There's absolutely no excuse for this not being 60fps. ND somehow managed to make TLOU 60fps when it came to PS4 and that was a PS3 game. Yet somehow they're remaking *PS1* games at 30fps, even on a PS4Pro... what a joke.

It is strange how many games were 60 FPS 15 years ago, yet this simplistic 90s style remake is 30 . Superb comparison video as usual John. I'll pick this up in time.

Honestly I can't tell the difference of the frame rate on this game. Mostly i just enjoy the game. This remake of Crash is amazing in my book. They did an amazing job. I do agree with the loading screens, but overall this game brought my childhood back.

It's Remake, not Remaster. Remaster would be just taking old game improving the details and graphics, Remake is start from scratch and make it closer to the original with new textures and graphic details. The description is little misleading.

I hope this comes to PC so we can crank up that framerate

PC version runs 60fps. If you want the best version buy the PC one. You can also set it to 30 if you prefer.

This game looks beautiful

I just pre-ordered this yesterday on Amazon. I won't get it until next week, but I don't care. I've had to wait this long for a new Crash Bandicoot game, and they were among my favorites on PlayStation. I liked them so much that I gifted the games to my best friends as I felt that they had to play them as well. I never hated dying in it because they deaths were so comedic and brought a smile to my face every time. I actually made an effort to die more often because of it.

The game looks great,but let's be honest,it should be 60 fps.

I was also a bit surprised by the lack of a 60 FPS mode. maybe they did this on purpose, though. In order to catch the feel of the original more? I know that real purists could have a problem due to different timing when playing in a different FPS setting. Although it would have been nice to have the option.

Name me a game that doesn't work well at 60fps. Every game benefits from higher frame rates.

PS4 Pro has been a let down. So many games that aren’t supporting it. How is this 1440p/30 FPS, when the game was built from the ground up? I saw an interview with the Director of the game, and he said that they held back, and focused on the “base PS4”, and that is why they didnt use the full power of the Pro. WTF At the very least, offer 1080p/60fps w/ super sampling. It annoys me that they keep using the “Fur-K” advertising too. I know it’s a joke, but come on. The game no doubt looks amazing. But I just don’t understand why they would purposely hold back on making it better, or offering more options. Blah. EDIT: I know that it’s ultimately the Devs that decide what they want to do, so some take issue with my “disappointment in the Pro”. But the reason I say this, is that I feel Sony has set “policies” with regards to the Pro, that clearly made it so that most games would not take advantage of it. I wish that the PS4 Pro required a “mandatory” Pro Mode for all games. This mode doesn’t have to hit 4k, or 60fps. It could even just be a base “1080p” standard, w/ the system applying super sampling. At a bare minimum. Also what’s happened to 1800p checkerboarding, which supposedly looked damn close to 4k, and used far less resources? The fact that the hardware was supposed to make it “easy” for Devs to do this. What the fuck happened to that? ANYTHING is better then the scenario we are currently in. And so while yes Devs ultimately make the choice, I do feel Sony dropped the ball with the policies surrounding the Pro. As well as, how the hardware was designed (I think Xbox One X actually applies super sampling to 1080p games). I just think it was “no shit” Devs are not going to take advantage of the Pro, if they aren’t told to. Why would any company spend more time then they need to with a game, if they don’t have to. This is getting to a point where I would pay $5 extra a “Pro Tax”, if that is what got Devs to freakin utilize this thing. I know most won’t agree with me on that point (but it would only apply to the Pro version). This just sucks. Shame on Activision for their “Fur-K” bullshit too. They are running ads today that have this.

Sorry, but if a company puts out footage of the game in 60fps and the publishers push "Fur-K", the game should damn well run like that when it comes out. Does this not count as false advertising?

Got to love those Salty Sony fans using 720p as there only comeback against Mario Oddysey. The switch is no where near as powerful as the PS4 and Mario Oddysey looks so much nicer..

Nsane trilogy is a 30fps platformer on the ps4, mario odyssey is a 60fps open world platformer on a handheld device.

Naughty Dog had to come up with the most pro level compression wizardry to make the game fit on the CD and make the data streaming work. No wonder their games are technical masterpieces after all these years. They are programming gods.

So many memories. Personally, I just don't like the trend of milking nostalgia. I don't know, I really like to play old games just as they are. It's like travelling through time or going to a museum.

I'm glad that I'm content with mostly locked 30 fps. Fuck. I have a gaming PC, but the sheer disgust some people present when a game is 30 fps is kinda whack. How do you manage to watch a movie at 24 fps without vomiting non stop? 60 fps is great. But man, I'm glad I'm not as obsessed about it as some people. A locked 30 with a few dips to 25-27 here and there I can forgive. BotW hardlocked to 20 at launch and people still sung that game's praises. lol

30 fps is a bit of a shame tbh. Mario Odyssey runs at 60 fps + it has waaaay bigger levels and more gameplay elements. And it runs on a fucking handheld.

Loading for the separate games isn't a problem. Remember switching from disc to disc? That was a lot longer, waiting for the ps1 to restart up, then waiting for the actual menu.

Mario Odyssey = full 60 fps... on a fucking handheld Crash Remake = 30 fps... on PS4Pro... let that sink in

Remastered version has some important changes: 1. In Crash 1 you can die as many times as you can and will get silver crystals if you crash all boxes but for coloured crystals you have to clear stage without any level deaths. 2. You can enter bonus levels as many times as you want until you complete them without need of starting it from the beginning and collecting these bonuses again. 3. You can die as many times in bonus levels as you can and these deaths will not be calculated for receiving coloured crystals. 4. Object hitbox is changed (for apples, mosteres other objects). I jumped on the turtle and when she start hiding I died because I touched in that process her tail. 5. Physics was changed. Crash is not as fast and controllable as in PS1 version. Because of more smooth animation he speeds up slower due to few additional frames at the beginning of his movement animations. 6. There are no bonus apples when you jump from enemy to enemy without touching ground. 7. If this game was developed by Naughty Dog then it would be better.

Mark Cerny's impact on gaming as a whole can not be overstated. I don't think he gets talked about nearly enough as he should. I mean just the fact he was involved in this game which I think for many a gamer who watches this channel was the entire reason they got into gaming. For me it was Super Mario Bros but for the next gen and people who first played PS1 this game is pure gold.

PS4 Pro's problem is exactly what I thought it would be: Developers not wanting to focus on two different hardware configurations while still keeping parity (not giving Pro users a huge advantage over non-pro users). Got a feeling Xbox One X will have the same problem, even with the obviously more powerful hardware.

Looks amazing... I haven't played the original trilogy since the PS1 days but when I eventually do that it will be with the N. Sane Trilogy...

I dunno, this remake just lacks the visual appeal of the original games to me. Things have a shiny plastic-y look and the lighting makes a lot of the stages look somewhat sterile. Crash himself also loses a lot of his charm when rendered in extremely high detail - he was designed around a simple cartoon aesthetic. On the whole I just don't see a reason to play this considering the originals are so easy to get a hold of and play basically the same. I'm assuming that 60fps trailer footage comes from an upcoming PC release, as there has been no indication given that this is a legitimate PS4 exclusive, it isn't published by Sony and the existence of an Xbone version has already been basically confirmed.

Music was one of the best things of the game, hopefully i can change back to the original as i found it much better... I'm having second thoughts if i really should buy this game...

i have no problem with 30fps on games, i have played so much N64 games that run at like 15fps at times that i can handle 30 perfectly fine:p PC people are just spoiled

As someone that owns a high-end PC and sometimes obsesses over frame-rate, resolution and/or graphical fidelity, I can easily overlook the small criticisms of this outstanding remaster/remake of the Crash Bandicoot series. I played these games to death when I was a teenager and it's awesome seeing them given new life w/o changing any of the levels or features. I really want to play these games again. I haven't owned a Playstation since the PS2, but this game might push me over the edge and get a PS4. I know that sounds silly when there are obviously other great exclusives, but, for a long time, I felt like I wasn't missing that much (I was too busy playing the crap out of Halo and Gears of War on Xbox). Thinking on it now makes me realize how cool it will be to finally play games like God of War, Uncharted, Last of Us, Ratchet and Clank, Bloodbourne and many other exclusives. Before the end of the year (if finances will allow it), I will own a PS4 (and I would become the ultimate gamer as it will join company with my PC, Xbox One S and Nintendo Switch).

I really wanted to try the original trilogy in 60fps, but no, "shiny cinematic guwafix" are more important. Damn, the PS4 can't even handle a remake of a PS1 game, and yeah I know it's build from the ground up, but for God's sake show us some evolution between the consoles, it's not like the PS4 can't handle a platformer like Crash. Super Mario Oddysey is more open ended and that actually runs at 60fps on a system far less powerful than the PS4, even the Wii could handle Super Mario Galaxy at 60fps, and now the "Almighty PS4" can't even handle hallway platformer above 30fps.

I had no idea the PS4 version only ran at 30fps. Makes me happy I decided to wait for the PC version.

I'm a PC gamer. I would've picked up a PS4 Pro if they had re-released an updated version of Crash Team Racing with this! I LOVE that game! I have fond memories playing that on my original PS1. Why they didn't include it with this trilogy is a missed opportunity.

I'm going to buy this regardless, but it should be 60fps. Infact, given the simplicity of the title, I had assumed 60fps/1080p even on the base model Ps4.

I kind of like the darker but still colorful art direction of the original better. The remaster is brighter than it should IMO.

I don't have a problem with the game being 30 FPS, since it's at least smooth and consistent... What I do have a problem was Crash N. Sane Trilogy being advertised at 60 FPS. That's some false advertising right there.

Coming to Xbox

The remaster isn't perfect, as I feel some of the levels lost some of the charm in the graphical updates (and some things look oddly realistic), but it overall looks really great. Definitely plan on picking it up at some point, although some other releases take priority this summer.

As a huge classic Crash fan I'm glad I waited for this to come out on PC. 1440p 30fps does not do the series justice at all. I'm playing on an older PC and it can run it at 4k 60fps with a couple settings turned down.

Halo: Master chief collection is a complete remake of original Xbox Halo games, and it runs at locked 60fps. Crash Bandicoot, a game with considerably lower graphics, animations and textures runs at 30 fps. Nice.
