Emperor Ashoka was Budhist 4years before he massacared the Kalingas. The verna system is adopted worldwide but it is emphasized more only to Hindus. Nobody is a Bhramin, Shastrya,Shudra or Vyshya by birth, it is only through his occupation he is defined and moreover all together can form and function as society , a society is like a human body and a body cannot function without head or feet or hands etc,. It is also interesting to note that Lot many rishis or sages of ancient India were non Bhramin and were titled as Bhramin for their knowledge.

And sir u have said Bhagwan Rishabhdeva was the founder of Jainism which is true but the time period u gave is wrong...common sense is that how come 24 Tirthankaras came into existence between 7 Bce and 5Bce that means 24 Tirthankaras in just 200 years...pls stop providing wrong knowledge .... And Rishabhdeva was the first Tirthankara in this Avaspirini Kaal on earth in these kaal ... infinite kaals have been passed and each time there are different Tirthankaras every time....life comes into existence and finishes ( a kaal chakra) so it goes on continuing ... each time Tirthankaras comes and spread Jainism.... so Jainism is there from the very time of existence which is not known or can be said it was alwasys, it is, and will always be there...

Indeed vivid and clear explanation. It would be much greater if you could add Sikhism in comparison and continuous reformation of Hinduism over the time. Guru Nanak is the final reformer of Hinduism. As we know his parents were aslo Hindu Brahmins.

Dear Sir, Jainsm is one of the most ancient religions !!!! Its edvent can be traced back in the beginning of Satyayuga....i. e even long long b4 1500BC... Only thing is that is wasn't recognised as a religion that time.... And yugas later Lord Mahaveer established it as JAINISM..... Actually Jainsim and Hindusim are interconnected ....Those who are not Jains and reading this comment might interest u to know that Lord Neminath (22nd Tirthankar in Jain) was cousin brother of Lord Krishna.

When you study vedant and buddhism deeply than you will know that these are not different but their medium of expression is different.

As a matter of fact, the oldest archaeological evidence established in India is from 5000-6000 BCE. Indeed, Lord Mahavir is the 24th Tirthankara born in 6th century BC. However, Lord 'Shri Adinath' aka 'Shri Rishabanatha' (the first Tirthankara) footprint date way back in Time. (as per the Jain text). The followers of Tirthankaras or those who aspire to conquer their inner enemies came to be known as Jains. Jainism is/ means - "Ahinsa Parmo Dharma." Translation = "Non-violence is the greatest religion."

Correction 1.Varna system of vedic period is diff. Frim today's Cast system .....because it based on your work not by your birth.... Like cast system today baded on birth.... 2. Ashok was already a bhuddist during kaling war...

There is a big difference between "Verna" and "Jaati" sir, #don't_mix_it...."verna+ restriction = Jaati". Verna had no problem everyone was free to change their verna according to their capability...

Religions were made according to their time. Which means we need to constantly amend these practices. Just sticking to one orthodox Religion is dangerous.

Jainism first thirthankara was Bhagwaan Adinath and Bhagwaan Mahavira was 24th tirthankara and it is believed every 200 years one thinkanjara is born, so Jainism is around 5200 years old while it has come out of shravan path at that time two path existed vedic and shravan, that is why you will find thousands of Jain temples still existed as jains were majority but due to tough path they reduced to very few now they believe in non violence of mind and body.

sir , I have seen Sri Lanka and they say their Buddhism is “Theravada “ and their temples have lord vishnu, Lakshmi, Ganesh etc . They say same sect is observed in Thailand ( i am personally not aware). In Nepal ( I am closely associated due to relations), they say they are “Mahayana” and they certainly worship Lord गणेश . In Ladakh & Sikkim Buddhists don't worship Lord गणेश । Can you please give a good lecture on Buddhist sects please ??

It's incorrect to say Rishabhdev founded Jainism. Rishabhdev was the first of the 24 tirthankars in the CURRENT time cycle. In the previous time cycles, there were different tirthankars. Also, Rishabhdev's birth year estimate is totally off. Neminath who was 22nd tirthankar was born around Krishna's time. So Rishabhdev's birth was several thousands of years before him.

Instead of schedule tribes u should say adivasi. As that time there was no schedule having tribes listed in it. Also i think merchants were more drawn to Jainism rather than Buddhism. It was actually shudras who embraced Buddhism in great numbers.

Jainism is the oldest religion. Lord Mahavira was a 24th tirthankar And before that there were 23th trithankar so Jainism is the oldest religion and we can say it is not a religion it is way of life to get liberation.

"Heaven"??? Who mentioned anything about "heaven" in Dharmik religions? There is no concept of "Heaven" in Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism. Savarna *includes* Dalits as well. Scheduled Tribes on the other hand are *Tribes* and have nothing to do with Hinduism. They may or may not follow it. And what is wrong with people believing Aryan Theory? I saw a video of yours which was good. This was completely opposite. Totally misleading. Try to make videos about things that are well known to you. 👍

It is good to know that people tried to change things in the past. But the overall system is flawed in so many ways that people should now question it after studying it well. The thoughts should be more dynamic and should have common sense. Respecting life is the number one thing one should do. These religions which later came, have no respect for life as such. Hinduism still needs changes. Preaching good thoughts and understanding basic fundamentals is of prime importance. Thank you for the lovely summary of the religions, Amit.

I learnt the Buddhism and Buddhist history, but not everything the same as you mentioned here for instance when the Buddha learnt some meditation techniques from his teachers. He learnt the meditation from two main Bramin teachers, Alara and Tabassa, not from Jainism, but the Buddha did not find those teaching to reach the enlightenment. I also have been visited those places of the main Bramin in India.Therefore, he left those teachers for a self search of new meditation, known as the Eight Full Path or Middle ways which made him the Buddha. Cheers.

No sir I don't agree with you. U said that that Vedic religion was born when Aryan arrives but it is not true ... U have to remember that before writing down the Vedas, it was sruti for many years. And even in vedas writers write about the Indian subcontinent geography not the geography of Iran or Eurasia. Hindu elements were also present in India before Aryans arrival. The nature worship along with the statues of the God/ goddesses. Archeologist have found religious water bodies, Shiva lingam, statue of mother goddess in Indus valley civilization.

I just happened to watch your video I hope you go through the Supreme Court judgement which says Jainism is equally old if not older than Hinduism. Even during the vedic religion Jainism existed. Even in some Vedas you will find the name of thirthankaras mentioned there

Actually Buddhism was spread in Tibet and China by Nepalese princess Bhrikuti who married King Songstan Gampo of Tibet in 7th century AD. Anyways, a very informative video. Thanks

Some issue with timeline..1st tirthankar Rushabh dev came much earlier than 700 bce.For that matter 23 tirthankar prashvnath came 250 years earlier than bhagwan Mahaveer..

Hi Amit. Although I appreciate the hardwork you put into collating the data for this research, I'd beg to differ from your findings for Jainism. I wont be able to pen down all the facts of Jainism here because its a small space, but just to name a few facts that are wrongly put by you are: 1. Although Mahavir swami bhagwan was the last tirthankar and Rishabhdev bhagwan was the first, the era of Rishabhdev goes way beyond you can calculate*. This proves that Mahavir swami bhagwan hasnt made up a new religion, but carried on the legacy which Rishabhdev bhagwan laid the foundation for endless years ago. 2. Mahavir swami bhagwan's parents were Kshatriya, agreed, but were not followers of Vedic religion. As a matter of fact they were followers of Parshwanath bhagwan - the 23rd Tirthankar who preceded Mahavir swami bhagwan. Not all Kshatriyas are followers of Vedic religion. 3. Mahavir swami bhagwan was not tired of the caste system and hence wanted to bring in a new religion different from Vedic. Through immense meditation, he got liberated from all karmas and attained true knowledge. This true knowledge is possessed by all our souls, but we cant use it cos of karmic particles covering on it. Mahavir swami bhagwan (like previous 23 tirthankars) attained 'Samyag Gyan or Kevalgyan' which helped him see 3 major karmic principles: Upnei vaa, Vighmei vaa, Dhuvei vaa: Tattva gets generated*/takes a formation, Tattva gets destroyed*/ vanishes in formation, Tattva remains in its steady form (You should search for 'Tripadi' online. You may find it in digambar or shwetambar scriptures). 4. Jain monks do not go through self suffering. The basis of this statement is that jainism believes body and soul are 2 different entities. While soul is awake and enlightened, body is mere a collection of karmic particles which will disperse when a person dies. The soul will always remain. Hence whatever penance / sacrifices jain monks go through, they enjoy it because not only its relieves them of the karmic bondage on their soul, but also determines their belief that body and soul are different. Body is just a means to either collect good/bad karmas as also to get rid of good/bad karmas. A true jain monk will never find it difficult to observe penance as also penance for everyone is different according to to their personal body capacity. 5. You mentioned of Samrat Ashok spreading Buddhism, but you must research about Samprati king who was the grandson of Samrat Ashok. He had spread Jainism through many borders across countries. 6. Jainism, as we can understand, is not a new born religion. It uses the karmic principles/laws of nature which do not change in any given point in time. Hence irrespective of which Tirthankar preaches it, the teachings have never changed and in future too will never change. Its a way of life, which if followed appropriately, will make you free from 8 karmic bondages, exposing your soul's true 8 qualities (true knowledge being one such quality). 7. Jainism empowers anyone to become a Tirthankar or Siddha because there are no bhagwans and disciples in true sense. All being are ultimately souls, who can relieve themselves of their karma and get liberated. As a matter of fact, jainism acknowledges that bhagwan Ram has attained Moksha in this life as Ram, and that lord Krishna will attain moksha in futute after 2 more lives. You seem to be a researcher, hence I'd suggest you to learn more about Jainism. You will be truly surprised in learning the karmic calculations, simple everyday life questions and past-present lives and reasons. And all this is worth believing because its preached by Tirthankars who were free from attachment and anger (raag and dwesh) and hence had no reasons to lie or give biased outlooks of life. Hope your feelings/beliefs were not attacked by me in any sense. I just wanted to share the truth with you.. Thank you.
