The driver was the only one in the ambulance who survived this accident :-/

I think people panic, and in doing so, literally can't think their way out of the situation in time.

They could go fast and hit the guard rail than the train hit the van. rail is cheaper to be fixed. but van expensive to be fixed or killed. sighing.

i think nearly nobody knows that this guard rail has in deed a break point or a weakpoint (idk how to call it because i dont know the right word for it since i m German) the worst thing what can happen is a scratch in the paint or a broken windshield. but in general i dont know what they are doing in the first place, i mean they go on a Railroad Crossing and just sit there or try to outmatch the train in the crossing. i dont want anyone to get harmed or die, but in my opinion the most guys of these videos deserved it for their stupidity. And in most cases the Train Operator gets hurt or killed in these Accidents (depends on the Train)

lot of them have bad trucks with low maintenance so a lot of the trucks give up during the wrong times and refuse to move and get into limp mode state

They used to be a lot better. Now they are dangerous. Seems the standards for drivers gets lower every year.

Watched program about it and some say it happened to them so often they just learn how to leave with that though they call that execution to ease the drama.

Unlike you, I don't care when people die, especially people I don't know in real life. If I witnessed someone get hit by a train, I would just keep driving as nothing happened.

When the train is close, there is a huge static electric on those rails, it gets the engine of the vehicle turned off, then the driver tries to start the engine and it wont start. This is the most reason of these accidents, that is also why the driver of ambulance couldnt moved. Probably he was trying to start the engine.

@RED SHARK Pretty sure the engine was running considering he was moving back and forwards, trying to position the ambulance between the tracks and the rails, he should have just blasted through the barrier.

The driver is just stupid. Why didn‘t hey push back or just wait on the other side. Light were surely already on before he entered the railroad.

@@Mgameing123 Even if they're going slow, don't people see how big and heavy they are? It's not like they're designed to stop quickly like a car. It takes a long time for a train to stop, especially a long one. People just think they're too busy and important to wait. And like the guy driving the ambulance, they sometimes pay a very high cost. I know it's heartless but I say "oh well". You were given warning that a train was coming, you chose to ignore that warning and now you're seriously injured or dead. I have very little sympathy for them. I feel a lot of sympathy for the train operator however. Because of the car driver's stupidity, the train operator has to live with what happened for the rest of his/her career and life and it wasn't even remotely they're fault.

They didn't even stop to look if there was enough time and room to go. I work night shift in the city and I will drive through a red light BUT ONLY AFTER I STOP AND MAKE double sure nobody is coming, no pedestrians, no trains, no nothing. Then I go.

What was the driver thinking? Crossing gates get destroyed all the time, why didn’t he just run through the gates? There were probably majorly injured people in that ambulance that died because of his stupid actions

@@MrStark-up6fi there was no patient. A paramedic (or two) and a doctor died. The idiot driver lived. Got 4 years in jail. He supposedly panicked. And "did not know the boom gates are easily breakable". Which is sort of a laughable excuse, as even if they were NOT easily breakable, well... better to hit almost anything than a speeding train...

Udało by mu się, gdyby lepiej opanował manewrowanie lub nie zatrzymał się w ostatnich sekundach gdy pewnie już zauważył pociąg. Kierowca tłumaczył w sądzie, że nie wiedział, że szlabany są łamliwe - jak stwierdził, kierowcy karetek nie przechodzili żadnych specjalnych szkoleń jak się poruszać karetką (co potwierdził rzecznik prasowy Pogotowia Ratunkowego w Poznaniu). Z jednej strony - kierowcy ewidentnie zabrakło rozumu (a przede wszystkim wyobraźni), a z drugiej - zawiódł system (czyli państwo), bo takie szkolenia powinny być i on powinien wiedzieć, że szlabany mają specjalne miejsca osłabione, właśnie po to, żeby je móc łatwo w takich sytuacjach wyłamać.

Looks like everybody except the train crew needed one or an undertaker.

I'm gonna say the undertaker is the correct call on this one, buddy. I wish I were wrong about that, but that was a heck of an impact. I hope it was only the ambulance driver on board, but I think I see someone in the passenger seat too.

The crash in Studénka was in 2008, but it was not with truck. The crash with truck in Studénka was in 2015

We know sadly. Polish truck drivers here at home in Poland, are well known for crashes with trains in Poland, Czechia and Germany. Many more caught on cameras. One idiot wrecked a Czech Pendolino a few years ago.

You do realise that ambulance had at least 1 other person and quite possibly a patient as well on board, right? Who had no influence whatsoever over the driver's action but had to suffer the consequences of those actions? How anyone can call unnecesary loss of life 'delightful' is beyond me.

@@automation7295 There are other ways death can be caused, innocent bystanders, passengers and rail passengers. Wasn't their fault. The ambulance passengers died, for example.

Train driver and his assistent were taken to the hospital, but they feel fine. The numbers of the locomotive are EU44-009 so you can search for images of it (the one with black plastic foil on front windows)

The driver actually lived. The doctor, and paramedic in the back did not. They were heading to the patient, so there was no patient. The driver said later in a trial that he panicked and did not know the boom gates were easily breakable. He got four years in jail. His "panic" cost the lives of two people. From the trial it seems the two were unaware, didn't try to leave the ambulance, didn't brace for impact, so they just thought the ambulance was doing some maneuver, unaware they were on the tracks, probably just assumed they are NEAR, as Polish always blare their horns when approaching crossings, as Poland is sadly legendary for stupid (mostly truck) drivers - the Internet is full of videos of Polish trucks + trains from Poland, Czechia, Germany (some in this compilation) so trains use their horns A LOT. But this also suggested the driver, the only person who could see what was going on never yelled to his coworkers in the back, which is why some thought it was some weird extended suicide at first, though this theory was later debunked. The only silver lining, the patient lived - an alternative ambulance was sent to pick them up and got there on time.

Idk how is it in different countries, but in CZE (I live there, that railway crossing is in CZE) is one simple rule : When light flashes, wait. As you can see light flashes there so driver should stop and they doesn't have to check anything. And drivers can see lights from every direction. Also, this crossing was replaced and there are gates now

Żaden system nie wyeliminuje ludzkiej głupoty. Nawet 20 lat temu na zwykłym szkoleniu na prawo jazdy uczyli co robić, a czego nie na przejazdach kolejowych. Że nie przejeżdża się na pałę, że nie wjeżdża się na przejazd, kiedy nie ma z niego wyjazdu (a takich sytuacji jest na filmie kilka, zaparkowali na przejeździe i czekają), że nie wjeżdża się na pałę na przejazdy bez sygnalizacji, że najpierw trzeba się upewnić czy nic nie ma, że nawet jak jest sygnalizacja i przejazd wolny to i tak żeby się upewnić czy nic nie jedzie itd. Na tym filmie nie ma ani jednej "ofiary systemu", sami debile.
