My name is Austin Applegate and I am a hobbyist fisherman. I created this channel to capture my fishing adventures whether it be tournaments or just fishing for fun. Tag along as we explore a variety of fisheries in Kansas and surrounding areas as well as product reviews and general fishing tips.
This is so cool . When I move out of my small apartment into a house I’d love to have a room just for making different lures and tie some flies. That jig looks amazing !
Good video. I am actually about to install the exact mount and trolling motor. Being that your video is two years old, how has everything worked out since your install? Not sure what the advantage is to leaving the factory handle on when the One Objective Mount has a handle. Does leaving it on add strength?
You are missing out on the best part by not stretching the rubber and cutting with scissors to separate the strands lol. Great looking jigs! Too bad people will only buy "wire tied", thread tied is more than strong enough.
Stretch and cut the living rubber really slowly, cutting off only about 1/8th inch or so, and it will separate without having to do each strand by hand.
Where are you out of. I fish fort Scott all time. It has been a thinkfest there lately. I wrecked on them in the pre-spawn deep-diving jerkbait up by the dam and the outlet. A dd 22 has been good there out on the end of the points. Lower the water being solo there this year the fishing has been tough over All
I hav ewatched a few of your crappie fy tying videos, fun stuff. Clicked on your channel, seen you fishing what I now call my home lake. I am still learning this lake, been fishing for crappie and catfish this summer. Man its been hot. Thanks for taking the time to share this video. I love this lake. I will be heading there in the morning for some more crappie fishing. Have a blessed weekend. PS New Sub here as well. Dale
Thanks for the video. I’m considering a Pro Angler and I will either do the same thing or put it right next to the seat on the right side (since I cast left handed)
Would love to see you tie more of your different colored jigs. Was going to look at what all you tied and maybe purchase a few but your website has expired????
I enjoyed the video , just learning to tie my own jigs, so this video is a big help . Where do you recommend buying living rubber and silicone skirts ?? Definitely subscribing to your channel .
Thanks Bobby, glad the video was of help! For silicone skirts I don't have a good recommendation any longer, I use to get them from here though: www.fishingskirts.com/ Living Rubber (medium is what I use) from here: www.livingrubber.com/
Sadly I'm not sure you can get them anymore. TRCCovers was the company, and you use to be able to order custom length cable sleeves like this but I no longer see that on their website. trccovers.com/
Thanks Bobby! The wire is just an extra barrier to keep the skirt in place. It is not a requirement, I prefer having the wire there versus not. Living rubber actually provides the skirt with more action / pulsating action when on the bottom, jigging or swimming the jig. There is a big enough difference in how silicone skirt material performs vs. living rubber that I put some living rubber in all of my jigs. The living rubber typically cost more than the silicone skirts. I prefer the aesthetic of the silicone skirt material along with the cost but I prefer the action of the living rubber. Hence the hybrid jig. Really just comes down to personal preference more than anything.
