Everybody Should Understand Their playing open Air festival, Crass tones dont come off good in big spaces , sound man is horrible , and plus recorded on Cell Pone, These songs where written way before Digital tones ,
Also from the description of what shows were like in the 80s from friend that were there this is the polar opposite of the nature and extreme anxiety the darkness and chaos of the atmosphere would cause... not to mention the obscurity of the members.
Imagine someone having a random convo with Steve Ignorant on the street without knowing he is the lead singer of this influential punk band and just thinking he some random old bloke lol
@@aaronpaul171 yes should rephrase that then, wrote some of them but I felt it needed to be pointed out that this is not Crass as the title says. For the younger punks and interested party's that may not have been aware. This is pretty tragic, the venue and the band and is not what Crass stood for by no means as I'm sure you already know.
Lol these comments. crust punks idolize bands, rarely create anything worthy of what influenced them and then hate on those bands for making more money them. Dude wrote songs that influenced multiple generations of fans and apparently isn’t allowed to play to those fans more than 100 at a time or else he’s a “sell out”.
This is 1000x removed from the small dark dingey austere halls and squat gigs draped in banners that I saw em in in 80s .I never thought I would ever see such a thing, but hey maybe just maybe a few un awares will leave wanting to find out more and check out lyrics etc.
Can you let me know what the ticket was? Btw fully support what you said thats why we really should keep punk alive and true The video even has ads on it...like wtd really dude
Steve has the right to cash in all the credits that goes elsewhere and someone else otherwise if he did not appear although this is becoming a sell out now. Every items I searched and discovered about the CRASS gave me this impression "ya, this is it"and what consists the meaning of being a punk without being what you defined what a punk must be like. Tracing what CRASS is a pile of confusion.
Crass isn’t the same as it was back then. Steve’s still the same for sure but Crass has became a profit then a organization. At least we still got Conflict, like Crass but still doing what they did in the 80s.
Steve has every right to go on the road with his own songs, purism has always been bullshit. Though he needs to forgive the clash for doing exactly the same thing.
Steve over the years has said The Clash were one of his favorites, he looked up to Joe Strummer. This is from 2011... "I think that the Clash were a great band. I would love to have had a chat with Joe Strummer, but I'm sorry that it didn't happen. We would love to attack why they would say "Stay in London" and then went off to America. They became more of a rock and roll band, and I've found that the song they did with Allen Ginsberg was hard to relate to as an English person. I think that's what we were attacking."
This is sad and pathetic, should've took Penny's advice and left it alone, preserving its integrity. CRASS were special and unique this is far from that. I hate to say this but Steves voice is well shot and now he just sounds like a second rate yobbish Oi singer. BTW the last song is called Tube Disasters by Flux of Pink Indians.
steve I feel needs a better backing band than p v its just not tight and sorry to the p v vocals but well I cant be a twat? but trying too hard and just shouting aint the way yeah suckers give me shit for what ive said??
On 24 and 25 November 2007 he performed Crass's entire The Feeding of the 5000 live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, backed by guest musicians.[10][11] Other members of Crass were not involved in these concerts. "I acknowledge and respect Steve's right to do this", Rimbaud said, "but I do regard it as a betrayal of the Crass ethos".[12] Ignorant had a different view; "I don't have to justify what I do. (...) Plus, most of the lyrics are still relevant today. And remember that three-letter word, 'fun'?"[12] He moved to the Norfolk coast in 2007 where he volunteers as a lifeboatman.[13] In 2010 Ignorant announced plans to do a tour called "The Last Supper", performing Crass songs from the period 1977-1982 with largely the same band that performed with him at Shepherd's Bush, including Gizz Butt, Bob Butler and Spike Smith.[14] In August 2010 Ignorant and Rimbaud took to the stage together to be interviewed by John Robb on the literacy stage at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool where they informed the large crowd that Rimbaud has now given him his blessing to perform Crass material live. In the same year Southern Records published The Rest Is Propaganda, Ignorant's autobiography co-written with Steve Pottinger.[10] On 19 November 2011, Ignorant performed "The Last Supper" at the Shepherd's Bush Empire where he was joined on stage by Rimbaud and Eve Libertine. This was the last time Crass songs were performed live by him until his 2020 tour. In 2019, Ignorant announced plans to tour England in 2020 with a full band performing an all-Crass set.[15]
Steve Cashing in on Crass songs making them into everything they were against & playing a big outdoor Festival & in Las Vegas of all places how none Punk it that ffs Punk Really Is Dead.
Respect to Steve Ignorant and P.A and Deko from Paranoid Visions. Fuck all you naysayers in these comments. Crass were and always will be 100% real and remain one of the most seminal of all Punk bands.
I saw "Steve ignorant presents" back in 09 I think in Pomona csdlifornia...I know it wasn't crass crass but I was legit star struck it's the only show iv been to where the music itself was a movement... it just felt like we were doing something important...I get fucked up but I stay sober for shows cuz I saw tragedy 1 time, but I didn't really see them
kiezer sosay I really miss the crust/punk 2nd street scene and wish I knew what happened to a lot of my friends. It collapsed once Pomona decided to upgrade and simultaneously become a lake bed and even more fucked.
I saw the Stratford Mercenaries in San Diego in 97 at a small venue and they ended the show with 4 crass songs. It was so much better than this and the energy was crazy but with a fraction of the crowd size. I was only a senior in high school. Steve hung out with everyone before his band went out on. Great times.
