@ED-209UHD I live abroad now. I was shocked at how expensive the chippy has become during a recent trip to the UK. Another thing taken away from the working class.
The hash brown adds nothing to that burger. The whole point of a hash brown is that it's nice and crispy on the outside, cover it in sauce and it just becomes mushy. I think they just used it as a cheap bulking agent. Burger itself is way too expensive at £6.49.
Not a fan of soggy hash browns either but people must love it cause they keep adding them in stuff. We don't have this sandwich but a combo with a single patty sandwich is about this price. The sandwich ,much smaller, is about 4 pounds in British money
When it's lathered in sauce yes. Is it better with than without? Yes or it'll just be a standard burger like the still have on the menu that anyone can still order.
Back here in N.Ireland, my other half and I got a KFC for the first time in a while. We both got the Wicked Zinger Tower meal (Small burger, fries, gravy, 2 hot wings, and a drink), and we added 4 extra hot wings. I near choked when he asked me for £24.98!! Each meal was £10.49, something which used to be about £7 about a year or so ago! I swear the hot wings have shrunk in size also, along with the tower burger. We did enjoy the meal, but not worth the price anymore, we were hungry again about 2 hours later. won't be back for a while again!
It’s not been called the wicked zinger burger for years, they also changed the recipe to this awful supercharger sauce. Wicked Zinger Tower - long gone but not forgotten 😂
I don't mind ANYONE making a profit, it shouldn't be a dirty word, but I draw the line when I start to feel someone is taking the PI$$. McD's and just about all take-aways passed that threshold many moons ago.
This! Yes, profits are good but I've not been for a couple of years now at those prices. Go to the supermarket and you can buy quality ingredients for those prices!
The point is this . If the price is too high , dont buy it . Its no good complaining about the price but still buy it .There nis no incentive for the price to come down , so it stays at the higher price .
Yep, they are making higher profits by raising prices, selling less units and employing less staff. The numbers add up, lower overheads and increase margins.
Exactly this - apply market forces. However, prices will be dictated by the consumer and therefore it's the consumer's fault. Simple economics. If only the general populace knew how powerful their buying power was, then things would be very different.
Subway is the place to go if you want to get ripped off - some footlong subs go for around £9.00 these days. When a baguette with some ham in it would normally suffice anyway
I used to go to Subway when I was a student around 2002....in my mind a foot long sub with a drink and crisps is about £4.50!! I wouldn't pay £9 for it!!
I used to enjoy Subway - I had no idea that the prices were, now, so outrageous. The one we went to closed down? What a pity about their prices now- it was a "reasonably" healthy alternative to other fast food.
They can't rip you off if you don't buy it ,personally I don't eat processed food or crap that's cooked in seed oils ,I can get a rib eye steak for 5 quid and cook it in butter make some chips and cook them in beef dripping, real food
Great to see you back in the car doing the reviews, always enjoy them. No matter how much they try to make things different it’s the same old stuff at twice the price. Maccys know prices have gone up but sales have dropped massively, what happened to stack it high and sell it cheap
You can or for even cheaper but that's not a like for like comparison... Cooking at home and washing up is a chore for some people so they like a treat now and then... I eat out at pubs and restaurants about 3 or 4 times a week because my time is too valuable to be in a kitchen for a few hours cooking and cleaning so it's also down to your own personal circumstances as well... So I'll either eat out or I'll wait until my wife or daughter are cooking and eat at home then lol.
@@davidholgate123 in theory you are correct but a lot of people don't have that luxury i know because i have done it and £6.50 to some isn't much at all and to some it is a lot!! the point is i hope these suffer for profiteering also the rubbish your getting from these places isnt anywhere near the same quality from a butcher etc cooking it your self for less
Haven't had fast food in a long time or been in a restaurant in decades, simply cannot afford such extravagance. £6.50 is like a third of my fortnightly food spend. Times are bad and keep getting worse.
I get from the butty van that comes to work in the morning a spicy chicken hash brown and slice of cheese burger with mayo, comes to £3.45 . It's nearly half price of that !🧐 wowzers ! Glad you enjoyed your trip to France ✌🏽
It’s great that you bring the prices to our attention, that’s fifty percent of the whole idea of your great videos. That helps us avoid high prices. Great video as always.
I found the cafe in my local hospital to offer pretty good value. I got a brie & bacon salad sandwich, plus a normal sized latte in a paper cup, for £3.45..... All fairly tasty too..... No pass etc required. You just walk in, get what you want, pay and leave.
Twelve piece bucket with 4 fries and a free launch vienetta (we'd not heard of it & thought it was rather sophisticated!) was around a fiver three decades back. I fondly recall two of us ripped through it in Leicester sq many moons ago!
I had a chicken fillet burger today from KFC for the first time in about 2 years. It was very thin and cost £5.99 no chips or drink. Won't be going back in a hurry.
I think there is some reasons apart from the cost of living going up but alot of the takeaway places now have there apps and you get deals and free items so they put them prices up on the items.
AVE been following you for a while, your reviews are top class, and really well appreciated, the thing that really, well had the upmost respect and admiration,is your honesty, and in the most difficult times, for u and your family, anyways, brilliant 😊
Oh well, that was an expensive burger Gareth. I've not had a mcd or kfc in years. I just can't afford these fast food prices. You're dead right, £ makes the world go round & our budgets are so tight. Everything is so expensive. It's good to see you smiling, the holiday has done you good 👍 😊
Good to see you're on more "solid" food :) Fast food used to be cheap but that's no longer true. All major companies have been ripping us off for ages and at the moment are using the excuse of the cost of living crisis.... Only supermarket i have seen prices coming down is at Aldi...
Awesome review of the new KFC burger tower ‼️💯🙌👌😋 Looked substantial. The price was substantial too, grateful to see and hear all about it. It’s way too warm for me but what can we do but bear it lol
You have to be savvy and use apps, deals, vouchers or even fill out quick surveys to get those prices down on fast food. Right now, KFC is actually the most expensive out of McDonalds or Burger King because of the apps. McDonalds i can eat cheaply. For example, i can get the wrap of the day for £1.99, the 3 for £3 deal or just use my email survey voucher from the receipt to get good value. For £6.50, i can get a wrap, 8 nuggets, fries and a drink.
You shouldn't have to go through all that rigmarole for something that was designed to be cheap and convenient. If I really want a burger I'll buy a rustlers as a treat.
I would definitely have put a bib on ,back in the old days if me and my brother were ready to hit the town and Mum made us beans on toast beforehand we would use a tea towel
The Mrs bought a fresh chicken for Sunday lunch today out of our local butchers £6 and it would be dearer than a supermarket but support local so KFC looks expensive.
You are like my brother......tend to STUFF to much in 1 mouthful (he would get 2 sometimes 3 mouthfuls then it was gone from MACD,S burger).......take the time to enjoy your food.......good to see you back hope you enjoyed hols.....
Hi Gareth, Glad you all enjoyed your holiday & you done 110% great with no drinking 👍 good on you if the 4 of you had one each £26 to me just not worth it & with no chips & no drink not very appetising all the best mate keep up the good work 👍🙂
Glad to see jaw in full working order. I know KFC are expensive but their chickens are addictive so just have as an extra treat. You look really well holiday has done the trick.
Large food corporations getting richer. If the CEO thinks it it too dear himself then get the prices down. Glad you are all home safe bud. All the best.
We fancied a KFC recently. We put together an order for two people which came to £23 delivered! I nearly fell over! We then realised it made more sense to order a curry from our local curry house. We ordered enough food to sink a battleship and the curry cost £8.00 more and did us both two meals. The quality difference between the two is night and day, so is value for money. Its the same with McDonald's. When it was cheap and filled a hole we used to get it fairly often. Now it's got so expensive we just don't go there, it's become really poor value for money. Would rather pay a little more and go to five guys or honest burger, even if I'd have to go less often.
Welcome back Gaz..hope you had a great holiday :) Hardly eat at KFC these days but recent inventions aways seem like a rip off. Prefer a three piece meal and gravy if I must.
So once a week, my workplace allows me £15 to expense on a meal. I was busy to decided to order a takeaway from KFC via Uber Eats. Buffalo Tpwer Burger Box Meal with 1pc Chicken, and 1 box of Buffalo Dipped Bites. Total came to £17.66 😮 Glad I could expense majority of it on work, so only paid £2.66. It was nice though and I made lunch and dinner out of it, so under £9 per meal, even with Uber Eats prices isn't too bad.
Welcome home glad yous had a good holiday.. The price of things is ridiculous these days, not even a drink with it.. no wonder my local KFC closed down how are families going to afford that 🤷♀️ Thanks Gaz 👍
Ooh it looks like the Heatwave Burger that Wetherspoons serve (that has a spicy wing on top too but accompany this with 2 hot wings and you're there) :-)
Glad to see your recovering and relaxed from your holiday. I should point out I was confused by your reference to hot when discussing spice level, the burger is hot, just cooked. But using the same word for spice heat is confusing for sure! Can’t you just say spicy or chilli hot. Anyway I agree the McDonalds is getting beyond the pocket of many now, just becoming a luxury like fish and chips
Another great video. I have a KFC thats local to me and I've never been to try it. That New Burger is calling my name..... Looking good after your holiday. Nice to see you back in blighty. Reguards to you and your family.
I have not had a KFC for years but the look on your face was saying “I am enjoying this now I can chew properly” I still will not have one, but good review.
Welcome back rest to see you back doing the rounds. I would never pay that for a burger in KFC. As a matter of fact I’ve stopped using KFC Prices are brutal. Thanks for the review and the autopsy you done on the burger❤
Nothing is cheap at the moment. My rent went up by £150 a month to £750. On a basic pension that is not doable. So I won't be going to KFC for a long while. Keep up the good work mate.
The poor got no sort of life.ok if you have a private pension of 20000 odd grsnd a year and above.Big divisions in societt.some folks worked all thete livess for minimum wage snd lucknto ger an extra 100 quid a month on the state pension
Good video Gaz mate 😅that reminds me a few years ago some KFC's had to shut up temporarily due to a shortage of chicken 🐔 of all things ha ha 😂 and there was a advert campaign in some newspapers apparently from KFC apologising for the stores shutting down temporarily and the shortage of chicken 🐔 lol and the KFC logo was temporarily reworded FCK on its chicken buckets in the newspaper ad campaign lol 😆😆😆😂🤣
It was caused by them moving their logistics from Bestfood to DHL. DHL didn’t have a clue how to manage fresh/frozen food despite winning the tender and clucked up KFC deliveries. KFC subsequently dropped DHL unsurprisingly
Keep your eyes on the road . Coming to an ultimatum my self . Watching your pure honesty really wants my self to give up drink . I know your an ordinary bloke but your part of us the people x
Yeah prices have gone mad! But we cant get away from it now, every pub and eating place and takeaway is bad,one of my local chinese has put the price of 6 spare ribs up to 9 pounds now
You always manage to reinvent yourself, first the homemade cravat, and now the mastermind look with the glasses!!! Keep the videos coming and stay of the beer..
Totally agree with the prices Gareth joke as you said wages we earn even with ploughing the overtime in dont mactch the growing prices for anything more
Great to see you able to chew again. I agree fast food prices are getting silly. I reckon the first chain to offer a consistent discount will sweep up a lot of customers and get a chunk of the profits.
Welcome home Gareth and please don't stop doing the videos. They help a lot of us keep in touch with food choices. Anyway I at least would miss your lovely smile and your cheeky comments. All the best 😍
Please don’t stop your videos. You’re a down to earth guy who tells it as it is. I have to tell you though the last time I got a KFC the only thing worth eating was the corn cobs! No, not joking. Oh, and stop apologising, what have you got to apologise for? You’re doing us a favour doing your reviews, giving us a bit of a laugh as well sometimes! 😊
So nice to see you back! I could eat that! Love a bit of spice…although I’ve never had a McD’s. You seemed to manage biting down and chewing? So is your jaw much better now?
Not been in one of these for years .dont think im missing much of their over priced food . Much better chicken places out there .Good review mate , keep well ,Keep cool
Had it the other day and I think I agree with you on the hash brown. I reckon that if I really want the hash brown on it I could have the hash brown separate, pop it in the toaster for a bit and put it in. Then again, still a bit of a faff.
Welcome home, Gareth. You're looking good, my friend. Must say I usually have food delivered as we don't drive. My recent experiences with KFC have been dreadful. Cold food, items missing, and little interest when we ring up. Luckily for us, a Louisiana Popcorn Chicken place has opened up nearby. The prices are similar but the quality was much better. It might be worth a try if you get the chance. Keep well,😊
£6.50. Put that on a plate separated out and if you were asked to pay that in a cafe you’d think it a rip off. Piled up in a box it looks more than you’re actually getting. Sometimes necessity dictates a take away but the prices considering the pathetic wages are way too much.
Important you do have a go at these prices Gareth, proper order. They're getting away with murder these days the price hikes, yet I doubt if the staff in these places have seen the equal amount of increases in their wages! "Tower" burger indeed, you know why it's called that? As a tower has the clearest vantage point to see you coming😂😂 Glad the old jaw seems to be back in full swing! 👍👍
