I wish there was a big plot twist that the Quantum masks were the true villains and Crash and friends had to fight them. PR maybe Akano was Uka Uka in disguise. That would be cool.
I really love his story in this game. After spending 22 years stuck in the past while having to grow naturally from being a baby, he’s come to realize that no matter how hard he tries, he’ll never be able to kill Crash and take over the world, and even contemplated about being a good guy while working with Crash and Coco. But like a drug addiction, he went back to being evil when granted an opportunity to get rid of Crash once and for all. But then was able to find some peace at mind when he got banished to the end of the universe..... At least until Uka Uka found him
I really hope they add him as an ally in some of the future games along with adding more character growth from cortex involving him coming to terms with his obvious addiction and weather or not he wants to continue being a bad guy or turning to the good guy. I just really love this character😉
So sad...Cortex and Crash are destined to clash forever. By interfering with himself, he indirectly caused Crash's rejection. That's some Moirai sisters type stuff..."By interfering with Fenrir, Odin progressed the coming of Ragnarok AND this demise at the hands of Fenrir" Knowlege of the future is cursed as a particular event may or may not happen depending on your action or inaction. You might prevent it, cause it, delay it or hasten it....you may also make matters worse.
I love the detail of his hair flopping when he's sad or down but having it be straight when he isn't. It feels like how a cartoon might animate and it really adds an extra layer to his body language. It's great
I guess after teaming up and playing good guy it makes him feel bad that they still see him like that. Even if he did betray them before, but we all know he's nuts lol
I actually cracked up laughing at this line said by Cortex in the gameplay where he goes back to stop his past self from mutating Crash he says why couldn't I just use a wombat like what I originally had planned which is a nice reference to how Crash was originally going to be a wombat named Willy Wombat
I have a theory on why Cortex is obsessed with killing Crash... After learning of Crash's true origins (and name) in Crash 4 coupled with the intro of multidimensional counterparts, there is now a possibility that an evil, smart, and strong war general Crash exists somewhere in a distant universe... Despite Cortex's psychopathy, I gotta admit I felt kind of bad for him when he lamented the failure of Crash's Evolvo-Ray experimentation. He was like a father preparing to pass the torch to his prodigal son and when Crash was rejected, Cortex--beneath all that evil--reacted like a parent whom lost their favorite child. Crash was his world, his golden boy, the prized heir Cortex intended to pass his legacy to and when the Cortex Vortex failed, the child he envisioned died. Although "Crashworth" is still alive physically, he's not the prodigy Cortex wanted. The Evolvo-Ray instead turned him into the bumbling, but loveable Crash we know now and Cortex watched it all happen before his very eyes on that day. In fact, the analogy can be compared to an unborn baby dying in the womb of his or her mother before getting a chance to be birthed into the world. That's what happened to Crashworth. He was "miscarried" before he could experience life and that's probably what Cortex was comparing that day to in his mind. What's the real reason Cortex wants Crash dead so badly? I theorized it's because he's grieving. Crashworth died and was replaced by something he wasn't supposed to be and Cortex wants to kill him for closure. He becomes enraged and filled with hatred against Crash because every time he looks at him, it reminds him of what he lost and will never get back. He lost his son...his "true son" and he wants to kill Crash to get rid of the reminder. In his mind, he feels like if he kills Crash, his broken heart will heal and he'll finally be able to recover from the grief he's hidden behind a visage of resentment and anger.
If, based on his personality as crashworth, Cortex created copy children of villains like bass and metal sonic out of a grudge against crash bandicoot, I think it would be a very cruel story. Please assume that the body that was originally supposed to be given to you moves around of its own accord, and as a result, you yourself are called a fake. I feel like that would allow crashworth to be reborn as "crush"worth and give birth to a new biggest rival for Crash Bandicoot.
There’s really no one else who could do Cortex better than Lex Lang at this point! He’s been nailing it since Twinsanity. 1:15 - you know somebody got *paid* to animate that!
As much as I still think Clancy Brown is the superior Cortex, Lex Lang has been tremendous ever since he took over the role. He nails Cortex's comedic moments.
@@smart.but.stupid Brown makes sense for a more serious Cortex when animations were limited, Lang feels more fitting for more animated, cartoony Cortex. Jason Rubin said that Brain from Pinky and the Brain, was the biggest inspiration for the character. Proving that Cortex has cartoony roots. Brown has a hard time being over top without using his Mr Krabs voice.
@@orangeslash1667 What's so bad about a more serious Cortex 🤡 Also it's funny how you guys make it sound like Lex was Brown's replacement because Clancy's voice didn't fit or smth. Like, you try to casually downplay Clancy's role. Lmao no, he left because they didn't pay him enough. If not for that little detail, he could still be voicing Cortex and I bet everyone would've been fine with him. And no, he doesn't use his mister Krabs voice when he was voicing Cortex - overall he did sound like Lang (or, I suppose, Lang sounds like him), just felt more natural. CB3 is the first time we've seen a more comedical side of Cortex and did anyone have problems with that? With Lang you can feel he puts SO much pressure into his voice to sound like Brown, especially in the trilogy, but fails, because his voice isn't even that deep. So yeah, please stop justificating your choice with reasoning like 'he fits better' and make it sound like it's the ultimate fact.
@@smart.but.stupid The reason why a cartoony Cortex is more fitting now a days, is because that he's a pathetic, pitiful character ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WGH3j2mjtuI.html.
Yeah, I get the gag but I prefer the idea of Crash being the result of Cortex's own impatience and overconfidence. You get WHY he hits such a sore spot with Cortex compared to well.... every other experiment he does. He can claim they were all just duds by character but Crash is the product of all Cortex's flaws. If there's one thing I think bogs down Crash 4's humour is that they ONLY pick on the 'stupid' acting characters, when I think so much of the funny dynamic was the 'smart' ones only THINKING they had more common sense than the 'dumb' ones. Coco could be an even bigger goofball than Crash, Tropy was ten times the tantrum thrower Cortex was, Komodo Joe fucks up the boss fight instead of Moe, etc, etc. It kinda fits a franchise revolved heavily around scientists, the number one industry for 'smart' people causing all sorts of dangerous chaos because they don't think about their actions first.
@@e-122psi3 Crash being the result of cortex's own impatience and overconfidence still works here and actually may even be better in this instance, instead of patiently waiting to see how things played out with him and his creation now that they were no longer foes he jumped at the chance to eliminate crash for good and start from scratch, his overconfidence causing him to think he may be able to finally get rid of him ironically is the reason he even has to deal with crash in the first place, his own impatience from both his past and future self caused crash to not be a possibility, but an inevitability.
@@brandonlyon730 Because those are two versions of Tropy. Cortex beat up his past self. Tropy met an entirely different dimensional version of himself.
It's the Fry paradox. In going back in time, he actually created the events of the present. Cortex going back in time was actually what started the timeline
I would like to write my Crash Bandicoot story, maybe make it a graphic novel. I call it..... CRASH BANDICOOT: Worlds Collide The characters in the Crash Bandicoot franchise, and their worlds (based on the Crash Bandicoot games) across the multiverse, are about to collide. Two masters of the multiverse ( Alternate versions of the evil twins from Twinsanity) utilize an incredible inter-dimensional source with the ability to converge universes, as part of their plan to defeat their creator, an alternate and much more successful version of Dr. Neo Cortex, and his ultimate warrior, an alternate version of Crash called, Thrash Bandicoot.
I think he wanted to take down the present Crash first and then take down the past one. Or maybe, deep down he would knew that the present Crash could take out the power source of Cortex Vortex. Those are mine theories (Sorry for bad english)
Cortex should be proud...his general worked out exceptionally well. An unstoppable twister of destruction, defies the limitations of the mortal coil, adapts to the magic of omnipotent masks AND bold enough to tackle any task no matter the size. Literally his greatest creation!
7:34 as much as the other cast (except dingodile) being disgusted in a cartoon way i cant imagine the level of uncomfortable oxide is feeling right now😂
I realize that these mad scientists have different hobbies like: Dr.Neo Cortex is a scientist of Animal and machine experimentation and he's based on Dr.Frankenstein. Dr.N.Gin is a scientist of robots and machines experimentation and he's based on Igor. Dr.Nitrus Brio is a scientist of potions experimentation and he's based on Dr.Frankenstein, too, and Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde. Dr.Nefarious Tropy is a scientist of Time,Time travel, and Multiversal travel and he's based on Kang the Conqueror.
11:48 Cortex (Past): Who’s on my super secret personal frequency? What?! Who is this….this imposter?! Cortex (Present): Do you not recognise your own face? I’ve come from the future to warn you. Me: dying of laughter 😂
I'm probably wrong and overthinking this but... 2:37 is that supposed to be the Borealis from Half-Life?!! Kinda funny if it was meant to be a poke at the Half-Life universe lol
He is actaully 22 (physically) because he was aged down to a baby at the end of the 3rd og game, and it was 22 years since he came out of the place, so yeah, makes sence why he seemes a lot more teenagelike Idk about his mental age but I would aay its about 60?? (40's + 22)
I think Crash 4's animation does justice to the original concept. Make a game that looks like a Looney Tunes cartoon. Naughty Dog made it happen on the PS1, and Toys For Bob made it happen here. Fantastic. Although the game is a bit meh, the cutscenes really shine.
This is an intresting game but is,legends to me not canon The wrath of cortex is actually crash 4 and its canon n gin never lost his hand ever This is legends definitely but cool legends
Would have been better with a twist villain like the masks helping you the whole time were the villains and FRIENDS with Uka-Uka. They USED Tropy making him build the machine because THEY had enough god like power to rewrite the universe but needed his time twisting machine/rift generator to make it possible by AMPLIFYING their abilities ten fold. Given they are GOD like masks. That plot makes so much more sense and the final battle could have been ten times more epic having them join together Omega Flowey style. In the end Tropy resigns to the fact he has to HELP Cortex and the Bandicoots stop them and joins their team. They basically used everyone by the end. Imagine playing as freaking Tropy though. That would have been amazing. Also to make the final battle more interesting you swap between the characters to face the certain masks. Their abilities being weaknesses to THAT mask "Megaman" style. Hint: Cortex vs Dimension shift Dingodile vs Spinning heavy Tawna vs Gravity mask Tropy vs Time mask Crash/Coco vs Uka Uka
@@rampantmutt9119 According to Clancy Brown during an interview, the reason why he stopped doing the voice of Dr. Cortex was that Universal paid actors minimum wage, and that he was never told about the Crash games (Wrath of Cortex and Crash Nitro Kart) during the time. In another interview. Lex Lang added that parents felt Brown's portrayal of the character was too mean for younger audiences, and wrote letters to Universal about the problem.
