That is something im dreaming about, 3d print metals without having to burn money. Its so expensive, even good plastic printers cost allot here.. Plastic is ok, even fine. But, metal is metal. Plastic cant compete, at least not how i would like to use a 3d printer. God, i hope i can buy a 3d printer that prints with metals before im old and senile. I bet if those things got cheaper, and everyday man could get it. God knows what people would make, so many smart people out there. I hope to get a regular 3d printer this year. But knowing my brain, the second i buy one my brain is gonna say nope. And, creativity is gone and so is all my ideas i would like to try out. So, im looking at used one or a good bargain.. Would like creality cr10 s5 size, could use 500x500 tho hight is not highest priority. Perhaps there is something better than creality out there i missed. I follow 3d printing from time to time, just to see how things are evolving. xD
Not sure why the person with the drone was there to begin with, but glad he was! :) Even though it's not the quality of a regular printer, the fact it has some quality at all is kinda mindblowing to me. And indeed, this scales up with almost no extra cost.
It is just a question of feedback. The proof of concept is quite interesting. The drone will give it a rough location and a second system could move the nozzle slightly to position it exactly where it is needed. So the sky is the limit, literally
This cable bot with the drone to solve for rotation reminded me of the elaborate cable bot basketball hoop that was built on “stuff made here” in a recent video!
Some really cool products showcased here! That dual-modulus resin was amazing! It looks like a real advance in medical tech. And that laser-based metal printer - get one of those on the space station with a bunch of repair part files! And the drone 3D printing - I can't imagine the level of control needed to make that even remotely viable. There are a lot of smart, creative people out there!
Fistbump? What? You're Mr High Five! Tsk tsk tsk. 😁 The 3d printing version of Robot Wars sounds wild. Maybe Repfest will spawn a new division at the competitions that various high schools compete in.
Saw the robots when I was at the show, amazing stuff. Would have liked to have had a chat while you were there, but you looked incredibly busy, was nice to get a fist-bump though :)
Thinkin of the drone printer.... How crazy would it be to scale that up exponentially. LIke.... an automated helicopter with the concrete printing head they use to build homes. Would be awesome for super remote and hard to get to locations
Hey Joel, thanks for going to these Trade shows, Your content is cool and fun and educational, and I have saved thousands of dollars not having to go my self! I hope u and the family and crew have a great 4th!!!
Thanks for another great video! Looking forward to your MERF coverage. I don't know if you have time, but I'd love to see more coverage of MERF than you normally do. I often see cool things in the back ground that you never end up showing close up. So even if you did a walk through without interviews to add to the interview videos, that would be fantastic. High-5!
Those robots are cool. I got to see them at MRRF and got to see them and meet Sam, Joel and the other RU-vid creators that were there. @3D Printing Nerd, again Joel, thanks for all of the help you give us and I hope your hand didn't sting too hard from the high five🤣😎
Amazing video joel! BTW! I sent out your fanmail package from Eastern Wa yesterday so you should have it soon! Also sent a email with the letter to read about the items in the box for you! Enjoy and happy printing! HIGH FIVE!
Imagine a hexapod with a print head on the middle of said hexapod. You now have a mobile 3D printer that can print on the spot over any obstacle. And you’ll also have stability of 6 legs. Once printing is done, it will simply walk over to the next site. Sorta like Matt Denton’s old school CNC hexapod.
I'm most impressed by your pronunciation of "Birmingham"! Not bad for an American. I presume the drone printer could be scaled up to having cables hanging from construction tower cranes for printing buildings.
I agree. It's like "our technology is based on inducing microforces on the material to affect the quantum states of..." then Joel goes "lol this is so heavy!!1" We love your enthusiasm Joel! But sometimes it's good to _listen_ :P
13:00... Have they thought about supporting the nozzle from the bottom/lower instead of the top? It should help the print quality without adding much cost or programming.
@@amphibiland you'd be correct if it was a rocket. If the nozzle is very close to where the wire supports are, then the nozzle wouldn't be able to move as much. The propellers would be at the top and would give it the balance it needs.
Hi Joel. Im starting a new list. Name a legit print farm? Ones that pass piracy testing. Did they sell you a copy of a print without license checking nor paying required royalties? And pass that test without being pre warned. So thats the new list. Who is going to pass first? Who can name a legit farm first? Hidden camera upload to youtube would make it fun and entertaining. Show the actual license holder recieving royalty payment. Im going to on this list so i thought id warn Joel first. .
To all print farms and influencers. Are you ready? Im embarking on a 3d print comunity challenge. Name legit print farms. How to show they are legit? A hidden camera for youtube would be entertaining. To sell a 3d print the farm checks licenses and pays royalty to the actual licensed thing owner. Owners payment shows. Easy. It could be a walk in customer or a online order. Failure to license check and pay required royalty is piracy. Pirate farms being closed is a big gain for the honest comunities value jobs and businesses. Now lets see, Name the legit farms? Show the hidden camera footage? Im thinking i might make a vid to sum up results. Whos actually stepping up and name all the companies im sending this to who didnt. Yes that sounds good. I recon 1 week should give the comunity a view on which farms step up and to use.
Hi from Will and Mr Data :):] My challenge to find a legit 3d print farm has zero found so far. Nobody can even name 1. Uncle Jessy is opening a farm he answers questions but he refuses to say his farm is going to be legit. This is very concerning. Im totally calling him out on it. We are going to have to test it. on the honest comunities behalf and if he sells a print without license checking nor paying the required royalty thats piracy and we shall be in a position of doing everything possable to close him down. Nobody in the comunity should use a pirate farm. Piracy is a serious crime. Thought you should know. Im joining the right side in wanting all pirate farms closed. Many have been crushed already and deserve it for steeling n robbing from the honest comunity. Little old ladies youd not mug them for there hand bag. Piracy is theft. Myself and the sites that take actions on my and our behalf take a dim view on piracy. Support the lawfull honest comunity. I hope Joel you have courage going forward. I hope you dont get bought off. The honest comunity needs you.
I don't see any purpose for the drone printer. There was a company hears ago that had a printer that was suspended by cables so it had infinite build volume. The drone point seems useless and pointless.
I long for a day where we find an alternative to testing on animals... I understand that this part of the process we humans use to create medical advances but its so cruel and lots of times unnecessary
The MELTIO machine is a SCAM the parts that he showed to Joel where not made in that machine at all, they just welded those into a build plate, what a disgusting company
