I feel like you can look at this 2 ways. This is a man's yearning to remember his childhood and family through his dreams in an especially hard situation. It also can be looked at as maybe he was dying, and his dreams were leading him to be almost home ,i.e. heaven. Sad and beautiful either way you look at it.
I like to think it was more of the first one. Warm loving memories in a world of cold harshness. People that protected and loved him a place and time where the worst thing he had to deal with is a swarm of honeybees vs people that ignored him or looked down on him. Warm weather vs cold winters with no shelter and death a reality. Craig Morgan did leave it open-ended like that on purpose though so listeners could form their own thoughts on what it means.
😭😭😭 I cried today, just like I did when I heard this on the radio the first time. Country music always get me! It’s the BEST and most genuine music, for me at least. I love Craig Morgan, period.
He was old, homeless, broken and hopeless.... he was this >< close to being beyond the misery of this world - gone in the sweetest of dreams.... "Man I wish you'd just left me alone" Been there. Know how that feels. Was no favor to wake him up at that point. This sing kills me every time.
It's a very special song to me. Every time it rains, especially special occasions, it's a beautiful reminder my loved ones are looking done and hopefully are proud.
This song makes me cry. We all take for granted the little things and forget that some people only have memories of those little comforts. Nobody should have to dream about "home", we all deserve that comfort!
As I get older, I find myself yearning for days gone by more and more. There are so many family members I miss. I wish I could have a piece of my grandmother’s apple pie. Playing hide and go seek with my cousins. Hug my daddy a little tighter. I love Craig Morgan’s Almost Home. It makes me homesick for childhood.
ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A FAVORITE OF MINE SINCE I FIRST HEARD YEARS AGO. I WAS NEVER HOMELSS BUT I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO JUST WANT TO GO HOME.
I habe a 17 y/o special needs son, he was shaken by his biological father at 19 weeks old, and thrown against a wall. I very nearly lost him then, but by the grace of God he is still here... He LOVES music, always has. This song is one I have been singing to him since he was born. Thank you for this, Billy... It's been a minute since I sang it to him, because of you we revived it today! ❤ Another great one by Craig is "That's What I Like About Sundays!"
Many people interpret this song as the old man just sleeping and having a dream but I see it as him most likely having a near death experience and all his memories playing out in front of him before he passes
With the loss of Joe Diffie to complications from Coronavirus, I am begging you to react to "Ships That Don't Come In" by Joe Diffie. *WARNING* BYSE will make an appearance but it is a song that you want regret reacting to. PLEASE!!!
I was hoping you would get to this song... I hope that you don't disappoint me on understanding just how SAD this song is. Spoiler Warning... It's not just a dream, the man was freezing to death in his sleep.
My favorite Craig Morgan song. His writing is just fantastic. You can just feel every word. Growing up in the country, i can relate to every line. Love this song.
This song reminds me of my childhood. When you grow up in the country this is all there is. This was my days and nights. This is what I breathe. It reminds me of my grand parents and the rest of my family that I have lost since then.
My Uncle just died. He was part of the homeless community and we tried helping for years but all he knew was the streets. He died of hypothermia last week at the age of 59. Hes home now.
Please react to Chris Young (The Dashboard) . It's about 2 brothers. 1 is a marine and he gives his brother his pickup to have if he doesn't make it back home
Gotta get back to the one Gary Allan video a day, man. My list in your DMs should be enough for now, and most are requested by others. :D We all have memories that are bittersweet that we wish we could go back to, and I guess to some they would think of those as heaven. Imagine nearly freezing to death, or falling asleep and letting hypothermia take over and that is your near-death experience kicking in. It's sad, yet it it is also kinda freeing and pleasant as well. I tell ya, if I had a flux capacitor and a DeLorean I know of several points in time I'd like to revisit and live over and over and over again.
This was his first hit. I remember the first time I heard it. I was mesmerized, thankfully it was his first of many great songs. Please react to Every Friday Afternoon by him.
Saw him live in a bar in Lexington, Ky. When he started to sing this song the crowd went wild! He was so overtaken with our reaction to his music he actually just walked off stage and had to take a minute to compose himself. He came back and rocked the house. Still through the song he couldn’t believe how much the crowd loved this song. Greatest feedback from an artist I have ever seen.
This song was playing on country radio when teh space shuttle exploded over Texas -- it seemed appropriate, because our astronauts were "Almost Home"! Craig Morgan has a lot of really good music. Craig Morgan's 17 year old son died from drowning as a result of a tubing accident in 2017. He and his family had a really tough time, but this song was written and recorded way before his son died.
P.S. I guess the loss of our space shuttle crew hit me so hard because I worked in the Technical Library at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. I stood on the steps of the Space Center Headquarters building when the first unmanned launch of the Saturn V Rocket, carrying an Apollo Space Ship, after the launch pad accident where three astronauts lost their lives due to a launch pad fire.
This song always gives me all the feels. ♥️ Please react to Chris Young's "Drowning" if you don't mind letting BYSE make another appearance. We all love BYSE because the reactions are so genuine.
Not just Craig Morgan (he sure can tell a story, huh?)... But country music -- paints a picture that you can relate to and feel. With this example... The "Old Man" was tired and ready to go... painting a picture of where his mind was ... freezing to death, set to go --- not feeling pain from the cold --- comfy. Somewhat sadly -- he's brought back to reality; the "old man" a bit disappointed. The picture is so vivid -- most everyone can see it and understands where the "old man" was... and where he was goin'. Country music is amazing --- most don't like because it make them feel, sadly -- they want to stay numb and stay away (from country music); many don't like to face reality!!! Just my take on it --- Be Safe Billy
