This is a Crash Course for Active Directory, DHCP & DNS for Entry Level Tech Support. Specifically designed so that it's easy to follow and understand. My 2nd Channel is @cobumankb

If you are not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you have received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\Windows\debug\dcdiag.txt. OK An error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "DC1.shahzeb". Been working as an IT for nearly 7 years.. Even though I have configured many complicated network setups throughout my career I've always had a doubt or ambiguous side when it comes to DNS...important thing is that you're explaining 'why you're doing this' when configuring which greatly helps to understand what's happening BTS... Please always explain why you're doing this as you did here in this video since most of the youtubers forget to do unfortunately.. Thank you mate for this great video and keep up the good work!!
I have a feeling both your channels are going to help me so much. I am hopefully starting a proper help desk job in the coming weeks, and AD, exchange, ms server were big in the job description. (my 1st job was focused on one epos software solution, so more focused on fixing it and general windows desktop issues, so i didnt really get to expand my troubleshooting experience beyond what was required to make sure the software was running on the tills) :)
Such a great refresher I really needed. So glad I stumbled across your videos! Thanks for being so informative (especially explaining when there are multiple ways to do something). Great pace also. Will be coming back for more!
Most Excellent! I did a search for "Using Active Directory" to find you and I'm glad I did. Your English is excellent. Your pace is excellent. The topics covered were excellent. I used to say "Used" Active Directory, but after viewing your tutorial, I may have to change that to "Exposed to" because I wasn't using it to do HALF the tasks you've covered. Nicely done!
As someone trying to get into the IT industry, Im working on getting my A+ cert now, and your vids are fantastic for me to actually see real world applicatio of AD and all this on a windows sever, Im going to see if i can get a windows server VM setup and figure out how to network it with my linux vm and my main win os now to see if i can use it to get hands on learning on networking etc. Thank you for making these awesome vids!
Present! This channel is a gold mine really. Straight to details, straight to the points, it's really a spoonfeed. For technical subjects as these that's the best explanations one can hope for. Thank you very much for all these tutorials. Helps tremendously!
@@Cobuman , I downloaded RSAT: "Active DirectoryDomain Services and Leighweight Directory Services Tools" from Optional Features Tab on my WIndows 11 Pro. I want to add Active Directory to it now. I have Server Manager, but when I click on "Manage", "Add Roles and Features" the following pop-up error window appars: "Either there are no servers in the Server Manager server pool, or there are no servers that support remote installation or removal of roles and features. To add supported servers, use the Add Servers command on the Manage menu of the Server Manager console", What do I do wrong? WHat shall I do step by step? WOuld you be able t ohelp here, please?🙏
I recently applied for a job and during the interview I was asked to set up a DNS server with detailed information off the top of my head, on video, of which I never have IRL. Even though I was trained in school, I just couldn't do it without seeing the interface to jog my memory. The time I spent on this three part review was concise and understandable. I think I could pull it off now. In retrospect, I think the charge was a bit broad in the request. Seeing how it could be done like this or like that. Never mind which OS are we referring to.
Present! I learned a lot. I'm just a little confused between DHCP and DNS but I hope I can use this video and get hired for my upcoming interview for my very first IT support job. Thank you so much for your free tutorial :) Thumbs up!
Just got my A+ Certification but because I don't have work experience in IT, I'm getting Homelab experience and this video is very valuable to me. I also have a similar homelab setup with Windows Server vm running my ADDS, DHCP and DNS. I also have some other VMS which are part of my domain that I can manage and connect through AD. Thank you for this video
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You made this very easy to follow and understand. Got a subscriber out of me for sure! Looking forward to seeing more of your content.
40:55 into the video, and let me tell you sir, you just made me realize how beautiful it is and how powerful it makes you feel when you are part of IT administration. Everything works like magic, and to practice further more i will use few vertual machines, and mess with them. This also made me realize that if you have kids, just set up a little network environment and it will be easy to control them. I never thought it was this beautiful, btw i am currently studying for A+ and Network+. This course just makes me want to get in IT more than ever. Hats off to you ❤️
Great job Cobuman. Your videos are easy to understand and straight to the points. Maybe to extend lessons regarding GPO and some common GPO settings. Sve najbolje
Man this is wonderful it's really helpful and inspiring and exciting for people like me who are just getting started with all this stuff.much appreciated.
Congrats bro can u tell how u got the job in bank and what salary we can expect as a desktop engineer. Then how many days u worked as help desk. I m interested in this field so dont mind i m in beginning stage.
@@raghuraghu1521 No problem. I was “help desk” for 3 years at my uncles fiber optics construction company. The reason I quote is because the issues were never very complex. Never needed to understand AD or cmd or anything but I did a lot of break fix. I put that on my resume as well as the work I did at home to understand the things I was missing. I understand I’m no expert but doing that shows an employee initiative and a willingness to learn. On top of that I stated in my interview that I’m currently working towards getting my A+ which was huge. They said it was required for my position and I didn’t have it but because I’m working towards it and they liked that. Now they’ll reimburse me for my exam when I do take it. Cool huh? Salary depends on your location. I’m making $20/hr which is high for the city I’m in but somewhere like Houston you can easily hit 28$-35$/hr as Desktop Support. It’s very competitive in those areas though so idk if you can finesse not having a cert as easily. Hope this helps
@@raghuraghu1521sorry to be helpful this video gives you the skills to earn around 15$-25$ per hour depending on where you live. If you are in a tech hub you might be able to make 30$ an hour with this level of work but it’s unlikely in a smaller tier city
Here! My partner recommended that I come to your channel! I just recently got my A+ and your videos are super helpful to understand the day to day that I might experience when I land my first tech position. Thank you so much!
Hi @janaijones1898 hope this message finds you well. I was wondering if you have landed yourself a job. I just got my A+ recently and would love to hear your experience. 😊
@@locumania Sorry to get to this so late! I got my A+ and I'm now working as a Technical Support Analyst! I will say the information that you learn is helpful, but there is a lot of real world experience that you don't just get with a certification. I am now making $24 an hour this early in my career and I expect to go further now that I've gotten some experience. Hopefully this helps!
@@danieljohn7956 Hey! So like I recently mentioned, the A+ opened the door, and I am glad to have gotten it, but it does not replace real world experience working with the concepts that you learn unless you make a considerable effort to do so. I'm looking forward to continuing my career in IT! Hope this helps!
This was great. I understand the “concepts” of how these things work. But knowing how to implement that base knowledge in the real world is hard to understand without doing it in person or seeing a good walkthrough like this. Thank you
Present. Also i just wanna say thank you for the educational videos cuboman. Literally all you need to know about Desktop Support is found in your videos. Also love your interview prep videos. Helped me a ton.
I'm enrolled (started) in a networking course and this is actually the first video i've found that shows and explains it in a way i can follow along and understand it. Finally 👍👍 i didn't check but i hope you have more of them. Good job.
I have just started a journey to IT but have not yet configured servers and higher devices that accept home and office routers. I would like to acquire more lessons from your crash course.
Hi, brilliant video, was hard for me to wrap my head around active directory, but the way you explain it makes it clear for me, so many thanks for your great work. I appreciate it.
Thank You Cobuman, i make a effort to watch your video again and again ..make sure i have deep understanding to apply for job...Thank U very much...Robin hood
Present! Next wednesday (2/28) I got a trial day for a MSP. They are giving me an opportunity (its paid day also) to see how i do. Thank you for your videos!
I've got an interview with Amazon corporate tomorrow for level I IT Support Engineer and even though I received a Bachelor's in IT, my last role wasn't necessarily IT so I'm using all your content to refresh and get ready for my interview! Thank you!
@@drewcross9927 I got to final stage - however they conduct a lot of behavioral style interviews (4 hours) and unfortunately I don't think I had enough examples prepared. So, I wasn't able to answer the questions so great. They chose someone else. I did pretty okay on the technical portion though, whicj were only a few questions. This was my first time in a heavy behavorial-style interview.
Nice and easy way to understand about dns and dhcp concept i would like to thanks for your teaching . Use 'dot symbol' for mouse cursor going to next octane of ip address
