Gotta give the writers credit for the story, over the games you do see Cortex become less and less afraid of Uka Uka and it makes sense that Uka Uka would replace him after enough failures.
And then next game, Cortex finally usurps him and takes revenge. This truthfully fits Cortex way more than just being a toady, a guy who plays nice for a while but is always plotting to take control on anyone who tries to kick him around.
And that's why the villains fail to defeat Crash: Because they are all sociopaths and psychopaths, with a mask who rules them through fear, rather than respect, so its obvious that they lack a genuine ethic of teamwork; they won't allow any other the glory of defeating Crash and his friends.

Crash Tag Team Racing was the last game to feature the original designs, Crash got tattoos, a slimmer body, Aku & Uka got a major change, Tiny is less muscular and sounds like a wussier version of Mike Tyson with Army clothes. got redesigns this is a reboot. Oh and the gameplay is definitely like the originals. Its decent at best.
this game itself wasn't bad but the redesigns are just atrocious and revolting especially for the masks and making crash only speak like an intellectually disabled fool
in crash 2/3 no one voiced crash and since his death sounds is incoherent babble, they thought he was an idiot but in the advertisements for crash two he has an Australian voice. also the mask redesigns are just so different

Tinys redesign I think is the worst. It just completely changes the character and ruins any chance of thinking of him as a villain. It would be like remaking ripper roo and not having him be insane, and blue.

It's even crazier in Mind Over Mutant. Loved this game when it came out, everything was great, the gameplay, the story, the writing, the humour, the one thing wrong with it was it didn't feel like a crash game.

I love the mutants saga, I would love if they had continued this sub-series, but without abandoning the Classic Crash, making the Classic Crash the main saga, releasing new games in it's style, and then make of the mutants saga a secondary saga that happens at an alternative dimension future, like Sonic Riders.
I grew up with the original Crash series in the 90s, but still kind of liked the new games. I guess it's sort of like a reverse nostalgia-goggles thing; I liked the old games so much that I can't bring myself to hate the new ones.
There's actually a 4th wall break when Tiny was saying that he wasn't invited to the previous game, Crash: Boom Bang and how Tiny was butthurt about it.
