Hey man, great video. Some feeback, if you put your hand behind what you're showing your camera will focus better. Great content and very relaxing to watch!
Like the jig style. Learned something new with the hackle, thx. 2 quick things. 1) Chenille is pronounced "Sha Kneel", not "Shu Nel". 2) Quick point, you can reduce your waste of materials of Flashbou by folding back the 'bou with 1 strand. And/or fold back the 'bou with 2 strands the cut the folded back part in half at the loop giving you more flash. We do that all the time when tying steelhead and salmon flies. A general rule for flashbou length is 1 1/2 times the gap of the hook gap, just in case you didn't know. Again, like your jig, great tie & information sir!
Hey Guy, thank you for the tips, great point on the Flashbou! There is always something to be learned from others including the pronunciation of "Sha Kneel" 😃, thanks again!
This is great color. I like using thread that matches the tail color so the collar stands out as an added bit drawing focus to the head. I think the fish key in on that.
Amazing video! Very nice work! I would like to get some made as a collection pack. Are you still making these? Your website has expired, but I would still like to get several made!
I believe I bought these hooks when I got the mold, just used what they recommend and had on the website. The Mold is a Do-it: store.do-itmolds.com/Freestyle-JigbrMultiple-SizesbrHk-MultiplebrCollar-Wire-Holder_p_1294.html Hooks: store.do-itmolds.com/Gamakatsu-604-90-Degree-Heavy-Wire-Fishing-Hooks-Nickel-Silver-25_p_393.html
I don't have a strong preference on color myself. I usually have some sort of light color (white with pink / chartreuse / blue) or a darker color tied on.
I'd say using the right type of thread. Wrapping the hook with the thread before applying any other materials and then using a little bit of glue before wrapping up the Chenille. The thread I use is DANVILLE FLAT WAXED NYLON THREAD - Fly Tying & Jig Thread 210 Denier Link: www.ebay.com/itm/112340936196
Hey Steve, thank you for the interest. I'd be more than happy to make you some, you can purchase them here if you'd like: grumpyfishco.com/feather-jigs
Did you look good you know when we watch RU-vid we like what you do just like everybody else on RU-vid But you know you are teaching me too waste too much material on the Jig You cut the front end off the crystal flash They don’t give it away why don’t you use it all and make it four strands they don’t give it to us OK can’t waste it it
Hey Tony, good point! I need to make some updated videos but I do usually make another jig out of the 'scraps' now. Doesn't look as pretty but still good for fishing!
