Shinedown is one of my most favorite bands, and this is one of my most favorite covers! Brent’s voice sounds so good in this song, and it just is amazing overall. It’s one of the few songs I can listen to over and over again and not get tired of! ❤️

So cool you stopped and did this video with your mom, my mom's favorite band was Shinedown and this was her favorite version of the song. This was her song to me it always made he tear up, every time I hear it I think of her and now that she has passed away I tear up every time, cancer took her at age 58 a year ago. The first time I heard this cover, I had to pull over on the side of the road because I was bawling so hard I couldn't drive. Brent Smith has a way with his voice that invokes such strong emotions. Acoustic Shinedown is a treasure.

I just want to recognize how awesome it is that Alex's Mom knew the band .... just fantastic how music bridges the generations.

I love that you did this song and version. Their “rock version” is also really great. The Lynard Skynard original was what my mom and I danced to at my wedding. She would always point out that those where the words for me from her when ever the song came on the radio.

Something just awesome watching a mom and her son listen to this in the moment together. Straight up wholesome. This version is actually what my mom and I danced to at my wedding.

This song still cuts straight through my heart. It came out right when my dad was killed. I was still in the military so I had to fly home for the funeral. When I got to my grandmother's house all my boys in the family were waiting for me. They pulled me aside, handed me a cold beer and played this song as loud as it would go all night.

Glad you listened to the recorded version first (Live is still amazing), but his voice shines so much better. Absolutely stunning vocals, what a talent! I saw them open for Nickleback with Breaking Benjamin about 10-12 years ago (I was working security). Great live band, and fantastic concert too!

Brent Smith has an amazing voice! I’ve seen shinedown 3 times and they always play this song and even 15+ years after they recorded it he still sounds great. Burning bright, 45, how did you love, shed some light, I dare you and Brent Smith also does a song with apocalyptica called not sting enough that is awesome! The whole band Lynyrd Skynyrd wasn’t killed in a plane crash, two main members, including he lead singer and a back up song singer were killed. The lead guitarist of shinedown at the time this cover was recorded was involved with the lead guitarist of Skynyrd’s bands daughter. ( the lead guitarist of Skynyrd was also the lead singer of Skynyrds brother)
