The runner is just so nice, try scrolling the comments a bit and you'll see that he answered most of them... I swear, speedrunning communities are the best
I like to come back here once in a while because the comments make me smile and give me motivation :) Your comment made me smile too so thank you for that!
Hey, everyone! Runner here! If you have any questions about the run or about me, feel free to ask :D Also my Twitch recently had a name change! You can watch me at twitch.tv/Violin
@@TheNaturalGamer1 After the most recent update the game has been a lot of fun! However, online lobbies still disconnect frequently and the net code can be very bad, so it's far from perfect. When I play against other speedrunners without items it's so much fun.
@@ffx5846 The physics of this game are similar to the original, but it lacks the consistency that the original had. Sometimes I'm unable to jump or drift in certain areas of certain tracks, and that really takes away from the immersion that I had with CTR as a kid. The blue fire mechanic really sets the remake apart from the original in a good way, but I just wish there was more consistency in the driving overall.
Awesome run Violingamer! My biggest issue with CTRNF is just how much invisible geometry there is that wasn't there in the original CTR and CNK that make speedrunning that much more luck-based, and it sucks that you hit a few of them, but always happy to see this game represented at speedrun events! You did a great job playing and explaining everything.
Absolutely love the way he describes and plays the game. This is how it’s played‼️ yes yes yes beautiful fence jump! And wow I didn’t know the story behind it after playing for 18 years
Amazing video, casters are sick, gameplay is great, good advises, much respect between the two and not too invasive donations. Really is a masterpiece of a video
I didn’t know Violin_Gamer speedran CTR I mean I watched his KH challenge runs, both games that were essential to my early gaming. This run was informative and awesome!
Just curious which game does the CTR speedrun community prefers to run? This game "feels" faster (and blue fire) but comes with some rng elements that seems detrimental for speedruns. Definitely not seeing this game replacing the OG completely, even in terms of playing it leisurely. Asking for curiosity sake, not hating any sides here~
I personally prefer to run Nitro Fueled but I know plenty of people who prefer the original. I will admit that the original CTR is definitely more mechanically consistent than this game, but this game is just more exciting for me personally.
As someone whose won a tournament with 400+ entrants from accross the UK, i can tell you that this game is terrible when everyone is the 'same' skill level. It's purely based on rng on what items you get and how lucky you are getting missiles bombs or shield at the start makes or breaks the whole race
Is there an option to turn off those speed trails behind the Kart's wheels? Pretty distracting and a bizarre addition to what looks like a pretty decent remaster.
Sorry for seeing this late! You can actually equip different wheels without the trail effect! This game has a lot of different customization options so it's completely up to personal preference :)
I haven't played this game in way more than 10 years, and I still remember most of the tracks. Just goes to show that my brain is full of all kinds of useless crap.
The old All Cups run is now called 28 Tracks and we have a new category called 32 tracks! I wouldn't be surprised if we got 36 Tracks and even 40 Tracks later down the line.
I really wish they hadn’t killed off the Adventure mode from the PS1 version. That actually made it way different from other racing games like Mario Kart
The run was originally submitted as All Cups Medium back when difficulties on the leaderboard were split, but at the time of the run all of the difficulties were merged into one All Cups category, where most people played on Easy. Easy and Medium are essentially the same during the speedrun and we do the same exact thing.
46:19 "Shotouts to developers being involved with speedrunners" 40:04 "There have been a lot of skips that have been patched out" If first statement was the case then those skips wouldn't have been patched out for speedrunners to exploit lmao, what a contradiction.
We can still speedrun the game on 1.0, but it does make sense for devs to patch out glitches from a game that is so focused on online. However, I do think a good compromise would be to leave the glitches in during offline play. I personally enjoy how the current state of the speedrun is, though. It still takes an enormous amount of skill to place high on the leaderboards.
