Fred you were lucky there i had a turbo go on a old Renault 21 estate and that just sucked up all the oil and i had even turn the egine of as it red lined until there was no oil in the car. Dave (teapot)
Driving a Polo TDi exactly the same engine setup. My pipe has not come off yet but i noticed it not fitting perfectly and the notch was worn. I temporarily fixed it with very thick heat shrink untill i can get the replacemnet part. The stealership also asked a massive price. Ordered aftermarket. Hope it fits propperly. Thx for the vid.
Having the same issue, pipe pops out from the same spot. At first thought the intercooler was causing back pressure. Turned out the green rubber was warned out and there aluminum was warn. Ordered from the VW agents, got the incorrect pipe, so just waiting on the correct part. Hoping this resolves it. Insightful video, thank you
Hi. From research it seems a common fault. Same issue with the wrong pipe. The genuine pipe was way too expensive but since fitting its never popped off again. Good luck.
Fred, I would have made the old one fit, bolt, jubilee clip, self tappers, you name it. both my sons had Seat (though why they named a car after something you sit on beats me) two of the four cars did that, so now they are into other makes. They asked the price first and just fixed it without new parts, I suspect others do that as well if they don't stock the part. At that price it is no surprise there is no demand for the part!
Many drill the intercooler and use a self tapper. It was tempting but its still a bodge. Slightest air leak means black smoke on boost. Just glad i could fit it myself and halved the repair cost.
When I look for this part for my 2007 Audi A4 Quattro it shows that the part has those clips. But when I actually went under the car and looked at the hose it did not have that. Instead, it had a black hose with screw on latch that was pinned to the hose. I cleaned out all the oil and put the hose back making sure it was super tight. It seems to be doing well but do you think oil will start collecting there again if there is a leak somewhere? Alot of oil came out and the hose was pushed off slightly that smoke was able to leak out.
Mine was very gunky with sticky oil. It seems to collect there. As long as its not dripping out it seems normal. Any air leak at all will throw everything out and you will get smoke on higher rpm.
