I'm a biker and there is no way I would ride without protective gear esp on those roads. Open faced helmets aren't much good either. It amazes me to see so many people ride these roads with little to no riding experience with zero protective gear on, most only wearing shirts and tshirts. You need a full face helmet, an open face one won't protect your face, so if you are OK with taking a chance in your face being disfigured go ahead and wear one. If your rental company doesn't have any buy one, you'll get one for about 80 euro and can sell it when finished. You can also get inexpensive mesh tops with padding built in where needed that will keep you cool. At least wear long pants and gloves are a must. So many young people end up with life changing injuries or worse riding motorbikes or scooters when on holiday, plesee done be one of them. If you are going to rent a bike of any kind look up progressive braking on a motorcycle and practice it, it could save your life from a very common accident new riders have. Also look up counter steering esp if rising windy roads, it makes steering way easier and safer.
Yeah man I understand the concern! This is a pretty reckless way to go about riding I won't lie... I did counter steer on the road I fell, but the problem I think was my counter steer angle was too sharp for the speed I was going, so when I accelerated I just lost traction on the gravel. Lessons learnt...
Cảm ơn lòng nhân ái của bạn, nhưng tốt nhất đừng cho bọn trẻ tiền vì điều đó sẽ Làm cho chúng ỷ lại trông chờ vào sự ban ơn của người khác mà không chịu vươn lên
Give you credit for posting the crash. After many years of racing bikes/motorbikes it doesn't take much to reduce the 'cheese grater' effect the gravel/bitumen has on your body when falling off at any sort of speed. Literally a long shirt and pants (gloves are a no brainer too) to keep your skin on your body. I'm surprised when I watch Vietnam bike vids that most people are in shorts/tees.
Cheers mate! Yeah it was a bbit of a wake up call haha. it's just so hot and humid that throwing on a pair of shorts and a vest doesn't seem like the worst idea... With that said, I bought a sturdy long sleeve shirt the next day haha.
when you asked to take his photo...i had no clue what you were saying until i read the caption xD. Seriously go to a vietnamese that speaks english and say that line again....they'll be looking like the hell did you just say?
Actually for Vietnamese people it’s not a big deal. When I visited my relatives in Vietnam, they were taking pictures (of everything) all the time. So they are kinda used to it. When I would take pictures in Germany (where I live) of random strangers I would get in serious trouble… I think it’s a cultural thing. 🙈
