The TRX4 sport RTR is the truck that comes with glued S1 canyon trails. You can find the info on the trucks display page at the bottom in the features list. The High trail is the same way but with 2.2s.

Yep, Sports have S1 whether they're kits or RTRs. The 2.2 only comes in S1 so they're all S1

I think you need to start a "versus" series, where S1 cut Canyon Trails take on the best (Tusks, Ruptures, etc).

RTR cut/sipe, wash thoroughly zero residue of anything on the tire, heat gun only the tread, you will see the rubber turn color/tint after a good while (too hot to touch and dont worry if corner edges deform a little), let cool down, then renue tread if needed, as many coats as you feel is needed. Sidewall renue only if stiff, they dont look overly stiff, i probably would not worry about heating sidewalls directly they will get some residual heat from tread. Inside carcass never felt there was any gains honestly, but the heat does penetrate pretty well. spinning tire to heat works well, maybe plastic wheel tire only slipped on with cruise control, or slow slow slow in drill/lathe mockup.

I believe the TRX4 1979 Blazer comes with the S1 Compound Canyon Trails. That may be the only model that has them out of the box. Great comparison. i really enjoyed watching it.

79 Bronco as well. The Sundowner edition I bought definitely has the S1 and it says right on the box.

Very nice comparison surprised by how good the uncut s1 was speaks to how compound plays as much of a role as lug pattern/size/insert does. learn something new every time I watch and as always thanks.

I really enjoyed the video, I was surprised how well the stock tyres performed, they are pretty good. I see a lot of TRX4's with the CT's still fitted and I did wonder why, and your video has answered that question. A trx4 is out of my price range so owning one may be a future thing but I've been tempted to get a set of Canyon Trails for ages, I love the tread pattern, they are quite wide and look agressive on the trucks which is a look I love but sadly theyre not cheap here in the UK. The best price I can find them from a model shop over here (unmounted) is a whopping £24 a pair so £4 per set. Even second hand some people want £20 -£30 so until now they have evaded me. When I can get unmounted deepwoods at £36 for a set of 4, or the Fastrax versions at £29 for a complete set theres no incentive to buy CT's. I will keep looking though as I do love the look of them, maybe someone will have some they dont want.

The price of pretty much anything Traxxas outside the US is nuts.

They're the underdog of tire choices. I only have one set of RTRs that came on a roller bought a while ago and I wasn't giving these too much attention. After cutting and starting to use them, I was surprised that with time, they were performing better and better. Such a good tire for all-round purpose that most people are getting rid of right off the bat. The only combo I have that outperforms them are Landmines with A.L.T. foams...but if we compare the costs of the two...

I just snipped a new set of S1 Canyon Trails today. First timer here. Was kinda nervous. Completely off your recommendation. Put 3D printed inserts in them. Testing soon to come. Also found that Canyon Trail foams are awesome in Proline tires, at least in my applications I have them mounted to. They definitely fill them out better and greatly reduce side hill roll.

For stock tires, I thought the Associated General's were the ones to beat. I bought a set of the S1's a couple of weeks ago and boy, was I wrong. I'm not a Traxxas fan, but I guess I can live with their tires. lol

Have you ever tested the "Canyon RT", the low-profile 2.2 tire that comes on the Mercedes 6x6 and G500? I've heard they're really good but I don't have any 2.2 wheels to mount them on.

It is one of the Canyon Trail flavors that has of yet eluded me. Jenny’s never has em.

I went to the Traxxas website and looked at the features list for every TRX4 model. Apparently every TRX4 comes with trail tuned S1 compound... that goes for High Trials 2.2s as well as the TRX6. All of them say that they come with Trail Tuned S1 compound. The only one that didn't have any information on the tires was the TRX4 Sport TRAXX edition that comes with a set of mounted glued canyon trails. Maybe they did away with their old compound?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Год назад
If so, it's a holiday for some of us. I guarantee that the Defenders come with S1, and I have at least 4 sets from Defenders. Another one of those "silent changes."
@HobbyGrade
@HobbyGrade Год назад
@@CrawlerCanyon Absolutely. I bought the defender when it first came out and also the 79 bronco when it released and when I got the sport kit two years back there was undeniably a difference in compound.
@blastarrow5938
@blastarrow5938 Год назад
Yeah, even the Defender says it has S1 compound on the box now and it was the original TRX-4 model. I know the 21 Bronco did from the start because the product announcement flyer I have lists S1 tires as a selling point. 2.2's have only ever come in S1 so all the High Trails are S1. Early build 79 Broncos and Blazers might have had the old RTR compound. Pretty sure the Sport has always had S1 whether RTR or kit.

I haven't ordered a pack yet to sample, but these look REAL close to what I use, and the stuff I use is for the same application, just mailed to me halfway around the globe from Israel. amzn.to/3Qt8pwG. I'm ordering some right now. Easily worth the 14 bucks to find out. The stuff sold as "Dualplex" looks a bit different.
