Crappie Fishing With Jigs - Docks and Vertical Jigging 

Awesome video again 'Master' Fishing Machine. This is the first video I have personally seen on your videos of Spin Cast Reels. My memories went back to yesteryear from when I started fishing when I was not older than three years old. At 71 years old now, I have gone the full gamut of fishing reel styles. Through the years I went from my first Zebco 202 to the Zebco Omega Pros. I started with Baitcasters before I went to Spinning. Also, I found a love for Fly Fishing...not so much for Trout or Salmon but in fishing for Bluegill. The only type of fishing I haven't had the pleasure to do is Deep Sea Fishing and a fishing trip with the Fishing Machine. Maybe someday. You, have the best fishing video on RU-vid. Down to earth, crazy at times, but super knowledgeable about fishing that doesn't take hundreds of thousands of dollars to enjoy. I want to thank you as this old fart doesn't need all that technical talk to enjoy a good video. Keep up the great work. 🎣

Ali cast reels are underrated. A cheap spin cast can do a lot of good work.

Been using Zebco spin casts for almost 50 years and they have never let me down, the 33 micro trigger spin would be a reel you would love for crappie !

I am the worst at staying super organized. My stuff migrates around. One of my favorite baits in my area is a blue, black, and chartreuse kalins scrub. It has been a super solid bait in all conditions year round it will catch. I have also caught blue gills, catfish, bass, and trout. Just a good one to have.

"There might be a big one in there, you never know" One of the biggest Rainbow trout of my life came while ultra light fishing mini tube jigs for Yellow Perch. After about 30 fish with the biggest being around 9 inches having a large Rainbow swallow my tube was definitely unexpected.

It was hard getting the big ones here in southern Michigan today as well, caught a bunch of 6”-9”. Keep it up brother.

Sadly I never found any slab sauce in any of my local wally mart stores and sporting goods but I made my own spray out of shinner guts I know it sounds distugsing but it works! And them jigs are a killer for crappie but ol gene is wise and knows what he's doing out on the water and I learn sum knew every time I watch his videos and I need to say thank you gene keep on fishin🎣

I love your videos. Our fishing is August fishing. The crappie are kinda spread out, and the weather is hot and hard to tolerate! I have some “goto” spots, but they are even slow right now. Thanks for the videos!

What would you recommend I do to find them so I know that they are in there. not sure if any of ur impoundment contain them, but was wondering if you could explain in layman terms some time what a Deadfalls is in a lake? Fishing Hot Spots Maps uses a "magnifying glass" as a symbol for them. I rely on these maps along w/my electronic lake maps, especially when I am on a new lake. Thanks Gene.

Hey Richard always enjoy your videos but I’ve been long line trolling on Neely Henry for 3wks now and can’t find the crappie at all only bass … using 1/16 Bobby garland jigs (all colors). Any suggestions would be helpful. Water temps have averaged 51degrees.

Confidence is my big thing.....I don’t think I ever had success on a bait I didn’t believe in.....but I tend to have a few baits that if they don’t bite em I feel I might as well load the boat and go home.....that’s probably a negative thing and maybe I should try more baits.

Hello Mr. Gene , have u ever had an encounter with one of the dock owners? U know the ones that come out thinking they own the water, saying ur too close.

Your one of the best..but your wrong about colors..they dont matter..they will hit any color..keep them natural..

Do you ever catch Catfish on Crappie Jigs? I do, at least 1 every time I fish. Have you tried the New Garlic Slab, if so, what do you think of it? I have tried the “down size” without much luck here in GA on Lake Sinclair....different colors, and getting frustrated a bit. But, I still keep trying, cause, it IS good for me! 😁

I must say you are on the top of my RU-vid fisherman list right up there with Scott Martin. Your quirkiness and skill for catching crappie and panfish is unmatched by anyone that I have found on RU-vid. Most people wait till the winter time when they group up but you know how to pick them off in the summertime, not only the summer time but the dog days of summer. You my friend are a professional Angler and I appreciate the time you take to make these videos. And since you have made these videos I have personally tried to catch crappie instead of just bass and I have been successful because of your videos. Thank you

I`m curious about that river , are there 10" , 15" , 20" crappie hiding under water around down there ? I , my oldest brother and I caught a 19" crappie on a drop line on Wills Creek in Ohio years ago , the biggest crappie I have ever seen / caught .
