Yeah, its a self sustaining fire, the chemical reaction of the lithium with the air will result in the lipos re igniting and burning until all of the lithium is used up, that's what makes a lithium fire so dangerous as once it starts its extremity difficult to stop it no matter what you do, basically it will just run its course until there is no material left to burn. Kevin did exactly the right thing, get it outside !!.

@@KevinTalbotTV tbf I nearly done the same to my K4S but decided to get a conversion cable. Now I’ve just gone for proper IC5 batteries as I had the same disconnecting issues with the crappy dean’s connectors on my old battery.

I'm a big fan of Castle Creations as well, particularly their ESC's. Though there is always potential that a bad ESC got into the mix. That said, I personally think this was caused by a short or problems outside of the ESC. Someone suggested that the motor caused the fire, IDK. I suspect that something shifted when he picked up the RC from the tail end and shorted out something. Things were awfully tight in that chassis. JMHO

Same thing happened to me and it’s been almost a year since they received it and have not got back with me.

I lost my brand new mamba monster 8s . Flew through a puddle on my xmaxx the esc got a little and it burst into flames

@@everythingrc2535 haven't been around cars long enough but totally seen one of their Talon 120s burn a 1.5k heli to nothing haha.

Putting things to the right context. Usually castle esc are used in very high power builds. Those are a much higher risk of getting this kind of problems. Sure, there might be QC issues, but at least I can't judge castle with all the things said in internet.

These XLX2 ESCs are blowing up everywhere. There is already a class-action suit in the US. I would be surprised if it wasn’t the ESC.

The new castles are blowing up, the battery hookup on the ESC circuit board shorts out and causes the esc to blow up, eventually getting the battery as well if you don't unhook them right away

@@masonkaye5 the new castle mamba x series escs are extremely unpredictable, mine did the exact same thing and they didn't warranty it for me, I nearly lost my house and my hand in the process

Lipos can also be damaged internally from soldering connectors too hot or too long. The pack can randomly burst into flames.

What are the fastest esc’s for high amp use castle period . They gave us a god esc with basically no limits so you need to know what you are doing. I have sold and installed over 20 of them since they came out and never one failure. Good plugs something in the 8mm range at least. And quality battery’s. No free revving and most importantly moderate gearing until you monitor the data logs and make sure it’s working in its proper range and if so gear up , or change timing (one at a time here ) run it and check again. And so forth

@@1521joe they are great esc’s but how can it be better at the price point? I have owned several and they still don’t put pace a 8s mm in amp delivery. I don’t see any mgm cars going over 160 and there are reasons. One if they break they take forever to get repaired and shipped back to you. 2 it’s a old gui on there programming and it’s not native to most as they are designed to run anything cars planes Heli’s etc. 3 waterproofing is a option if you want it and so are a few other things that castle gives you without extra cost. And not trying to start anything but have you owned any mgm products? At this point in the game flier esc is a better option than mgm. Only esc that they have that will stomp on castle is there 800 amp one but at like 10 times the price. There is simply no other 8s esc on the market that comes close period.

@@h-jg7730 Chinese manufacturing does not equal bad quality. Sure, knock-off products are usually bad and have given China a bad name, but that’s not the case for well-known brands. Apple for example makes their devices in China. And last I heard, iPhones and iPads are pretty popular.

So I watched that like five times over, and came to the conclusion that it wasn’t a spark. I think the spark was a green light, meaning “okay I’m ready to go” Of course I may be totally wrong idk, just what I thought I saw

Funny story, when I was 14 I got a new ESC for my rustler and I put everything together and was so excited to drive it! But I was so excited that I forgot to check over everything and I had an Allen key laying across the exposed capacitors on the side of the ESC. It was an Identical sound and lemme tell ya.... quite a lesson learned haha.

You are not going to get a lipo fire out with a extinguisher anyway they just ignite themselves again

Yeah, unfortunately fire = heat + fuel + air. If you blow your wad all at once, lipo's will stay hot and blaze again, you have no extinguisher. After everything, all of that time, they kept flaring up. Emptying the extinguisher in one go will cut your own throat...

@@O.L.D_RC wrong, emptying the full co2 extinguish will cool the lithium and remove oxygen however, lithex is the only working dedicated extinguisher.

Unfortunately, you are quite incorrect. As a Certified Professional, I've had to put out lithium, that rarely works first fire. Obviously, if you have been exposed, that extinguisher was not up to the task. FYI, I've been fighting fires for over 30 years, lithium battery introduction required repeated training and refreshers.

@@brokenmember1658 I'm afraid to try anything else now... Moved into the forest in CA, I bring a fire extinguisher everywhere I go. An esc failure like this could be really really bad . I don't do as much RC in the summer and try to stay out of the brush with all my toys :/

@@gazking08mx Ya, I think comes down to the product line of each type of esc or item they have produced. they must be different runs, ya know with different quality parts used or less or no QC checks being done. Most of CC's stuff is now made completely out of the USA. I have the 6s mamba X and no issues yet except the fan runs off n on, but only run 4s in my rock racer so maybe just lucky. the recent Meltdowns are a Major factor in any future purchases thru them tho...

Go to rcgroups or put Castle cremations in Google, I did actually mean their escs in general and I should have made that clear.
