You're doing it again Kev ☹️, just another video released purely for views. What's wrong with you 🥴 😉. Excellent as always, you'll reach 100mph soon enough 👍.
Kev, this Is something that I would really want to see. I have an Arma Senton short course 3s rc car, and I want to take it to the max! But with were I live, that restricts me to do so. I would love to see you take that car, stock as it is, to its limits, go full speed, and find the week points. Siserly, one of your subscribers. (Guys please like so kev can see this.... this would be a wish come true) (3rd attempt)
Try to find some larger diameter wheels with a low profile tire. Larger diameter will increase speed and get the chassis up out of the grass for the long jump. What is the theoretical speed with the current motor, gearing and wheel diameter?
The reason it went slower is because he put fishing line around the center of tires to stop ballooning. But the tires ballooning increases there diameter which in turn increases top speed.
Kev you have a few issues. Low gearing and a small space to run. You need a larger lot or a street. Martin couldn’t get over 100 with dual motors, ESCs, and lipos. Space is your #1 enemy there. 🤷🏻♂️ Can’t wait to see you hit your goals 👍🏻👍🏻
Your right Kev certainly could do well gearing it up. It’s got plenty of grunt to hit 100mph. Gotta love letting others use the cars, for some reason other people always break stuff when it’s not theirs! I love how you handle things getting broken though. So good. Another great video Man!
Kevin On the end of this video you were talking about an unbalanced tire. Back in the day when we were racing in the parking lot we would use a prop balancer for airplanes. we would take the prop balancer put the RC wheel on it balance the tire and if it was out of balance we'd use hot glue on the opposit side inside the rim to balance the tire. Love the videos keep up the great work.
Valiant effort Kev. I'd suggest Martyn sticks to the carpark you guys used over the other side of the road.... 😁 at least there's only railings and that killer kerb at end!
3:54 I've done a lot of speed runs and you're easing up and braking too early. The note of the motor is still rising, it'll do a 100 but you need more room hope that helps. Try a longer road and that thing will probably hit 110. It's not 'peaking' out by the sound of the motor
I think the only way to get the maximum speed of this fast cars is driving it inside of a car. You will need the lambo too. And a big road. In that way you will be able to push max throttle for longer than before.
Is there a chance the wheel alignment is off on the front Kev? I only question it after seeing that strange wear on the front tires....and at those speeds, toe being off a tad can really scrub off speed. That pink Camaro looks badass btw!
That's what I was thinking too. Are there mini alignment machines available? At the very least he might be able to use a laser pointer on a hand made rack...
I finally got my hands on the Bluetooth SkyRC speedmeter, Kev. So much nicer not having to take the body shell off and put it back on after reading the speeds.
Hey kev fwiw the max5 goes into over current protect around 200amps continuous. A mmx8s will get you further than the max5. In my typhon, i was stuck around 105-110mph. Swapped to a mmx8s and picked up to 124mph same setup. The other option is to tip toe around that current limiter, start dropping pinion size and see if you pick up speed since the current draw will be down
With the 8S 16S discussion, you are both right. In either case it depends on what variable you are measuring (total cells or supply voltage). I do get the complains though, it is common to express the voltage the vehicle runs at in "S" and has been for many many years (also in the NiCd batterypack era). So instead of saying "it runs between 11.1 and 12.6V" you just say its a 3S setup.
Hey kevin!! Love the great videos keep em commin, a little trick i have learned is at any 3 digit speeds blow outs ARE impossible an not a matter of if but when , super soft compoinds an all i have had many customers request balance aluminum rims also bei g bead locks , weve 125mph 6s now do 145mph easy due to a no oscilating wheel (lab tests were not as fun as we though, hi rpm failure testing) looking forward to seeing more videos in future an soo ill be showing im workin on my 1/6 scale Emaximus hehe , having transmission issues due to limited a ailability on large scale center diff an motor mounts
Hi. Can you tell me why every dealer in Europe all charge the same price for a Traxxas X-Maxx 4WD 8S Brushless. I have asked a few dealers for a discount when buying a complete package including batteries and dual charger and they all say they are not allowed to discount 🤔🤔
@Barry Boppins Hi thanks for your comments, I don’t know where you are based but here in Europe that is totally illegal and is restrictive practices and if companies within the European Union are found to operate this practice, they can be heavily fined which can run into hundreds of thousands and some very large international companies have been fined millions.
EPIC Vid. 27T to 29T Pinion FTW 💪 👊 MAX5 should be OK Kevin. Yes it has a KV limit, but the Size of the Can plays a big roll. So I think 1100kv is the Limit for a Big 1/5th scale 58113 motor... That TP Can is "considerably smaller" ... I'm guessing it's a TP 4070 Can? So although it's high KV it's quite a small Can for the Max5 Should be fine.. If its not temps on ESC will be hot & or it might intermittent cut out.
Infraction spur gear is 46t, that would allow you to have much higher tooth count on the pinion, as well as gearing it up due to the lower spur tooth count.
Can you program any of these ESC's to electronically control the acceleration using a graph? I remember back many years ago I had a castle creations Mamba. You could limit how hard the acceleration comes on. So you can "floor" it but the acceleration comes on at a smooth steady rate might be more controllable. Drag racers use this kind of tuning method to keep from spinning early in the run.
Kevin always uploads great RC content, before watching the video I give him a like! I don’t see why many watches his content for free but can’t leave a like...
For sure try different motor, ESC, gearing, battery. You'll get the right combo. Also try standing at the end of your run being more in line with it might give you a perspective on how the car is handling. I still think your going to need some sort of 3d printed wheel for for the grass.
@@KevinTalbotTV I tried to buy zop power from BG due to your recommendations. But unfortunately I couldn't because of shipping restrictions. Finally found dxf lipo in my local shop for decent price. So far so good. No chance of stress testing yet.
Kevin you should come over by me there's this road and it called the Mad Mile and to top it off there a hump back bridge at the end i found out the hard way lol ...and there is two old run ways on that road to , and you can get on them, it a real good location for filming nice pub to near by ....UK England
The 1/10 models are nice but expensive, the most that I have is a 1/18 model for $95 including a 6 year 'unlimited warranty'. That means that if it breaks under the conditions then they'll replace it as many times as needed.
Kev foam tyres need trying and water is an enemy !Try to vacuum them with foam tyre sauce and then use them in dry and well-swipped conditions! Leaf blower is a must on car parkings and open tracks!Clean very well the biggest in length part of the parking space and then run the car! Well-chosen tyres for a speed record but they have a lot of limitations!
You guys should set up some pillows at the curb so even if you crash it won't matter. Might be a bother to take a bunch of pillows with you. Or maybe a football net.
Not running a cap pack is holding you back. Any high speed running or drag racing rc car needs a cap pack, please don't sleep on them they are necessary.
Hey Kev! I maxed out at 108mph with the Max 6. I'm running 29T pinion and a 2200kv motor. You can definitely go faster with that Tp Motor I can't afford at the moment.🤣 but gear it up and let's see it fly ✈
Softer shock fluid and mount further out on bottom/further in on top with firmer springs will give you more tire/ground contact time, you can set it up much better for speed if you eliminate your jump based set up tuning and set it up for track instead, just taller. So close dude, you'll get it!
