Just the finishing up of the Weber 32/36 DGV install and the front and rear suspension rebuilds now finished and ready for the pits inspection hopefully next week.
Any info or questions you have about either the suspension repairs or Weber 32/36 DGV conversion please ask in the comments.

Looks like you have done a very comprehensive job in getting the car ready for inspection. I was curious to see that the oil cooler appears to be suspended below the croas piece in front of the radiator. I thought this only happened following movement of the radiator forward partway through the RB era.. This car certainly has an unusual history!!!!!! Cheers, Charles

Hi Charles, You are right a very interesting vehicle this one, lots of little nuances going on. The more I look around the more I'm convinced this was a LHD MG when it started out, has the brake pipe union manifold on the LH side, oil cooler as you have noted, anti-burst fitting in the LH door, a strange blanking plate over the LH steering column hole in the firewall, a mirror image RHD dash the same as the LHD US dash three windscreen wipers, no side markers in the wings and amber front lights which I have found out had two globes / bulbs in it, one for sidelights and one for indicating, never seen that before. The wiring behind the dash also looks like a right royal bowl of spaghetti. Thanks for the Commets as usual Charles always nice to hear from you again. Like the Weber or not?

I put one of those carbs on my Manta - went very well.

I agree, I received a bit of negativity on the first install, however I never had any problems, better fuel economy, easier starting, tad more responsive and as you say went very well. I'll see if anything is better again now I have the carby on the right way round, the cables were definitely easier to set up.

I shall be interested to hear how the car performs on the road with the Weber ! I 'm not a "must be kept original" petrol head although my car is essentially the same as it came out of the factory - (leather seats & Minator wheels being the only obvious visual changes with the others being more subtle). Per Clausager (The MGB Bible) he states that the special anti burst units fitted to door locks were only fitted to North American cars only (August 1972 onwards) . He also stated that , from that date North American cars also had illuminated rocker switches & heater controls, words on switches on cars for the USA but symbols on other cars with North American-type facias. Have you found any original chassis / body shell numbers which would help track down it's history? Cheers,Charles

The last MG I did the Weber conversion on went really well considering some of the negative feedback I got when I did it. Rocker switches have all got writing on them no symbols , another pointer. The VIN plate is riveted to the top of the dash on the left hand side. Never seen that before either.

With regards to the VIN plate Clausager states that for North American cars this was riveted to the shut pillar of the left hand door with an additional plate being used from 1 January 1969 ,fixed to the top of the dashboard so that the car number could be read from the outside through the windscreen. This seems to be the case with your car! Hi Charles, Yeap that explains that then, I've got the VIN plate on the bottom corner of the LH door, so it all fits. Now after messing around with the lights and the light switch looking behind the dash it seems clearly obvious that the LH wiring loom has been "made" to work with the RH drive dashboard.
