When ever placing bets on dont pass or dont come, always make them multiplies of six (6, 12, 18, etc. ...). Then placing the appropriate place bets will create a win-push situation on the 6 or 8, and win-win situations on the 5-9 and the 4-10.
just don't lose more $ on the 6 & 8 quickies than your total don't bets. I see people do this often and I want to choke them out. i.e. press, press... then waaa waaa waaaaaa.
Sorry - craps beginner - is the appropriate bet to make equivalent place bets? Meaning if I bet $18 on the dont pass and the point goes to 5, put $18 on the place 5 bet?
I had been removing Don't Pass occasionally but now that you mention it this makes so much sense to just bet on the number to hedge it. Wild how these little things eek by when you're starting out
Well explained. If I have a15, 20, or 25 DP or DC and a 6 or 8 comes, I will place one unit lower, 6,12,or 24 and put a dollar on the Hard Way. You still have the advantage and the chance to use it for a small win or loss.

I would just like to add that as a long time casino employee I know that a lot of casinos nowadays won’t allow this action due to the lack of % of favor for the house... I’ve worked at some that would either make you take/lay odds on your don’t/pass line bets or would automatically take down the opposing bet of the one you preferred... also this type of play would easily upset your dealers unless you were making corresponding bets for them while you played this way... just wanted to add my 2¢... again great and informative video and I look forward to watching some of your others... 👍👋

Cool strategy. Basically you’re breaking out even until a long shooter comes out to increase profit on numbers. At least that’s what I got from it. Thanks. I don’t play much craps anymore but I remember same shooters in action for like 30 minutes. Those are the sessions I think this will come in handy.
Here's a tip. Some of you might be thinking well I just want to switch sides and go with the shooter so why keep my DC bet. Even if you wanted to switch sides and bet the Six and Eight and go with the shooter for whatever reason... it is still better to keep the DC bet. All you do is just double the bet of what you would have placed it for had you took the DC bet down. For example, say you had a DC bet of $5 on the Eight and you are SURE the shooter is going to hit it and you want to place bet it. Instead of placing it for $6 and bringing the DC bet down, place it for $12 and keep your DC bet up. Looks weird right? Well do the math. Instead of risking $6 to win $7 you are risking $7 to win $9. Slightly better. And you can always reduce the Place bet or whatever you want to do if the DC bet loses. It gets even better at the higher bets. Say you have a $30 DC bet on the Six and you want to Place Bet if for $30 and bring the DC down. Again, just double what you would have bet and make a Place Bet of $60 and keep the DC up. Now you are risking the same $30 you would have risked but now you win $40 instead of $35. Again just do the quick math. So, it is ALWAYS better to keep the DC up even if you want to switch sides.
So in the end you risked the 30 on the DONT comeout only to lose 30. As you know, that is the most likely outcome. If you want follow your gut, then do it! Take the 30 off the DONT and place 60 and to win 70. Hard to actually win in craps if you don't attack when you have the advantage position you earned via risk.
@@ahbalone That's still flawed thinking. If you have a $30 Don't already and want to switch sides it still makes no sense to remove the Don't bet. If you want to place $60 to win $70 do this instead... Keep the $30 Dont and place $90. Still only risking $60 but if you hit the place bet you win $105 minus the $30 Don't for a total win of $75 not $70 and risking the same $60. So again... Never remove the Don't it's just giving the casino free money.

You lost $60 this time. I'm saying "shit or get off the pot" - don't dilute your position. Hedging against your own advantage on a hunch is never a good winning play. But if you think you know what's coming, do a 100% switch to the DO side and you might get lucky and win. The smarter play is to add full ODDS on the DONT bet and play the low house adv. One foot in two boats will eventually sink you.
I like this. Low risk, slow wins but still engaging. Beats drumming your fingers by just playing the pass or don't pass. Just throw in a field bet Stern style for kicks. Or not. You can enjoy the game w less chance of it getting away from you.
Would this get you rated better at the casino playing this way? You are turning more money thru the table with those place bets therefore increasing your ADT with those higher house edge place bets (especially that 5 and 9). Tyrone Powers it would not get a better rate. This strategy does keep you on the table longer so that will improve your rate. Seeing as these bets are off setting it basically negates them. It would be like betting $1000 banker and $1000 player in Bacc. Dealer tips, being a cool dude will help improve your rate as well. Jsyk
Any smart manager would only rate you for the don't pass/come action as the hedge stuff is offsetting, but who knows, table game ratings are terribly inconsistent on how they rate for comps.
I agree with the inconsistency part, I believe they only go by your pass line bet that they see when you activate your card and it runs off of a rolls per minute average pre set by the algorithm. I think if you put it in and make your first few pass line bets of $100 the system will calculate your entre time there at $100/ whatever time interval
great vid man. i'm a novice and still learning the game (was playing a lot b4 this damn covid19). I'm a dark side player and always took down the 6 & 8 DC. Will definitely employ this strategy nex time out.
if you are not shooting wait for the point to be 5 6 or 8. Then place 30 on each of those numbers and 15 dollars on the field. Every roll is a winner except a seven. try and take three or 4 rolls then take your bets down and go the the dont come. Once your bets are down and you are on the dont come you are favored. Always LAY THE ODDS at max. Playing both sides on the same roll is quite effective.
Watch the table for a don't bettor that takes down his 6/8 and offer to buy them from him. That's a way to avoid the come out roll and have the odds(as slight as they may be) in your favor.
Good video. This is a good strategy for most players who don’t have enough at the table to take the swings. The catch 22 with the hedge game is that beginners usually don’t do it bc they are just learning the long way first.

I used to do both don't pass and pass when I was throwing. If my 3 v set hit 6 or 8 I would them move the don't pass to pass odds. Worked great at horseshoe in bossier. I've left horseshoe with 11k off 600 buy in.
Wow never thought of it like that!!! I see some don't players wave off the dealer if the point of 6 or 8 is established and then rebet the don't pass. Going through the 'hard part' again. Great video!! Also a good way to show action while heding your bets.
If you already have the advantage after the come out roll when betting the "don't pass", why would you then bet "against" it and limit your now winning advantage? At that point, why not just let it ride "with an advantage"?
Thats the point of video, you shouldn't! But people do it all the time and take their bets down. The video says don't take down, at least place bet so in no lose situation. I recommend just let it ride.
That's why I play my Don't Come for 25. The 4/10 plays for $20, pays $36...gain of $5 or $16. The 5/9 plays for $20, pays $28...gain of $5 or $3. The 6/8 plays for $24, pays $28...gain of $1 or $3. You need a bigger bank roll, but it is easier to overcome the loss of yo or red on the come-out roll.
Why not play at $30on the 4/10 buy for $25($26 if pre-buy) on a 7 you win $4-5, on the point you win $19. With the 5/9 $25 pays $35 so you win $5 either way and on the 6/8 $30 pays 35 so its a push on 7 or $5 on the point.

not really, your average bet will be one cheque. If you're playing $10 bets as in the video your average bet in the rating system will be $10 even with $60 on the layout. once you have the hedges in you aren't "at risk" no loss no average bet.
here is my system a modified iron cross. I only play when the point is 5 6 or 8 and I do not make a pass bet. I place 30 on the 5 6 and 8 and 15 on the field. I try to squeeze three or four rolls then take my bets down hopefully dodging a seven. Then I play the dont come.Once im on the dont come im a favorite over the house.
I was in Vegas this last week. I saw a guy that played strictly the dark side. But, when the point was a 6 or 8 he would wave off the dealer and not allow his don’t to be moved to either of those numbers. I didn’t know that was possible but I saw it happen quite a few times. He only allowed the dealer to move his don’t to 4,5,9 or 10.
You should have asked to buy the bet from him, then, if you're nervous about it, place it for a near amount and make enough to buy a couple winning PowerBall tickets.
Like it's been said before... "any strategy works, but only under certain circumstances". Hard to play this way when there are back-to-back-to-back 7's or 7/11 then the point is made.
If my Don't Pass gets knocked down back-to-back, I stop betting on that hand and wait for the next shooter. I don't want to get run over by a monster. "Now, where's that waitress?"
You may not lose much money when constantly just hedging but you lose something far more valuable - your time! May as well take a risk to win some money otherwise this is just a big waste of time. Hard to argue that it's entertainment value either because you're always worrying about the worst possible outcome and hedging- not to mention everyone will look at you sideways
I find that the biggest case of players giving up house edge is making come bets with no odds. When the casino ups the table minimum to $15, I often see players make come bets with no odds or only 1x odds rather than making place bets. This means a lower payout for the same amount of money risked. If you don't have the bankroll to take full odds... place bets are always better than come bets.
A few 7s and 11s in the come out can decimate your roll if you choose to go this route. Get through that first roll 9 out of 10 times and u basically guaranteed a win.

Why break even when you can put don't pass odds down once poitis established? Plus, if don't pass is not contractual, then you should be able to remove it and keep playing don't pass odds.
The point of video was some people do not like certain don't numbers (6/8 usually) and remove them. They certainly wouldn't add odds to them. This is not a suggestion to play this way, its just a warning "do not remove your don't bet after established or call no action" Also you cannot play the don't pass odds without the underlaying flat bet.
There is a way to hedge your come out if you are a don't pass player. On the come out only, you could place an equivalent bet on the any seven or eleven right? Is there something I am missing?
Kieth Mergard if another number then 7-11 come out, you lose you're bet. So it's not an edge .... instead you could add 1 dollar on the 11 roll and get 15$ if it's roll and lose 1$ if not ...
hi i want to ask a question. have you seen a casino stick man call no roll when the dice accidentally hits a players hands but calls nothing if the dice hits a dealers hands that intentionally puts there hands in the way?
I have seen it called both ways, i wouldn't read too much into it. Dealers want you to win (tips) they aren't trying to call you a seven out, it just seems that way when it goes that way.
@3:37 a guy can be a Don’t Pass player also by making a min Pass Line bet on come out. Then, per your example, if come out is 8, on second roll make a Don’t Come bet & hedge with a smaller Hard 8 bet. Many options. Glad I stumbled onto yours. Thanks for sharing!

One thing wanted to verify...once the point is established and I then come up to the craps table as a new player I can immediately place a bet on the Pass Line but I CAN NOT place a bet on the Don't Pass Line. I've been told that a Don't Pass bet must be made before the point is made but a Pass Line bet can be made before and after the point is made. I'm think I'm correct but can someone verify if I am correct?
You have that correct and here is why. For the come out roll, the pass line has 8 ways to win and 4 ways to lose. After the come out roll the pass line is more likely to lose than to win. The casino will gladly allow you to bet the pass at this point, as you have no advantage and more likely to lose. You should never do this by the way. For the don't pass...The come out roll is the disadvantage, with 3 ways to win and 8 ways to lose, but after point is set, the don't pass is more likely to win vs every point number, and therefore why the casino will not allow a don't pass bet at this moment of the game.
Another great video. I like the hedge on the 6, 8. I would just assume play the 4, 5, 9 and 10 out however as you are at least a 3-2 favorite so I'll take my chances with that!!
Any time you survive the Comeout roll on a Don't bet, ride it out to the end. No hedge - no Hardways, no nothing. You can lay as much odds as your heart will allow - but, and I stress this: You made the Don't bet initially. That was your 'gut' or your mojo or your whatever. If you start tampering with that and hedging it or anything to alter it 'for safety', you are only opening yourself up to not being able to see anything through to the end, and you may miss out on some great opportunities as a result. The saying is: scared money don't make money. The solution to having a bunch of Don't bets picked off by a hot shooter is to stop making them! Or switch sides. If you switch and the dice switch at the same time, it's one of two things - 1) not your night; 2) game is rigged.
I like this video you made for us. So clearly explained. The only thing I wouldn't enjoy is the very low profit when you hedge the place bet against the Don't. I'd just go for the edge you have on all numbers and try to get paid much more. I have one question. If you have $100 Don't on the 4 (or 10) and Lay $100 odds. You get $350 back. But if you bet the same $200 on the 4 (or 10) without the Lay you win $400 back. What's wrong with this? Is it bad to bet the entire $200 at one time or what?
Nope, fine option, but the come out roll you have a big disadvantage, as there are 8 ways to lose and only 3 ways to win. After point set and you can lay odds, player always has advantage. Just depends how the dice roll :)
I understand the point you make with a $25 Don’t Pass bet, but a $5 or $10 bet you may as well pull the bet down if the outcome is a guaranteed break even.
Just be sure to know your table rules. Some tables will not let you make place bets to hedge the Don't Pass, unless there is more than the minimum table bet as the spread.
Color Up...most of the casinos in Wendover, NV. I have tried this in the past and was informed of the table rule. I have tried on multiple attempts, thinking perhaps it was a dealer issue, but they have been fairly consistent.
This isn't exactly what you're talking about, but years ago, the Turning Stone lost me as a customer after sending me Match Play coupons in the mail and then not allowing me to bet both sides (Pass and Don't Pass) at the same time with them. I tore them up, tossed my ratings card in the trash and walked out and have never returned. That was about 10 years ago.
Great question and the answer is yes. while pass and come bets are contract and cannot be removed, don’t bets can be removed at anytime. The majority of casinos will allow “doey don’t” bet on pass and don’t at same time, not all will.

I mistakenly thought this was about making a mistake. It is rather about a player making a move that is not advantageous for him/her. If someone wants to play poorly to their own disadvantage that is fine with me. That way the casino makes more money and is able to afford better comps to craps players. Stupid is as stupid does.

I have been watching your video's on and off for a year now. Your video's helped me lay down my very first bet at a craps table. I think you should re-title this video. The way you should play the first time you step up to the table until your comfortable. This is such a low risk way to get into the game and see if you really like it. then when you are comfortable start changing your strategies... Awesome job keep it up !!!!!

Last time i attempted to do a place bet on my dark points; the dealer had to get an OK by the pitboss (no boxman was sitting) to allow my place bet on my dark points.
I've tried this and long run bad idea. U started out correctly that the first come out roll is the toughest part of the donts. So why have a push to break even when u have an advantage? U don't to have advantage and when u get it u hedge bet?
I take the opposite view. When I bet don't come, I always hop the seven AND bet the horn. I also will REMOVE my don't come bet if it lands on a 4 or 10. The 1 for 2 odds payment are just not adequately reimbursing for my risk. In most cases, I will hit two horn numbers back to back before I hit two don't come numbers in a row. The key is betting heavy UP FRONT and not getting greedy. I am usually off the table in five rolls.

Well odds pay at true fair odds of hitting the 7 vs whatever number, but you are more likely to win when 4/10 vs 6/8, But however you like to play is fine.
So can you play a don't pass come out, then play place bets as well? So example I bet $10 don't pass, the point is 8 so I cover the $8 with $10-12 but then I want to also place 5 on each the 5 & 9 is that allowed?
after surviving the first roll in don't pass...say $10....then especially if the point becomes 4 or 10 why couldn't you lay max odds on the don't pass for a pretty safe bet? also if playing don't pass on the come out roll, cover any 7 with $1 to give you some protection

Yep, but you’ve already went thru risky part of come out roll. Once dont point is established you are now the favorite. I’d rather win $25, then a couple dollars when hedged.
For a $10 bet on a 6/8, you can lay $18 and place it for $24 to "cancel" the bet on a $10 minimum table (+$0 on win or +$1 on seven) ....this is instead of doing the even money bet or if you are at a casino without that option. The other way is to just bet the extra $2 from the beginning, making it a $12 "don't" bet. If you are betting $5, then you need to go put it in a slot machine and stay away from the crap table, just saying. Another strategy is to bet half of your stake amount on next-action bets in order to be covered....for example, if you bet $20 on the DP, don't bet $20 on the DC when the point is established because a 7 out will give you nothing, instead bet $10 on DC. When it moves, now you have $30 in stake so you can bet $15 on the next DC, etc. If you cancel a bet for the 6/8, then you don't count those bets for stake. It won't save you from a yo, but it's good for a table you don't see a lot of repeating going on, you just load up the bases and wait for a 7-out.

Don't bet against yourself. By that, I mean - if you have a bet out there, don't go 'playing it safe' by hedging against it. You made the bet. You must have felt good about it when you made it - stick around and see if it wins. You'll only piss yourself off if you had, say $25 on a Don't 8 and then place it for 24 and the seven-out comes. Yeah, you made a buck-BUT YOU THREW AWAY $24!
It's just an even money place bet on 6 or 8. It only pays even money but you can bet it in increments of 5$ instead of $6. But it pays worse so you're better off placing the 6/8 for $6 to make $7

You do not, but that is the same problem, you are asking to go thru the very risky don't come again, its better to let it travel and just place hedge if you don't like the number

Color up try this.... 1) Buy in for $300 2) Bet $50 No Pass 3) Once point is establish place a $10 bet on every point except for established point. 3) Place $12 on points 6 or 8 4) Example if point is 6 you will place $10 on 4,5,9,&10 & $12 on 8 5) Take hits on your points then take all points down leave don't pass up. Never press up points 6) Very important to dodge hot 7 shooters on come out if you lose twice by a shooter you wait for next shooter example...shooter rolls 7 on. Here's another bad bet I see at the craps table. People with a Pass line bet who make a Place bet on their point. You get better odds by betting behind the Pass Line than you do when you make a Place bet. It is irrational for a Pass Line bettor to make a Place bet on the point.
IF the table im playing at has 6x odds on the DP for any #, do I want to do 6x on the 4,5,9,10 ? OR would it be wiser to do 3x on the 5,9 and 6x on the 4,10 ? What are the proper/best way to take odds? Should I take odds vs the 6,8 just like 1x or 2x? THANKS!
If you can afford to take odds, the maximum you can afford to take will lower the house edge the more odds you add. Many people do not like to take odds on the Don'ts, because you have to lay out more money to win back less. After the come out roll, you are more likely to win than lose, but its still a gamble. Bet the amounts you are comfortable losing.

@@MrT24-c4e trick question...depends if the 7 rolls and you win, in that cause adding the odds will pay off well. If you roll the number, then it will have been better to hedge the bet. So just depends on how you like to play. weigh out the risk vs reward. Adding the odds is mathematically the best way to go as it lowers your overall house edge, but that is useless if you keep hitting the #'s and not winning the don't bet

I actually like this. Place the point and don't and I like to make money on the place numbers, when the 7 does roll, I'm pretty much even. Once I build profit I go ham on those 4s and 10s!
That's exactly what you should NOT do! Laying 2 to 1 and lose a few of those 4's and 10's and you will be digging out of a hole. If you are going to be aggressive do it(especially) on the 5's and 9's then the 6's and 8's NOT the 4's and 10's. Those repeats on the 4's and 10's will destroy you in short order.
