I’ve never fished that far north and not sure what depth lake you are fishing, but I’d assume they react like other crappie. Here they seem to do more swimming around after the summer heat lowers and they start feeding for winter as they put some fat back on and get ready for the spring spawn. They leave the summer patterns and start back almost like they were coming back into their spawning areas, but will hold up on deeper structure/cover. As the water gets cooler they will go deeper to find the temp they prefer. Also I’d follow the baitfish right now, that’s where I’m finding them in Alabama.
