I spent march in Florida. I took a day trip to Miami and haulover inlet to check out the carnage with my own eyes, and maybe catch a glimpse of wavy boats doing their thing. It had to be the calmest day of the year! There was hardly a ripple on the water and the inlet had little to no traffic, being a weekday. What a bummer! Hopefully next trip I'll get to witness some of the mishaps I see here every week! 🇨🇦

Greetings from Tucson, Arizona.. Seems outboards do have benefits - NO dedicated engine room - NO complicated piping/scrubbing/exhaust systems - NO need to crawl on one's belly doing simple service - EASY engine replacement...

As an educated ship Engine officer it will always be inboard for me. as long as there is reasonable space to do regular Maintenance.

Love these posts. Quick question to you captains out there: How should you approach water like this? Trim angle low and parallel to the water surface? Low power on wave entry, then increase? Would love to learn. I am disabled and will never get to go to boating school but it brings me joy to watch and learn.

Outboard is preferred by myself but it is also all I have experience with. Then again our two tiny boats couldn't handle any of the waves that are shown on your videos, a 13' and 14' fishing boats, a 1953 and 1974 respectively. We are looking for something a lot bigger though

That Bernico is weighed down in the rear by the extra engine. I think you'd be fine with 800hp on that thing.

after watching these vids for a while i still have no idea why anyone would even want to go out in conditions like we see on this channel, even beyond the inlet there were white caps in open water! is it just because they have paid a shit load of money for these boats so they use them every chance they get and most have no idea what the hell they are doing
