This is why, while they're funny too....ish, it's better than even the writing of COTT and MON. Those two seem to have had a joke philosophy of: "I'M MR MEESEEKS LOOK AT ME! FUNNY GAG! POP CULTURAL ATTENDANCE! I'M SHOUTING! I'M THE UNNECESSARY CENTER OF ATTENTION!
With the sucess of the N.Sane Trillogy, i'm hoping they might reach out to the original team behind this game, and try to do a remaster of this game with everything in it. Supposedly someone from the team behind this game reached out to activision, congratulated them for the N.Sane Trillogy, and hinted at possibly bringing back Twinsanity. I'd be over the moon! But i'm not holding my breath.
Actually he has 3, he says "Dr. Cortex, you are magnificent!" during the Mechabandicoot fight (not in this video since it's during gameplay) and "Yes, we are rich!" in the Evil Twins' treasure room. Still, better than Brio who has zero lines for some reason...
The developers were so rushed to finish the game it's missing a lot of polish: sound effects, animation smoothing, clipping etc. They even made a joke about it at 22:25 saying they didn't have time to make the second dimmension. Holy shit, THIS GAME IS HILARIOUS
Kadeem The Dream I love how aware this game is. They put alot of time, effort, and love into this game, but time constraints forced them to cut out half of the game, leave things unfinished and unexplained, yet they poke fun at it, and even poke fun at a previous game they did. I love this game and the team behind it.
Insert cool name. Up until like last night I thought that the joke was he loves her so much, he looks at her like a daughter rather than a niece and he just doesn’t want to admit it. Please tell me I’m not the only one looking at this in a wholesome light!
Ed SkyNight to summarize the joke is that cortex slept with his brother’s wife and had Nina as a result and he’s just trying to make sure nobody finds out.
Even surpasses him, his jump is higher than Crash's double jump, and his slide attack is stronger as it KILLS the shielded enemy while Crash's only knocks off the shield. Crash Slam is probably stronger tho
@@neotricksterzero143 is that a reference to that one line from the music by smash mouth called all star? (which is feature in some films, the most famous is in the digimon movie and Shrek 1)
Foxy Gamer Ehh....I'll let traveler's tales off the hook. They weren't with crash from the very beginning, so maybe they didn't know about that part of the lore. Or.....maybe they did, and it was just a joke that wasn't meant to be taken soo seriously.
@@firered65060 We don't need CTTR remake because we already have these characters in CTR NItro Fueled Pasadena, Chick, Stew and Ebenezer Von Clutch only Willie Wumpa Cheeks and Park Drone are left to be in CTR.
@@AFarmerCalledChicken I think it's because it's the sequel to Wrath of Cortex which is... not great. There's a reason that the new game is called the 4th despite that. I do wish Twinsanity would get a remaster though.
9:27 made me laugh so hard as a child... it was just so doopy seeing the zoom in of their face and the fish. also "should of been 2 dimensions but we ran out of time" is that why this game was unfinished. was their a whole chunk of this game missing!!!
the current system couldn't handle it and they ran out of time...if they made a remastered they said it would take more than a year to put in the content that was removed
Foxy Gamer In my opinion, they should do that. I'd Defintely buy it and see how good it is. Not only would there be more content, but it would most likely look better and have a lot of bug fixing.
Travellers Tales were given an almost impossible deadline. Even though this gives almost half of the game lost to time, its also why they just gave up and had fun with it. You can tell they had a blast with the writing
SonicGman2001 funnily enough i have it and it was a decent game. shame it didn't sell as well. but with all the missing content from twinsanity i wonder how many more self aware jokes would have been made
Looking back at on Twinsanity, despite how funny it can be, you can really tell how rushed the game feels. Despite the decent voice acting, a lot of the audio feels empty and inconsistent, most of it either dialogue or background music that hasn't been sound-mixed properly. I bet a lot of the jokes would've been even funnier if they actually added sound effects. Some characters don't even make noise, like when watching N.Brio transform (16:26), you don't hear him jerking in pain or making goofy noises. It's disjointing and awkward.
TheTJWorks Have to add, seeing Brio in this game is jarring. He comes out of nowhere, and all of a sudden his motivation is treasure, and he's working with N.Tropy, a character he never knew before. Also, why is N.Tropy interested in treasure?! The N.Tropy part is the most jarring and confusing part of the game. You can tell it was rushed and that they had no time to flesh out certain things, or explain things properly. It sucks. This is one of the best games in the crash bandicoot series because of how humerous it is, how much personality it gave Cortex, and how quirky the game is. I adore it. It sucks that they essentially cut half of the game out.
N. Cortex: "The past few years have been kinda slow. _Wrath of Cortex_ didn't do as well as we'd hoped and..." Penguin: *Gargling Noises* N. Cortex: :-| "...Fish?" Me: xD
Karllum Augustine Crash and Spyro have this strange connection with each other. Both were fantastic plat formers that were considered to be mascots for the PlayStation, both were left behind by their creators, both series changed drastically later on, and were considered dead.
+ERROR: #290384AC Actually, that's because Universal owned the distribution rights to both series back in the day, all the way at the beginning with the PS1 games. On top of that, Naughty Dog and Insomniac, who developed Crash and Spyro respectively, worked in the same building and had a good friendship between each other. And while they left the series during the PS2 days, Universal still owned both so they were able to put Crash and Spyro in each other's games.
Jasper Jones thats true, you'd have to get a ps1, ps2, or old gen ps3 to play the first 3 or the N sane trilogy which is the remastered version on ps4. That is really tempting me to get one!
This is probably the only video game that made me laugh regularly, especially as a kid. The writing was actually great. Like, it could've passed for a really good Cartoon Network show. Sucks that CTTR and beyond had a 5 year old writing the dialogue. I mean Christ, I actually had to mute that game because the characters were so annoying. On an unrelated note, I think this kind of open world-ish game actually felt like a natural progression from the original Naughty Dog games. I hope they go this direction again after the remasters.
I completely agree with you. Twinsanity's writing and dialogue were so well written. It is one of the main reasons it is my favorite Crash Bandicoot game. It doesn't have the "5 year old"-like dialogue, and it kind of showed me a new world to me as kid, just because of its adult-like, ironic, self-aware dialogue
Paulo Cezar Glad to see others agree aswell, although I doubt it will ever happen I would love to see this game remastered heck maybe even fully developed with some of the cut stuff added in.
David Lynch I hear ya. This game was fun, the characters were well done, and Cortex was still smart, somewhat competent, and somewhat threatening. After this game, he pretty much became a brain dead, joke-cracking Dr. Neo Cortex cosplayer with Dr. Wily's hair.
I have different thoughts on this game. The humour was pretty lame and unoriginal. We've seen the "bee-thing gag" and other things in almost every Looney Tunes cartoon. The've went reeeeeally low on the standards. Jokes made me do facepalms. The voice actors aren't bad though - they just had terrible script. And about the "open world" thing - it COULD have been good, if it wasn't for the awful method of going through same levels to get to the needed one. If you've missed one gem then you had to needlessly repeat other levels.
@LukeInside Yeah, I agree with you. To me, the humor really wasn't all that interesting, funny or original and was more on the side of cringe-inducing and cliche. But still, it was nowhere near as bad as the crap from CTTR, COTT and CMOM. And while we're sharing unpopular opinions on this game, Twinsanity to me seemed to be a budget Jak And Daxter game. And I actually played Twinsanity _before_ J&D. Once I got my hands on Jak And Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, I actually tossed Twinsanity in the trash.
@@aimfuldrifter considering they were short on money and time it's one of the better crash games. Can't hold a candle to the originals but the soundtrack was brilliant, some of the writing was good save for the awful villains. Cortex actually got a lot of time and the difficulty was decent. Plus they at least tried to add an actual story.
19:13 Honestly, this is kinda cute, I can imagine Cortex playing with a much younger Nina like that. Also, if Cortex is actually her dad, then who the hell let him smash??
11:00 I like this one. Shows that Uka Uka isn't a generic ancient evil - he is intelligent, he likes challenges, he isn't just hellbent to destroy something. There's always something behind his reasons and he can also be good, as he shows it to Aku Aku. Even Aku is happy about it, considering the "The Aku and Uka brothers, together again".
I wouldn't consider uka uka to be capable of good, in twinsanity it seems more like a "I'll help defeat a greater evil for my own benefit" as opposed to helping for the good of others
@@PikminandOatchi My guess: Cortex has a brother who got married, but Cortex cheated with the wife. Nina was born sometime after, and there's a good chance she's actually Cortex's daughter instead of niece.
"HEY HEY HEY! Yeah you! I've been doing this for 10 stinkin years, back and forward, back and forward, and I'M SICK OF IT! Well I'm not gonna do it no more!"
This was the worst Crash game I've ever played. Humour is pathetic and gags are so cliched that early Looney Tunes cartoons had better scripts. The design, controls and voice acting are hundred light years behind first three games.
LukeInside Finally someone say something true... thanks dude. I think this game is one of the worst shit I ever play. The soudtrack is just creepy as Fuck. Aweful memories ...
The character design, music, and humor of this game is perfect and what really made this Crash game the best out of all of them . Even if rushed it will always be my favorite
You can download a rom for free and run it on a ps2 emulator. Just make sure to download the PAL version because I had some issues with the NTSC one (the game can freeze after defeating Dingodile).
I loved how Cortex was so chrarismatic during the entire game. It really made me disappointed as a kid that previous or later Crash games he was just a mad scientist with no character development at all
Highlights: Cortex is just gold in this game. Like, no, really, he's the best. Also, disguising as Coco was pretty funny, though how he got her clothes is probably one of the more sketchy things in this game... BEEEES! haha. That penguin and the "wrath of cortex" thing made me crack up. Glad to see the two mask brothers actually make a small effort together in this story. ... Only for them to get foiled later! Aaaand cortex snowboarding! Wait, what?! They slide through a strip club?! That's even more raunchy than cortex presumably stripping coco! Aaand unfortunately N. Gine or whatever his name is does not get much of a chance to speak. Gonna be skipping through a few other cinematic points here, Nina cortex is cool I guess. WHOA MAMA WHY DOES THE SCHOOL OF EVIL PRINCIPLE HAVE HOOTERS THAT BIG?! Skipping stuff just cuz! Also, Coco came at a really bad time! I love the narrative and emotional dissonance between Cortex describing his memories and Cortex's actual feelings during the night of his experiment! HOLY CRAP SPYRO! GUYS DID YOU SEE THAT?! The twins were quite unremarkable in my opinion. If they got ate like hot stinkin' turkey by an evil version of crash, then I don't care I guess. Wait... What the f***? Cortex looked like he was gonna do something cool, but we all know he can't have his way. But to fail that bad as to end up in crash's brain while he imagines himself doing that famous dance? That's really frikken weird, but at least it's not anything as perverse as the perhaps not child appropriate moments found much earlier! Also, Cortex's fear of heights canonically makes sense, especially after the first game's ending.
They really should make a game like this again. It's easily one of the best in the series. Open world gameplay Great variety in levels and environments Hilarious cutscenes L.L. is great as Cortex A cappella music suits Crash really well Boss fight at the end is fucking awesome
Daniel Gonzalez Yup! A fantastic game, the last really good crash bandicoot game. It stands up with the classics, in my opinion. This game tries something new, and has a lot of personality! I love it! It's a shame that it's soo glitchy and broken. The glitches are pretty fun though.....lol But really, this game was really rushed, and that really screwed it over, quality wise.
Foxy Gamer they'll probably make it too real and ugly if they do. I don't cortex to have a rounder head and I don't want to be able to distinguish individual hairs on crash
Honestly this is the best voice work Lex Lang has done for Cortex, really do hope future games try to have a similar sense of humor because its where he's at his best.
Such a shame this game didn't get more time to be made. It's still great for what it is though, and it will always be my favorite. The team that worked on this were very passionate about the series, and it really shows.
This game will always have a special place in my heart. It has so many flaws and it’s so short but it still manages to deliver such a fun experience. The levels that weren’t cut are all so good. The openness of the level design was so exciting to me after the more linear Crash games that came before it, the humour is spot on and the music is so memorable. I don’t want a remaster unless they were to hugely expand on the game and include all cut content and more.
This game was a rushed mess, yet it still manages to be a fun, hilarious, memorable experience. That is just amazing. I'd love a remake just so they can include all the cut content and make everything 10x better.
watching this made me cry it was the last actual high quality funny game i played & even with the current gen this game is still a masterpice of fun time
0:45 "It is I, Aku-Aku! My duty is to protect you. You may summon me by breaking open these crates. Call me thrice and I will grant you special powers." - Aku Aku /Hit Nitro crates while having Invinsibility = Exploded and died Me: God damnnn Aku Aku YOU LIE !!!! :
yeah the titan ones weren't too bad but most of us gave them shit for not being platformers and whatnot, still though, you could argue it's the last real platformer game
"MY AIRSHIP! Without it, we're stranded! 'Tie it to something secure', I said! Hurry Nina, or you'll MISS THE BUS!" I've have never played Twinsanity, but I friggin' love that line!
hen_tie lol stfu almost everyone had a crush on coco at that time even till now lol probably just wanna express it to coco in general I suppose, nothing weird about it
6:43- 6:50 Kortex: Im a evil scientist what did you expect this isn't a game. Excuse me this is a game and you know it also you have to fix the forth wall now... again
Hands down my favorite game of all time. Had so many memories playing this game as a child and playing it today is even better. I love this game to death.
There's a certain magic to how this game manages to avert most lighthearted and wacky tropes, and go straight into the territory of the best feel-good movies.
Also they're the only and(possibly Madam Amberly too)Crash characters that actually get killed off. Von Clutch from Tag Team Racing doesn't count due to that game not being canon
