It does indeed turn into a glazed donut lol. I love the tires on clean rock but completely unusable when you get them in mud. Wish I could add a photo to the comments because I would show you.

I’ve had to drill out a couple of rings and I have found the best way is go down to hobo freight and get some left handed drill bits works really good.

65F is roughly 18C, yes? Sweden got to a scorching 30C this summer, or 86 degrees in that other measurement. Not southern California temps, I know, but not cold either. ;) This month we're going to see anywhere from (I'm guesstimating here) 9C (48.2F) at the most to probably as low -6C (21.2F) here in Norway (and Sweden). We have had some snow already, but luckily it has mostly melted away already, and Sweden is about the same as Norway, so yeah those tires should be good in the colder months. If they're from/for who I think they are, he has some of my inserts he can stick in those tires. :D

26:04 I'm going to make 3D inserts for these and makem work on the side hill. When they do, I'll send you a vid about it. As you mentioned, these beg for a 3D printed!

I just got some Injora 1.9 pins yesterday. Did up the Canyon Inserts in them last night. Hope to get some quality testing on them tonight. They feel sticky. I hope they dont suck lol.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 9 месяцев назад
Injora says they're S4, which is their second softest compound. I'll probably have a set of the new Injora pins in my hands long before Megalithics come back in stock.

One thing I have learned from you is that you don't want all squish but if it's all squishy soon as you hit any type of turn going downhill any type even a straight up and down shot it's going to hurt you I believe has the right idea of a tire is Jay Concepts but listen to me now I don't run 110 I run mainly 18 and 24 there are several amazing tires that will give them a run for their money when I say that I'm talking about Jay concept Power Hobby is got some great tires in Jura has some great tires

You should consider reviewing the injora 1.9 comp pin... Thanks in advance!
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 9 месяцев назад
You are correct, I do need to test these. The set I have now are the older Injora/Austar Bully Comps, and the compound just wasn't there. They say that the new ones are S4, which should be good, but they're also 120x35 which is... bizarre. The old ones were sporty-sized, skinny and 150mm tall. I don't know who the new one is for, really.

While you have the cold conditions with you, it would be interesting to see how some of the softer compounds perform, can the x2s3 redeem itself? Is there any hope for the hustlers? Just how good can predators be? Got to say, in our cold, wet and muddy climate of the UK, i still havn't had an issue with the 2.2 baja pro x's over here.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 9 месяцев назад
It's a tough call with X2S3-- I've tested it in a number of different treads, in cold weather and hot, and it has consistently been one of the least impressive. X2SS is just better at everything. Beyond that, ultra-soft compounds can get worse in heat, but I don't think any compound gets markedly better when cold. Everything suffers in the cold. The RC4WD Baja Pro X still stands out to me as one of the most disappointing tires I've tested. The ProLine version (in G8) is so much better they're not really comparable.
@EddieDesigned
@EddieDesigned 9 месяцев назад
@@CrawlerCanyon isn't that the point? Rubber becomes softer at higher temps and stiffer at colder temps. Super soft tyres that don't work well at higher temps stiffen up and work better at lower temps. Which is why predators became slippery and lost traction in the higher heats and g8 performed better. Soft compounds should come into their own when its getting closer to freezing (32 Fahrenheit) For perspective, a really hot day over here is 25°c (77°f) an average day could be 57f
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 9 месяцев назад
@@EddieDesigned not discounting it out of hand, but I don't think that's true. Every tire is going to have a "sweet spot" and I think across the board that number is going to be above 40ºF. The performance is going to look like a nice bell curve, and fall off on both sides of "here's where I do best." This is also SoCal-- so experiencing sub-40ºF during the day is almost not a thing. We might get... 2 or 3 days below 40? Seeing 70ºF on Christmas isn't uncommon.
@EddieDesigned
@EddieDesigned 9 месяцев назад
@@CrawlerCanyon don't get me wrong, I understand all of that and I understand that socal doesn't really experience any cold, what i am saying is that when it does get cold, do a tyre test and give the poor showings a 2nd chance to redeem themselves in conditions you don't normally experience. Give the outstanding performers a test too, see how they fare, you've found the upper ends of the bell curve, where does the bottom fall off? For you it's a once a year opportunity, for us it's a daily occurrence!

How would these compare to the fake ruptures? In your review of the GoolRC Rupture Knock-offs, you regarded themas the best performing junk view tire. Last time I checked, the fake ruptures were $23 for 4 on amazon.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 9 месяцев назад
They were the bast at the time, but long since outclassed by the Mix Racing fake Tusks. The Grabbers are more capable than fake Rupures, and are a normal size so they'll fit under fenders.

How about we compare vented and non-vented tires? I have a friend who comps on non-vented tires. He doesn't believe it matters. How about a comparo with some buggy tires that you have?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 9 месяцев назад
It's not even that tires should be vented, they NEED to be vented. A tire fitted with an insert is semi-pneumatic, and needs to let air both in and out. Whether the vent is in the rim, the sidewall, or the tread doesn't really matter. Just as long as there are vents. It just doesn't make any sense not to vent them.
@nicholasstephey8475
@nicholasstephey8475 9 месяцев назад
Plus. On vented the bump will turn into donkey kicks
@AnyAssumptionBanter
@AnyAssumptionBanter 9 месяцев назад
I think its a conspiracy that tires are built with poor sidewall support to get us to buy inserts. Lower profile still allows for conformaty... Kinda like the tires you tested from other type of non crawler rigs.
