Went to Kaikora on our NZ trip a few years ago and they'd parked shipping containers at the bottom of hillsides to stop any rock falls after the earthquake as it was still unstable. Good to see the road finished. To say the crayfish was a bit expensive is an understatement.
Thank you for showcasing my 2nd home soooo well! We own the original homestead in Goose Bay which is 10 minutes south of kaikōura township. Looks like you had amazing weather! The waterfall where the seal pups used to hang out was a very sad loss.. It was so cool to watch them play under the waterfall and so beautiful. The earthquake was a challenging time for us and were heartbroken with the devastation that it caused. Thankfully kaikōura is now coming back to life! The Pier Hotel is such a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the view. The coastal road of kaikōura is so unique and beautiful. Glad you enjoyed your stay 😊
Nin’s Bin was the reason I wanted to go to Kaikoura. I’d seen a story on a travel show when planning our holiday and couldn’t wait to go there. I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The crabs are so fresh and tasty. We discovered Kaikoura is such a beautiful little town too.
At 10.21 you can see behind you the tunnels that allow the seals to still go upto the waterfall. It is all sealed off (haha) to the public, but back in the day when humans were allowed up there it was truly an amazing site. The Waterfall pond was absolutely full of baby seals everywhere. So when you were saying "I don't know where the waterfall is", it was right behind you as you said that! haha
Often times I watch your vlogs during a break from work, because my work day is often stressful and your vlogs always calm me down and make me happy. 🌄 This is the type of day I daydream about while working.
I have to say, that I am enjoying these New Zealand videos so much, and also that the two of you, travelling within your own home country, have become so relaxed and I think we are getting to see more of the 'real you'! Fantastic!
I haven't been to Kaikoura since 2014, it's amazing to see all the rocks uplifted. I've been up to the pool at Ohau Point and seen all the baby seals playing together. It was an awesome sight.
You two need an award for "Most Enjoyable Watch!" Apart from being truly amazing guides for us, your camera and editing skills are top notch! Keep it up!👍🏻💕
Awww stacey your excitement seeing the seals ( brought a tear to my eye ). Yes i love animals too What a lovley town how they re- built since the Earthquake .
I am in San Francisco this weekend but found time to catch another exciting episode of your fantastic tour of the South Island with Crayfish and Guinness! I have studied the migration of the elephant seals extensively and I too find the ocean experience exciting!
Just what I needed. Always watch you 2 when Im down or not feeling well as your energy is so uplifting. When Im real down I watch your engagement video, always sure to cheer me up. (Im ok just got my second vaccine yesterday and feel like I was hit by a small truck,)
I’m exactly the same Stacey! HONESTLY LOVE WILDLIFE! I was at a cafe outdoors the other day, and this little bird flew into the courtyard and started eating the crumbs people had left behind, and I was just over the moon. He was adorable 😍 also this little place feels like a hidden gem! It’s glorious!
Sorry I'm late to the video, just wanna say I love the content! I'm from Singapore and New Zealand is absolutely my favourite place to visit. Y'all are just too nice! And it's a beautiful country too.
I went whale watching in Kaikoura in 2016 (thankfully, before the earthquake). Loved everything about the town, one of my favorite places in New Zealand.
Exquisite content created by you two at its absolute realest. Daneger, manhandling of the crayfish and seeing an epic moment of Stacey exuding pure joy seeing those baby 🦭 It’s truly fantastic getting this virtual experience of your country.
Being a one eyed South Islander, I thoroughly enjoyed your video.. I heard that the "waterfall baby seal nursery" you referred to was, I believe, totally destroyed by the earthquake...and unfortunately, there were some losses.... (Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, maybe a local can confirm..?) My English born late wife loved Kaikoura as much as me...so pleased she was able to experience the uniqueness of this area.. Love the Kaikoura Coast..!!
Such a shame about the waterfall, we would've loved to experience what it was like pre-quake. At least the town is in full recovery mode now! It's such a cool place, we loved it.
Between you guys and Kara and Nate, it's been a very crayfish/crawfish kinda week! I loved the seals footage. I was in Norfolk earlier this month and went on a hike similar to Kaikoura where it's almost guaranteed that you get to see them. The little fellas were a lot more active though for you. Spotting wildlife is just the best!! Excited for the whale watching episode next! 🐋
I knew that kray wasn't going to be cheap by a long stretch but no doubt an amazing culinary experience. The seal pups are awesome. There's a crew in namibia that do awesome work helping them out saving them from sea trash.
Awww you found Dora the camper van's twin! Love your work and your storytelling ❤️. Really hoping to be in NZ in 2022 and hopefully seeing NZ through my eyes after you've seen it the way you've! Can't wait. Lotsa love all the way from 🇲🇻
Always look forward to these videos because they are interesting and fun to watch. The sealpups really show her excitement to them, sort of like a kid at Christmas. I woulda liked some crayfish cuz they look really good. Very enjoyable video though so thanks for the content
I love to see how happy Stacy to see the wild life. She is such a sweet heart ❤️❤️❤️ Was it a coincidence Kara & Nate and you guys also posted a Crayfish video on the same week? 😍
Hi guys stumbled across your videos during lockdown and just want to say they're awesome. Really enjoyed your croatian series :D think you guys would really enjoy doing the welsh coastal path when things are back to normal !
Love your videos so much. Love too travel and see the world too. But in this times your videos are vacation for me. Thanks too your both. I wish you all the best and are exited too see a lot of more vlogs. Warm regards from Germany
Great that crayfish looked so fresh and delicious. Great vlog btw :D When you finally get back to the uk you need to stop off at Donna Nook in Lincolnshire in November. The seal colony there has the pretty white pups then and is so out of the way only the locals know about it. They are only ashore for about 12 weeks. More than a thousand of them! Then head up to Lindisfarne (check the tide times!!!!!!!!!) One of the most magical places we have and then Northumbria or even Edinburgh. Ssh you heard it here first!
Legitimately the best Guinness we’ve had outside Dublin and I don’t know why! Went back the following day to test I wasn’t going crazy and it was just as good. Normally it’s pretty bad in NZ sadly.
Enjoyed your Kaikoura experience the same way I did your Catlins drive. Love the storytelling. You bring out the best NZ has to offer! We had very good luck with the seals at Ohau but not with the whales. Nin's Bin was closed as well. Coming back again later this month for another try at whale watching.
I love the sea! And those looked like lobster tails, they where huge! Such nice scenery too, I love small coastal towns always so charming! Dane is 100% right Guinness is mother's milk! They just came out with a coffee Guinness don't know if there available in NZ. But it's totally worth a go! Great video as always, safe travels cheers!
Looks like so much fun!! I loved seeing the seals and had a similar reaction to Stacey! Haha. Question though - are the conversion prices right for the Nins bin? Or is it a per person price if there's 2 people for that tail? Been watching all your videos (seriously awesome and both my partner and I have gone to a few places on our road trip cos we saw it on your videos) and every other one seems to be a per item price.
we need a primer on crayfish vs. crawfish vs. lobster? cuz we were thinking crawfish-type things and what you had was the size of lobster! super curious how it’s similar/different.
Well, if that don't make you wanna go road trippin', nothing will (gold standard weather and all!) That waterfall (which acted as a seal nursery) was about 400m up 'Ohau Stream', over your right shoulder in the background. I've been there pre-earthquake watching them play, about 20 of them leaping and jumping, it's quite the sight. Google Ohau stream seals.
Years ago brought a crayfish same place drove one hour. 9 o’clock at night got home. The crayfish was rotten never for 😮gave them Just worked it out. It was 52 years ago.
Use your hand ✋ instead of knife and fork. That's pretty much how a typical *Indian* would have a meal. The food and waves 🌊 look amazing ❤️Sending you all *positive vibes* from an *Indian Travel Vlogger*.
No knife and fork, that is the way to go. Meanwhile, your crayfish are huge! Almost like little lobsters. I think they are called rock lobsters here in the U.S. Our crayfish are teeny tiny...and from freshwater.
Hey guys! Please help! I’ve previously bought your book but I got a new phone recently and for the life of me I can not remember the name of the app used to read it!??? Please help! I’m going crazy!!!
I do enjoy crayfish, and eating it a few meters from where it is caught, with the smell of the ocean in the air, all adds to the experience. But it is possibly the most overrated food in the world for the price! In saying that, you can’t not have crayfish in Kaikōura!
What a robbery, complete rip off. Boring and plain. I paid $70 for a stringy not properly cooked tail and didn't even include sides. I also had to pay extra for the garlic butter and lemon. This should be boycotted.
