Amazoooooon!! It might not be the best, but it can be awfully cheap! The Junkviews, where we pinch the pennies as hard as we dare!
This is the Junkview of some shocks from Sharegoo (why?) that are reasonable approximations of Traxxas GTS-- from far enough away, if it's dark enough. To pair with them, Injora's 20-pack (yes, TWENTY) of springs.
How do we do?

I've got to say in my opinion you should have far more subscribers! All the information given out, not to mention the builds that are pieces of art. then the amazing canyon itself I just feel people are really missing out!

The process to work around the fact that the join button does not appear in the app is annoying enough that I just don't want to bother people with it. The real question is, why isn't there a join button in the app?
@jasonbickford4283

Under the video if you tap on the little round icon the one with the truck it takes you to a page and on that page it says subscribe and next to it says join. I'm using the cell phone app. I am putting my 3yr old to bed and just found it to my surprise. Hopefully this will get out there!

maybe try the 2 spring setup with short springs (the good ones like losi mini t or element etc) on these - just to try - that can be interesting to see if it works

I put these on our Gmade Buffalo (kit) and they actually do the job surprisingly well. I put a Hobbywing Axe in it so logically I had to cheap out on the shocks.

Most Amazon shocks are hopeless, these at least work. I don't think they'll live forever, and they're certainly not the best shocks I've ever seen, but they manage to hold on to (most) of the oil.
@FeralRC
@FeralRC Год назад
@@CrawlerCanyon they've already lasted much longer than the factory shocks included in the Gmade kit. I reckon that doesn't surprise you if you've ever seen those. Definitely the Achilles heel of the Buffalo.

Hey I had these on my scx10 type chassis until I got tired of those orings squeezing out when I put the cap on. Pretty decent shocks they work well, and rc4wd rrd springs fit that shock. The brass thing in the cap kept falling out too.

Man, it hurts to see things are available to my country are always garbage, at least you explain why they suck so, i can try to avoid the same mistakes. I have more than half of those junk review parts fitted on my SCX10 and they are not cheap here. :( Pain.

Honestly I feel like you should team up with a company to consult on the design of some of these parts. Or better yet, a “Canyon Tuned” version of an existing truck. Basically a crawler equivalent of the TLR tuned Typhon.

Stacking two 3.4lb/in springs results in a 1.7lb/in total spring rate due to twice as many active coils.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Год назад
That is indeed what the math says for springs in series. But does nothing to explain why I can change out a pair of 3.4lb springs in series with a single 2.4lb spring and it acts softer. Stacked springs have never worked IMO, and continue to not work now. Ignoring the math, I have never in my life seen an instance where springs in series are compressed and both springs collapse at the same rate. Not once. Because the top spring doesn't see the same force as the bottom spring-- it sees that force after it passes through the lower spring. So the halving of the rate for the doubling of the coils seems to me to be something that only occurs if both ends of the spring are experiencing an equal force simultaneously. But we will likely never (or close to never) see the same load at both ends of the spring. As I've said-- I'm not a mathematician, but I have seen what does and doesn't work.
@frankiemabry1726
@frankiemabry1726 Год назад
what are you going to do with the stiffer springs bc i have a trx4 2021 bronco that weights in at about 12lb an i have the stock shocks with traxes stiffest spring they make for it an i could use alittle bit stiffer.

i could use the other springs on one of my other builds its going to be a off road wrecker and a haul truck for a big gooseneck trailer.

I'm currently waiting on delivery of a set of 100mm kyx dravtech copies, arriving in the next few days. I'll let you know what they are like. £16/pair on aliexpress (roughly $19 i think). Somehow I doubt they will remain stock for long before i start fettling and tuning them!

I for one do not mind 3.5mm shafts, i have broken too many 3 mm shafts to count over the years. But, that is the cost of RC rock bouncing i guess.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Год назад
I think we can agree that on a rock crawler, we'd all trade skinnier shafts for bigger seals, because not leaking straight-out-of-the-package is a pretty nice feature.

First I absolutely hate the ball retention the rod ends use. I have flashbacks and nightmares from the brass retainer rattling loose and making the thing useless. Second if these didn't have the crappy rod ends and the small piston, would it be worth it to replace the piston with a better fitting one
@CrawlerCanyon

Better pistons might make them functional. No getting around those dumb 3.5mm shafts, though.
