I dropped an underwater drone in Morrison springs in Ponce De Leon, FL and was amazed at the amount of life below the water! The drone I used for this was the QYSEA V EVO!
We used a drone in a pump house at a steel mill because it wasn’t safe to use a diver and we lost the drone to a 40,000 gallon a minute pump. The office was pissed because we used the drone instead of a diver. Seems the drone was more valuable to them than us.
I know of an occurance of the loss of a diver at a pulp mill. If I remember correctly the plant drawings had not been updated correctly so the pump was left on while he was diving. Industrial accidents with loss of life are very serious, it is a good thing only a drone was lost in your case.
@@theodoregarver494 Yeah they are and expensive. A drone is a lot cheaper than losing a diver but bean counters don’t think about that. There was a case on Lake Michigan where a diver was trapped in an intake and they wouldn’t shut off the pumps because it would cost too much to do that so they let him die. The only smart way to dive in intakes is do it when you can shut everything off or don’t go it at all.
as a kid I fantasized about seeing things like this. I want this drone! I was surprised when I saw it go below 33 ft (1 atmosphere). So cool that tech has advanced enough to make a UAV affordable for many
I’ve dove Morrison springs many times .It’s a great place to explore. At night you can go into a large open faced cave, turn off your light ,wait a few minutes and turn your light back on and you’ll be surrounded by tons of eels.Pretty cool
I was doing a dive with a buddy at Lake Ouachita in Arkansas and came upon a huge largemouth hanging out between two rocks waiting on something. Ouachita fish don't seem too scared of bubble spouting divers and we got close enough before she gave way that I could see she absolutely as long as my arm from my 6'4" wide receiver elbow to extended hand and she was fat. She was at least 9lbs.
Navigating the drone, just as one navigates a ship or a submarine. Sailing is done at the water's surface where there is wind, and sails to catch the wind. 🙂 Thanks for sharing; beautiful water, great shots of the fish. 69F room temperature dry, warm; 69F wet be it lake, rain of heavy fog, sucks the heat right out of the body. Not so warm. Have been in enough glacier lakes to know that I am with your buddy; I do not relish hitting that cold water at the start of a swim.
Great video looking forward to seeing some more never been to Ponce de Leon before but i sure know where Ponce de Leon park is that would be Punta Gorda Fl maybe some videos in Charlotte harbor would be a cool thing.
I had to laugh at the way you say "Ponse Day Lee On " Florida. But in all actually I don't know If I say it right either! I suppose just like all people from the north, Cool gadget, thanks for sharing! That water cold? aww cmon you rugged southern fellas! I love these kind of videos thankyou! So many cool things to see in Florida.
I used to dive this spring many years ago (20+) and it is beautiful. In the the garage area as you descend there are huge catfish and eels. Take a pack of hot dog wieners down and you will have a feeding frenzy. It is a magical and beautiful place, but demands respect.
Great footage. One thing it made me really appreciate, is just how well fish can see out of the water ... maybe anglers wearing camoflage gear isn't so silly after all. ...I also wonder if there's an underwater-drone harpoon-mod 🤔
Nice video! I have dove at Ginnys Spring. Cold doesn't phase me too much. Here in the PNW it's usually 43 degrees all year. Looking forward to viewing more treasure hunting finds. Lol
Wow,....That was a cool video you took in the water and also using the drone,.....Yes,...Great scenary under the water,....Thanks for sharing this video,....
Very cool! No diving in there! Yikes, all those dead snags! And yeah--68 degree water is like 30 degrees less than body temperature, so sure it's going to feel frigid. My daughter just put in a pool last year--didn't get a heater, so no, I'm not jumping in there unless the air temp is 100+ degrees!
The drone is real neat and the interaction with the fish is interesting! Your drone has me thinking about a possible purchase….. I did notice your wood decking is crying out for some protection from the elements. Stain is great cheap insurance and the color will real look awesome!
Yeah I enjoyed watching the video, the great thing about is you never know what you might come across. You get a completely different perspective from under the water. A UK viewer.
When I learned to Scuba Dive, 35 years ago, we dove Morrison Springs on a night dive. Back then it was nothing but sand, a spring, and the wildlife! The water was cold then too! 😅 During the night dive, fresh water eels would come out of the cavern by the dozens. It was very freaky and surreal. It has really changed over the years, but still makes a nice dive spot.
Cool vid! I’ve been flying UAV’s for around 8 years, and have always been kinda interested in UUV’s since the tech has ramped up! Looked like the fish were interested in this new mechanized fish swimming around with us! Would be very interesting to see some offshore dives in the Gulf!
you can go to some of the bridges and search there, just like the guys do the Magnet fishing. you would be surprised what people toss over a bridge. that would be interesting to see what you find.
