Crash Bandicoot - PS4 vs. Switch Frame Rate Test & Graphics Comparison N. Sane Trilogy 

The Crash Bandicoot remaster called N. Sane Trilogy has made it to the Switch. But how is Nintendo's handheld holding up against other consoles? I think it's doing quite fine. Of course there are some limitations, but see for yourselves in my latest comparison PS4 vs. Nintendo Switch.

For a portable device it's an outstanding job. The Switch is being compared with a PS4, obviously there are differences in terms of shadows, fur quality and so on, but it's a really remarkable job!

I’m reading this comment section and losing so many brain cells. Reminds me of when people were arguing over what system Sonic Mania should be played on and which version has the best graphics. That’s right, arguing over the way a 32-Bit game looks graphically on different consoles.

Since I'm seeing some falsehoods in this comment section, let's state some facts: -Nobody is saying that the Switch has the best graphics. Anyone who does is stupid, and that's coming from a Switch owner. *It's a tablet.* -The game looks just fine on a Switch screen. You're just seeing it upscaled on whatever screen you're using to watch the video. -Nobody cares about the miniscule difference in how the fur looks unless you're really nitpicking. Playability wise, it's superb. -I see people saying that you can Remote Play the game from PS4 and play it anywhere. That's just stupid. You need a strong network connection for Remote Play, and if you want to play outside your house you'll be dealing with slow public WiFi or worse, data, which is far too slow for Remote Play. -Many people, like myself, don't rely on the Switch as their only console. We buy a PC for the big games and a Switch for portability. -The Switch version is very close to the PS4 version in FPS. It's not 5 FPS because that would be literally unplayable. My suggestion? Know your facts before you comment. Otherwise you're gonna cause an argument. Thanks.

Aside from the console war comments and trolls, i see others have noted how good of a port this is, and it seems like the switch versions holds that 30fps in game pretty well.

I got a platinum trophy for every game in this trilogy on the PS4, and a year later I've been playing the Switch version and i think I can say boldly that the port is perfectly fine! The graphical difference doesn't matter much because of the lower resolution

I play games to have fun (whatever the console), not to call out very minor details that were changed when a port of this game was made. Everyone should come together, XBOX players, Ps4 players, PC players, and Nintendo players, and simply stop fighting over which console is the best. We are all gamers. We all have our preference for our games and the system we play them on, and we shouldn't let small things take away our focus from fun, which is why video games were made. Fun. All consoles are equal. If you play one console but dislike another console, I won't take that away from you. In conclusion, play video games to have fun.

NO, Switch is NOT a graphical competitor of PS4. Switch is a handheld device, running on a incredibly small physical size. Nobody should expect switch to even compare to PS4 in that matter. With that said, no, i am not a nintendo fan boy and i dont even own a switch, but what i stated should be quite obvious.

It's not because that the 2 versions can't run 60 frames per second, it's because the developer is too lazy to make them run at 60, i mean cmon if really the switch can't run crash game at 60 frames per second, then how come the switch can run super mario odyssey at 60 fps, and Mario odyssey looks so damn gorgeous and so graphically better than crash ? Let's be honest, it's not about the lack of power, it's about the developer's work.

In terms of shadow and draw distance the PS4 is the clear winner. Other than that the Switch version was done phenomenally.

I appreciate how they actually darken the room for the hologram projections in the Switch port of Crash 2.

Considering the difference in hardware power here they did a bang up job keeping the look and feel of the game intact.

I love how people are so threatened by a portable console like the Switch they will scream how "bad" the port is at any given opportunity. Here's a news flash: the Switch isn't made to compete graphically with other consoles or a PC. It's made to be portable, to be played anywhere at any time. Even if the graphics are not as amazing, I'd like you to play your PS4 on a plane or on a bus. Bet you cant. Also, bet you cant play Smash Bros or any other Nintendo game on your PS4, so I guess you'll just miss out on some of the best games ever (yes, I know the Switch wont get games like Last of Us or God of War, but you'll miss every nintendo game, and Nintendo has one of the best track records in the industry)

The switch version looks closer to the OG honestly kinda like the way it looks better not to mention the fact that the switch is supposed to be way weaker compared to other systems yet it still looks this good? Come on Sony and Xbox this just means you guys should be doing even better

Really good port, constant 30fps, few downdrade in graphics, and most important that kind of things, the game is hell of fun to play

Have to wonder if there would've been better visual parity had they opted to remove the motion blur so as to leave room for other shader effects.

0:52 I do actually like Switch Crash more. The textures are more clean and more detailed in a different way. The PS4 _is_ more realistic, per se, cuz the fur actually pops out, but it doesn’t look as good to me. Everything else looks straight up worse in comparison. Slight blurred up and less shadow detail most of the time. The cutscenes spdint change all that much, however.

Btw all the people complaining on the Switch's framerate, have you noticed how it also goes above 30 FPS, when the PS4 doesnt lmao

Although Switch the switch versions of games are graphically inferior, I really fine with them as long as they have all the modes all other consoles have. Don't underestimate portability.

The difference seems to be that the lighting is a little softer on switch.

PC ver. in 6Ofps played much different than 3O.

The Crash model on Switch along with the lighting, makes Crash look closer to the original PS1 model. I don't know, I think thats just me imaging things.

The lighting looks way better without fur blur.

I own both versions (PS4 + Switch) and I can honestly say Nintendo’s offering has the better experience overall. The port does an excellent job of carrying over the same experience with minimal loss in graphical quality, hats off to Vicarious

I didn't realize how hard this game is to run, even on the ps4. I have an entry level pc and i can run this game at ultra settings 60 fps. Really surprised the Switch is able to hold up well compared these other consoles considering it's a handheld.

The Switch port is absolutely phenomenal.

I really do somewhat prefer the Switch version as I like how more cartoon Crash looks in it. I love the fur on Crash on PS4, but it wasn't something I was all excited about. Only nitpicks I have with the Switch is the text is blurry for some reason. And getting rid of the mirror effects on Ice and the Mirror in the future levels.

These comments are so sad... It's Crash Bandicoot! Fanboy or not, just enjoy the game! On Switch, some CPU-Heavy shaders have been removed and the draw distance has been slightly downgraded. The shadowing is superior to the PS4 version due to the lack of shaders and the model filling done by the shading makes Crash and others look more textured and realistic. The level texturing has become slightly foggier, but that's to be expected. Frame-rate is nearly identical; sometimes the Switch even hitting somewhere in between 40-30 fps in personal experience when docked. To me, this is a solid port and shows off just what the Switch is truly capable of. This also segway's into more Crash games on Switch, including the new CTR remaster + and maybe even a guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Just know you heard that from me first if it becomes a reality. #Crash4Smash

OMG LOOK AT THAT!! The fur texture is GONE!! And the shadows in the distance is SLIGHTLY DOWNGRADED!! BWAHAHAHAHA!! I don't care that they run exactly the same and look nearly identical during gameplay, these minuscule changes you notice when you stop and press your face up to the screens make it SHIT!!

Just so you know, these are the graphics in portable mode and you wouldn't be able to see the differences in the Switch's screen. When you go in TV mode with the switch the graphics and framerate goes much better.

Both look great and its classic Crash you cant go wrong especially on the go i plan on getting it for my switch sometime

I mean it's to be expected that the Switch version would not look as good as the other versions, it's not as powerful as the other platforms (obviously) but it's still a welcome port, and Toys for Bob did a great job with it. Being able to play the N. Sane Trilogy on the go is awesome! I hope since they're familiar with the Switch, they port Spyro to it next.

Nintendo fans say the switch takes the Cake for the best console BUT as soon as you compare it to a console it's suddenly not fair....fanboyism. classic. It's a glorified tablet that's reasonably priced. That's about it.oh and the battery life makes it almost not even portable.

Minor differences that can’t even be seen unless you compare them from top to bottom. Both versions are beautiful. PS4 will obviously be stronger in graphics but that doesn’t mean that the switch version is a poor port. It’s an excellent port and proof of that is in our UK CHARTS, rated as number 1 on switch. So there’s that.

During on Gameplay you cannot tell the difference. That small dip in frame rate you wouldn’t be able to detect. Amazing games. The only difference is the Switch version is ever so slightly darker. Having played both back to back the differences are extremely minimal.
