and scored 28 goals, even then, u might be signed on a short term contract
dudes listen to me Ange is a great coach.he is now working in greece.he is panachaiki's coach the team i support and he is first in national c.he is doing a great job.you are not fair with him
its all well and good for foster to attack him like that due to the poor results, but the quality of players coming through (which isnt of European status comparatively) would also be a factor. postecoglou is ripping up the a-league right now with our roar boys, so obviously he's not that shit of a coach. from 2nd last to 1st in half a season.
i like it what Les said at 5.00, we qualify by oceania when we got there we didnt do much..move to asia didnt do much, just like the national team in asian cup after the world cup,no disrespect to the soccerroo what they did was great and bring so much to the country, but we all know that FFA is not good enough we are far behind in the football world yet still we expect so much from so little we need to build for the next5-8 years when we might get the chance the game.then u can expect something
Stop hating Fozzie. THis was like 6 yrs ago, things change ppl change. Ange changed 4 the better thats a good thing. Fozzie is just passionate abt football cause he'll be critical when Australia doesnt perform. Im a roar fan and i love the team and ange but back then ange wasnt as good as today. You cant judge someone from something that happened 6 yrs ago
DEFENDER5011 - "Fozzie is a better analyst then Ange Postecoglu is a coach." Too right, don't quite know why Fozzie was so unprofessional in attacking him but I think Craig Foster is a man dreaming of bigger things, taking out his frustration on the quality of the Australian system on a coach just doing his job. I applaud Postecoglou for defending himself but like fozzie said, they should have the technical ability to beat the likes of laos and china!
ermm...I don't know what world your in but... Mark Viduka is of Croatian heritage, Mark Bresciano and Vince Grella are of Italian Heritage, and they are considered Australias best players...
@FatPizza56 Don't agree, Players like Tommy Oar, Kofi Danning and Matthew Leckie are very talented and the talent pool will get better. Do you think someone other than Ange would have done any better with that team... I think not.
Craig Foster why don't you resign from SBS , you are not enjoyable to watch , your attitude is poor. You act like an expert ....who did you play for ....Liverpool , Real Madrid or Milan .....No ...Portsmouth and you were a journeyman ...nothing special.
Thechrome he is too negative , he had not got an interesting personality for football , he comes across as arrogant . And he was not that great a footballer anyway , he was average.Bye bye Craig .............
Kind of dislike Foster. I wish I could have heard him commentate.. Champions league Liverpool v AC Milan 2005. His kind of team Lost! He should be on the streets shucking for 50c s.
