Heaviest cover available, DIRECTLY adjacent to a main basin where they winter. Pre-spawn= bottom of the first drop off, spawn=thickest cover over dark bottom directly adjacent to main basin area, post spawn= bottom of the flat directly adjacent to the outside weed edge. This works for me in about 85% of lakes i encounter in the midwest.
I live close to a pretty good sized lake that holds great pike walleye and crappie. I’ve got the pike and walleye catching down. But I struggle to find crappie any time of yr. There isn’t a lot of brush piles or stumps and logs. Only place I’ve caught any was near a half sunken tree and when the water was warmer. We have ice til about may on good ice yrs. I will be searching again this spring

Northern and west shores, dead lillies are calling my name. Many times I have got the females just by fishing the other side of the boat. Oh yeah new sub!
Shoot bud I been catching spawning fish since November down here in Okeechobee. They still on Fire but only a month or so left of the spawn down here. It has been one heck of a bite down here this year, got a lots of snow birds down here fishing the lake to death but it’s all good👍🏻👍🏻 great video man, I’m ready to see you whack on em up shallow!!!

Regular earth worms are my favorite on a jig for panfish it's almost gueranteed if you want a challenge walk around the area catch some bugs then fish with those
