Crash Team Racing - The Greatest Of All Time? [Review] 

The not being able to stop playing thing is exactly how I feel about nitro fueled. I did everything. Platinum relics, dev time trials (multiple times) played a shit ton of online, bought the ps4 version just to do platinum trophy and now dev trials for the billionth time. the mechanics are so good.

17:02 tbf, Oxide was going to be playable but he got omitted due to limitations. He was the highest-poly character in the game and ND didn't had time to optimize it and such.

Also, that was kind of the point of Oxide's inclusion in the first place, allegedly. Allegedly speaking, Naughty Dog wanted this character to kill the Crash franchise because they were just done with the game and the amount of crunch they were put through. They, of course, failed.

Something I never understood about the gaming community is that it seems like most of them have this weird hate boner for other kart racing games. They basically feel like they're all just Mario Kart clones and nothing more. They'll always say other kart racers feel janky, but they're the same people who try to convince themselves that Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 are these flawless masterpieces. It's just delusional asf to me. As much as I enjoy Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart Wii (my #1 favorite kart racer), those games aren't perfect either. Someone recently did a poll on if gamers prefer Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and Mario Kart Tour. Mario Kart Tour got 73% of people's votes while Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled only got 27%. I'm sorry, but that's biased asf. How is a mobile game that's hardly doing the bare minimum better than a console game ? Games like KartRider: Drift and Disney Speedstorm also outshine Mario Kart Tour, but they'll never receive praise unfortunately. Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Mickey's Speedway USA were my introduction to the kart racing genre. In my opinion, CTR and Mickey's Speedway aged better than MK64.

I think the logic on why u can’t switch racers in the story mode was that everyone is competing with each other for the opportunity to represent earth in the race with oxide. So being able to switch characters kinda makes that fall flat since it would be different ppl winning each time(even though the remake did that and it was fine to me personally)

So I think I first played CTR when I was only 3 or 4 and instantly fell in love. I consider myself a pro at this game since I can beat this game in only an hour. The game controls amazingly and I didn’t know how to power slide until I was a teenager. What is strange and kind of cool is they made a dynamic difficulty. Since I beat the game as a kid without power sliding the game was probably set to easy. Now when I power slide I see the AI go faster even though I still end up lapping them.

In case you didn't know about the cheats, you can unlock Penta Penguin that way and play a Spyro Demo. There are also stars to unlock on the Arcade Cups by beating them on Easy/Medium/Hard. For an additional challenge you can use a cheat code for Super Hard mode and then race all the cups:)

Ah yes! One of my all time favorites! Good thing a couple of people are working on making a PC port!
