Nice winter vid with lake water temps in the low 40's :) You're right, it's hard to get someone to go out with you when it's cold!! I really enjoy your vids cuz no one else captures that much detail. You re-enforce so much of what I've experienced and wondered if I was doing something wrong. I love it when fish chase the jig and thump it but sometimes they'll chase it almost all the way up the water column and just drop off for no apparent reason. You've convinced me to practice and perfect the pitch cuz once you are in the beam, you can target multiple fish along the way back. Good stuff man!!

@@dannygreen6145 That is so great to hear Danny. Part of the reason I started making these was I have some family in a nursing facility as of this fall and they're always wanting to know/see how I'm catching so many fish. I was hoping to make these so that they had as close to an "in-the-boat" feel as I could get for them. If you get a livescope it'll be the best/worst thing ever because it's all you're gonna think about afterwards!! I had to save up for about six months to afford it (literally paid more for livescope than I did my whole boat) but I've been having a lot of fun with it!

The first half of this video I fished with a 1/16th oz hair jig: pink head, silver middle, and chartreuse tail * I buy these locally at a tackle shop, no brand name on the packages that I can remember The second half of the video and what is one of my favorite go-to baits is from a company called BigBiteBaits and they have a selection of 1.5 inch plastics called "Panfish Minnow". Very much enjoy your videos and love the format. I live on Darbonne Lake and got my LS setup last August and it is addictive. I use 10 lb Sniper braid with a 6 lb clear leader on a loop knot. Do you use any type of leader or tie directly to the braid? Leaders are a little bit of a hassle and wonder if you think they make a difference on Darbonne. Thanks and hope to see you on the lake.
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
Thanks so much Steve! On Darbonne I just tie directly to the jig with the braid and can't usually notice a difference in the fish behavior. Now on Claiborne or Caney, I will use a leader and have noticed a difference in their behavior there because of the clear water. They did that thing where they followed it but didn't bite way more often without a leader in the clearer water. I was out there again yesterday and caught a bunch in the cold! Left out from the Stowe Creek ramp and fished within a few hundred yards of the channel markers where it drops down to 17-20ft. I brought my camera stuff to make another video but it looks like the recordings didn't work correctly. Aw shucks, I guess I'll just have to go fishing again soon, hahaha!
@Jonny-Cakes
@Jonny-Cakes Год назад
So do you actually utilize the whole entire screen? Also I would love a livescope settings video with tips and tricks. I fish deep lakes like this and it’s just so hard with my LS to differentiate between big crappie and small crappie, they all look the same lol.
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
Jonny thanks for watching! I definitely use as much of the screen as I can all the time. On Darbonne I generally fish 40ft out simply because there are so many fish everywhere that I don't really have to look further than that. But on other places, like in my Lake Claiborne video, I look way further out and much deeper when searching for the fish. As far as sizing them goes I love the grid lines. I can look up and think "well that fish is a little over 1/5th of the width of the 5ft rectangle so he's probably a little over 12 inches". Now in really deep water it's tougher to size them, if you watch that Lake Claiborne video from a few weeks back I caught a few crappie in 45ft of water in that one. Very hard to differ between a 9inch/12inch fish at that depth!

That rule of 7 is for the tournament fisherman all the way. Has no ecological impact of the lake. IDE rather Texas law. Keep everything over 10”. They have some great fishing on those lakes …. The lake is creek fed. Wish they would have went limit 25 and anything over 10”. My 2 cents that won’t matter ….

Nice fish my friend. I went here on Friday and the location I was at in the main lake, the fish where in 30-40 feet and had lock jaw. I tried hand ties and plastics and no luck. I had only three or four followers and two very lite ticks to the end of the jig. Never caught one fish. Water temp was 42-43 degrees. The below zero temps in the last week made the bite very tough. I see your out in your Tracker, nice video. I see you use the grid on your graph. I may try it just to see if it helps me to distinguish the size.

Thanks James! Man that freeze last week was brutal! Do you ever try live minnows or small shad as bait when they get like that? I've had days like that in the summers where I'd start fishing at 7am and it would be noon with no fish in the cooler even though I KNEW they were on the brush piles because I'd just scanned it with side-scan. Then I'd break out my cast net to get some minnows and immediately start catching fish. Might only get 5 or 6 fish that day but it's saved me from getting skunked on a few occasions. *I don't know if netting bait is even an option in every state, anybody else reading this be sure to check your local regulations first and don't wind up getting a ticket following my Louisiana methods!
@fuzzyfultz
@fuzzyfultz Год назад
@@HighQualityFishingVideos yes Sir I have in other times tried live minnows and they still would not hit the live bait as well. This past Thursday I made trip to Wallmart all the way in Mount Sterling just to purchase one of those plastic three rod holders (like it) and to get some of those bait-alive 1” and I purchased some those petrified minnows in a jar as well. I tried those Friday and they would not hit either. I have used crappie nibbles as well and have done well with those. I had even tried those Friday as well. I tried five different schools within the same area. It had been so cold that the river was iced over. Trying again in the morning very early. We are off work tomorrow.
