LOT 205 CRAIGLEA ROSS (AI)
Craiglea Ross. 23-month-old Border Collie male. AI pup, by Pat Byrne’s Moss from Ireland, out of Craiglea Ruby. Moss is by well-known sire, Ricky Hutchinson’s Sweep from England. I have a three-quarter brother to Ross (Craiglea Mack) and a three-quarter sister (Craiglea Abby), all out of different dams, that are excellent working dogs! Ruby has been one of my best females. She works all classes of cattle, including cows and calves, as well as sheep. She is an Open cattle dog and has won and placed in many cattle dog trials. Ruby is by Swan Spud out of a Llangwm Cap female. Ross is a great type, leggy, with a strong head. Smooth coat, traditionally marked, black and white. Calm, easy going worker, good traveller. Great temperament and trainable. For his age, Ross has had heaps of experience on dry cattle and a few head of sheep. Lacks a bit of finesse on sheep, more suited to cattle work. He has recently been doing a few jobs on cows and calves in a team of experienced dogs. Trained on whistles and voice, better on whistles. Running out reliably to 300 metres or so and improving. Solid side commands, good stop. Can muster, block up and drive. Works off four-wheeler and horse. Genuine young working dog. All the hard work is done. Ready to go straight to work.
