I have two HTP welders that I really like, and the user community is just awesome. This series, no doubt, is emblematic of just how far folks will go to drop their knowledge on these capable machines. Zila's given me great advice in the past (my lunch box welder is awesome!), and now I can't wait to go through these videos to learn about everything Pro Pulse! Many thanks for this strong effort!

Peter, I hope Jeff Nolan gives you credit for what you do for him. When I buy my next HTP machine which will be the ProPulse 300. I will be sure to emphasize it was because of you. Thank you for what you do , it is always a learning experience.

there was a comment where you asked me to compare 2 machines. - but I cant find it anymore .... and you wanted to compare a machine to the PP300 ..... well, let me tell you. -as far as power output - it compares REALLY close to the PP200/220MTS platform ..... when I tested power output I could not get more than 190ish amps in pulse out of the machine ... and according to the manufacture the 250 amp is peak pulse .... so the PP200/220mts has 300 amp peak pulse ...... the PP300 is a 320 amp mig machine with a 60 amp peak pulse .... I hope this shine some light on the "comparison" also if you plan on aluminum, the remote control is REALLY a "must have" .....

Peter, Just awesome. We corresponded briefly, but like many here have said I hope HTP realizes and appreciates your efforts in showing this powerful piece. I bought mine based on your vids and I made sure they recognized that. BTW I have read the manual cover to cover a few times, and referenced it as I played with most of the different functions, and I already learned 1 or 2 new things from your efforts on this preview of the manuals! Thanks for all you do!

The Only fully informed Aluminum Mig weldor I've ever seen, always love watching your vids keep it going, If you get a chance make a video on ALUMINUM mig welding 1/4" - 3/8" thick crack repair verticle and overhead, like on 53' ALUMINUM flatbed semi trailers. 😃😃😃 Thanks

@ZILAwelds 3 года назад
I did a video on an aluminum flatbed trailer, most of the stuff on there was 1/8-1/4"thick ... the parts that are thicker (3/8' or more) are the I beams on the frame and I would highly recommend you stay away from welding those .... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8RGp2cQVEmQ.html here is the trailer ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hqdpzioF6to.html here is why I wouldn't and you shouldn't weld that I beam but I am considering making a video on how to weld thicker aluminum sections.

How thin can the propulse Weld aluminum? I have a jon boat I want to work on and can't figure out if I want the invertig or the propulse.

@ZILAwelds 3 года назад
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eQ3SA8ny3uQ.html you can weld with .035 5356 wire down to about .030" .... a Jon boat is typically .060-.080" thick ... so as far as welding it - that is not really challenging ... lets say once your material thickness is .050 or .060" .... it's "easy" both machines could do the job ... in my mind vertical up or overhead is easier with the mig (but that is just me you as 3 other guys and get 4-5 different answers .... LOL) its up to you....

MTS 210 and Pro pulse 220 MTS have the same power board, on the logic board the pulse module is missing. the power output and duty cycle are identical

Lately, I've been watching an Indonesian welder who stick welds square tubing using a "dab, dab" technique which is basically turning a cheap Chinese inverter welder into a poor man's pulse stick welder. Some welds look very good, if you do it right. The trick seems to be using 6013 which has additional carbon content (which enables vertical welding). I learned the formula's for the 6013 flux vary and you need the more violent variety for this technique, vs the smooth running which wouldn't work very well. I'd like to see you take a look at this. Some come out looking almost like TIG, if you do it right. The joints are too thin to run a traditional bead all the way across, blows a hole. I'd love a pulse stick welder, but can't afford one. The welder only uses 2.6mm 6013 DCEP (vertical capable flux).
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 3 года назад
well - most guys that I know can weld vertical up with 6010, 6011, 6013, 7014, 7018 .... no problem ... 6010 and 6011 weld vertical down pretty easy as well .... the reason why you want a "violent" 6010 or 6011 rod is so the re strikes are easy and it runs contamination (from all the starts and stops_ out of the weld .... See on pulse stick the arc never extinguishes which keeps it clean and strong ! the arc goes from welding current to background current - the background is not enough power for any metal transfer worth mentioning BUT it keep the arc lit and burns just enough flux to maintain the shielded atmosphere .... every time your arc extinguishes it is a start and stop ... every start and stop is a potential weak point, leak point, origin of a crack or failure .... Personally o would not choose a technique like this if I was welding on anything that matters .... I can see a technique like this being fine for a fire pit or something else non critical ....
@massa-blasta
@massa-blasta 3 года назад
@@ZILAwelds the guy using this technique is not welding vertical, really only flat or horizontal. Every Indonesian welder is using this technique, although they are all capable of running nice conventional beads. The are also all using the same brand of 6013 with this particular flux mix. Nikko RD-460. They use this technique for fabrication, such as most people would be doing at home, as they can't afford more than stick welders. I have seen it come out looking like TIG, seriously.

DUDE 20 videos lol. I think this is a great idea, if I was still making videos, I'd try to get some shekels for making these on various machines. Its a lot of information to take in, and most people lack the drive to consume it all, but some have it, and they'll really appreciate this. Especially for anything more complicated than a Hobart Stickmate, I'm sure these will make folks feel better about buying one, it'll get them off to a good start with it.

Hey Peter, I meant to ask - on the PP220 is there a way to load wire without turning the gas off to advance it thru the mig gun? My older welders have that, didn't see a way on the PP220. Yes, I can just turn off the bottle, but I thought the pp220 would/should have that feature. Thanks!
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 3 года назад
yes and no. the machine is programmed to turn off the welding current AND the gas 4 or 5 sec into feeding wire without striking an arc ... so if you STAY on the trigger - you only loose a few seconds of gas after that you can feed as much wire as fast or as slow as you want to without loosing any more gas OR being afraid to unintentionally strike an arc as the wire comes out the mig gun .... as far as a job and purge button ? the PP220 Mts does not have that. the pp300 and the mig 200i have those .... why? beats me LOL
@kwasg3
@kwasg3 3 года назад
@@ZILAwelds Lol... Thanks for reply. I hope HTP engineers somewhere are seeing feedback. Things like this could just be a prefab job choice on the menu like "load wire" and handled in a software update to existing machines. Hopefully they are also developing more presets for unlisted wire, such as .023 Silicone Bronze etc. Another thing I would suggest, in case you have their ear, is once a job is picked, there is a recommended gas flow displayed somewhere. I am finding you and others suggest much stronger gas flow than I am used to. Oh, and last but not least, labeling the saved jobs with a simple alphebet menu. I realize we're just talking here, but maybe HTP sees this... Lol. Thanks again for recommending this machine to me! Rebuilding some .032 stainless exhaust right now... because I can with this machine... !!

Torn between this HTP welder or the Fronius transsteel 2200 that is capable of welding on 110 volt input
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds Год назад
If you want to weld aluminum or silicon bonze the htp is a “better choice” If you only weld steel - its a toss up If you need 110volt input you need 110 input … If you want 110 just because … forget it, you will be very disappointed with the output on the machine …. 110 volt has “nothing to offer” once you go past 14ga or 1/8” …. Its not really enough juice in a 110 outlet …. And it NEEDS to be a dedicated 20 amp outlet, nothing else being on that breaker …. It could be ok for some sheet metal/ auto body work
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds Год назад
Check you tips, nozzles and other consumable prices …. Fronius is NICE STUFF hands down !!! But its all proprietary stuff …. New nozzles htp 3 pack $20 Fronius 5 pack $140 New htp mig gun $149-169 New fromius mig gun $500 I mean …. Its nice stuff, quality comes at a price, so does exclusivity

You can't go wrong with the Pro Pulse. I was also between the two machines, bought the HTP and built my business with it. Never looked back. Ended up buying an HTP Invertig too and it's also been a great machine. I use my pro pulse for everything. Easy to go from repairing steel cargo trailers to aluminum boats and trailers in minutes. Pulse welding on aluminum boats and trailers without needing a spool gun is a game changer. Get both guns and you're ready for whatever comes at you.

Hey man, I’ve seen all your vids setting up my HTP welders. I appreciate everything I’ve learned from you. I’m just a hobbyist and a hack. I was able to get my wife’s cousin in Romania a Stel IronMig 221p. Can I make an arrangement with you to do a little one on one instruction with him via FaceTime or Skype? I’d pay for it but maybe like a 2 hour instruction time to get him up and running with stick and MiG then maybe in a couple months we can get him going on the scratch TIG.

@@ZILAwelds Tried, it got kicked back. It’s ok, I was over there for a visit and I got him up and running on it. The scratch start was easier than I thought it would be and the MiG operation is identical to my HTP machine.
