I went to the Eshop a few hours ago and learnt about the card system, very efficient. Thanks for the pointers.

Thank you- that’s is some good information. After 2 motorcycle trips in VN , I did not know some of these points. I parked the bike along a street in a tourist area. The old security guy gave me a ticket. We went to dinner and drinks. When I came back the bike was not there. I started tripping, not knowing what happened to the bike. The security guy had moved the bike about 100 feet closer to his outpost. Haha- made me very anxious for a minute or two. I do tend to use the steering lock .

Yes these things do happen! But overall the system works

Yep, that has happened to me too. Sometimes there is free parking but I give the security guy a little tip to show my appreciation. Often when I come back he has moved my bike to a better location (like out of the rain) and he will blcok traffic so I can back out onto the street. I love it. A little appreciation goes a long way.

I have rented dozens of motorbikes in Vietnam and have never had a problem. In fact, recently I forgot my phone in my bike's phone stand and left it out overnight near my hotel. Next morning I realized I didn't have my phone and raced down to my motorbike and of course the phone was gone. I walked back to hotel reception and before I could even ask them if anyone had turned in a phone the receptionist had pulled it out and asked me if it was mine. Of course a staff member had saved it for me. After using the facial recognition to confirm it was mine I walked off a happy camper, but cursing my stupidity. I have also done this with the keys a couple of times. F me!!

You mention that its not a good idea to leave bags on the bike because they can be stolen. When doing one of the tours and travelling between point A and B and you want to stop at a tourist attraction like a water fall / Cave etc what do you do with your bag? I would have my day bag and a larger. bag and the larger bag i wouldnt want to carry around with me. So I am curious what the best way to secure the larger bag from being stolen is?

Give your bag to the security guard with a cash tip, they'll watch it for you.

Wonder what part on VN does she live in? Honda are easy to steal - master keys are easy to buy. ME? I use a heavy duty 0.5CM chain with 3 locks. After threading the chain through the wheels and frame, lock the chain around each wheel and the other around the frame.

In Vietnam the police will just put your bike in a truck if it is in the wrong place. You shouldn't need a lock here. Not sure you watched the video :)

@@Tigitmotorbikes You don't need a lock? Friend you have been nowhere. If you want to cross from Da Nang into Laos they require all sorts of proof as to ownership etc. I have chains & locks to secure my bike. You cannot start the engine unless you have the RFID device that enables the engine. Honda master keys are readil available as are RU-vid videos showing how easy it is to steal a Honda.

The last two video, seem to have a theme to them. Trying to educate customers. Between Jet lag, the heat, and just no common sense. Well, Good Luck!

You can also use a bikelock for your helmet and the police. Get a huge thick chained lock. There is not security everywhere! Total bull! Did she just hinted the police steals the most bikes?
@Tigitmotorbikes
@Tigitmotorbikes Год назад
For helmet sure. For police, they just pick up your bike and put it in a truck. No lock is going to stop them. In the end they are doing their job, and they prevent alot of theft. I once asked why they make the retrieval process so difficult from the police station. The answer they gave me was "To make sure you never do it again, we make your life difficult so you don't forget your mistake!"

@@Tigitmotorbikes You need to put the lock around a electricity post. If you are with friends you can lock 3 motorbikes together. I'm from the Netherlands.. I always attach my bike to something. We've got the same problems with bikes. They would need a boltcutter to open it. Don't think they would take the risk of burning down a electric post. It's more of a alternative if there's nothing around. You also need to make it hard for them, so they think twice of doing it. Maybe it's more the Dutch view on doing it.😉 Try to cut bikes all day in hot weather with hauling a heavy boltcutter or pick up three bikes at once flapping all over the place. It's not fun. For cops and thieves. If they can only take a few bikes your bke with the lock will still be there. The bikes without a chain won't. Get two chains locked on both sides and you're gold. "To make sure you never do it again, we make your life difficult so you don't forget your mistake!" Make it difficult for the police! Funny that they make the same point themselves. After a theft a Dutch policeman will say. Get a good chain! The changes of finding the bike is close to zero. In the Netherlands we even lock our bikes in parking garages. Nowhere is safe! I think you guys left this out because people lose keys. It's another key that can be lost. Maybe just to not piss off the police.
