You could be in my boat: Know about this trick right out of the gate, but when you try it the game just goes "fuck you" and throws you off the rope after a few steps just 'cause, so you lack the confidence to ever try it again! :D
@@Ketirz same. I tried it after watching this years ago and failed. So I beat it the normal way. You get used to it anyway and the level gets easier the more your brain remembers things
monkey And most of the levels in this version are not "easy peasy". The first island is but the 2nd and especially the 3rd one have mostly very hard levels. I think the only easy ones on the 3rd island are Lights Out and Toxic Waste.
ReTubeQ8 The geometry of crash’s feet is rounded, making it harder to land some jumps (sometimes you’ll get on a ledge and crash will slide down) making the game less forgiving. However the depth perception is improved in this iteration of the game so it’s easier but harder. I would like them to add a version that has the ps1 graphics and geometry, essentially a copy paste version, but naughty dog would most likely copyright vicarious for doing so.
This saved my ass. It only took me 60 lives to find out the exact spot and another 20 figuring out how to stay on it as opposed to the 80 lives it took me to do it the regular way
Cardboard Tophat nice, im here too. Though im sure there are plenty other comments like this on similar videos Edit: never mind i couldnt find any. Im sure theres at least one out there though.
celtics8402 you can take it slower but you can adjust yourself on the rope if it looks like you'll fall off, I would advise using the d-pad for the adjustments instead of the stick though.
I can't even beat this level doing it this way. The only time I can get onto the ropes is by complete accident. When I try to get on the ropes crash jumps over them.
My friend landed on the rope while playing this and I told him you just jump on the rope but he didn't. I knew you could do this. I was on this level for like a hour before I quit. I'll have to try this even though it looks like a pain to get on the rope as well.
This works decently up until you get to the upside down turtle at the end, it got me game over on my first run. Second time I got it, but man you gotta time that jump right.
@stephen green I did exactly as you did before I watch your video, but I failed and then I played normally I mean I didn't use the rope and I finally won after stuggling and losing so many times in this level 😅
Thank you, so, so, so, so, much. I know I'm kind of late to the party, but I could not beat this level to save my life. This was the only way I could beat this level, and it's not only easy, but honestly a little more fun. (Although just a pixel perfect as if you don't jump high enough you won't get on the rope BUT if you jump to high he goes flying over it.) Now I'm wondering, were you able to do this in the original game too?
I finished Road to Nowhere and The High Road yesterday without knowing this trick. It was all I did all day yesterday. Haha. That was ridiculously hard.
SwitchGamer010 ‘cause originally, on the ps1 version Naughty Dog put that option like a hidden help to pass the level (since when this came out there wasn’t youtube gameplays haha! ) Vicarious visions (the team that made the remake) used the original basic geometry of the game, so they want to respect every gameplay aspect from the original. So, that’s why.
Well thinking realistically no one would’ve been crazy enough to jump the planks like that most sturdy thing would have been the rope and would have probably been the safest way across. Then again the builder of those bridges should have been fired, using bad wood, having very poor Infrastructure.
I too accidentally landed on the rope, then travelled a few steps. But I competed this level on the planks - but when i got to the high road level i thought, sod it- and there was one section of the high road level which i skipped over the ropes past - looked like a controller smasher, so glad i found the rope trick before that. The bonus level stormy heights or something - when i finally did that after about 600 years, i did it again and again in a row like t-bagging your opponent on cod 😂 lol
This game pisses. Me off so much I've never lost so many lives in one stage and restarts lol. I bet it's not even on hard difficulty lol. Crash needs sonics jumps because these forward flips and hold down X is weird.
When I got to this part for the first time, I started off with 22 lives, then I was reduced down to 2 lives left. When I got Game Over, I just laid there on the floor asking myself should I continue 😥
I was wondering if the remaster made this level less frustrating to play. It didn't. Not buying, fuck that shit. (no point buying the other 2: already 100% them back in the days, not worth for only nostalgia effect. But I could never finish the original because of this... level)
Still annoying even using the ropes but overall, yes, it is much easier. The High Road is a whole other level of sadism. Too much relies on the finnicky controls which are somehow worse in the remake, I don't recall the original being this difficult and frustrating. The Crash games always had BS difficulty, even if you're good at the games, you'll still have moments of intense frustration as you're fighting against the controls every step of the way. They should have rectified this in the remakes, not make it worse.
To this day it blows my mind that people struggle with this level. Is it a little challenging? Yea. But it’s honestly one of the easier levels in the game. And I still don’t understand why people complain about the turtle. Have you never played a video game in your life before? Just hold the jump button when you jump on the turtle, intuition should tell you that naturally.
