Crazy Antique Car Auction In Old ford Dealership - Zephyr, 36 Roadster and More!!!

While looking for auctions a few weeks back, Matt spotted this killer auciton at an old Ford Dealership in Illinois filled with early Ford and Lincoln parts. Listed in the auction was a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr 3 Window in Washington Blue that caught Matt's eye. Also listed in that auction was a 1936 Ford Roadster that was an old hot rod with a killer tuck and roll interior, chrome dash and a dressed flathead. The auction was not only filled with killer cars, there are so many amazing parts its worth the trip to possibly score big. Matt has some friends at the Eastwood store in Alsip, IL that he convinced to tag along for this adventure. What are the chances Matt scores two killer 3 windows in the same week??!!!

Matt, I don't know how many people caught the divided work area from the showroom set apart by the glass doors. That is an original Ford showroom untouched since the 30's. It wouldn't take much to return that to it's "Glory days". Unfortunately with the unrest in Illinois, would someone put the time and energy into returning a Ford dealership to it's proud past?

There's a great Mexican restaurant about a quarter mile North of the Eastwood store. Its an old car wash converted to a 50's diner that has been a Mexican spot for about 20 years now. Check it out the next time you're in the neighborhood. The guys at Eastwood are great; knowledgeable, patient, and seem to treat every question as if it were their own project.

Hey Matt & Co. Wow, another awesome auction video, I've never really had a interest in estate auctions, I realize I've probably missed out on alot of cool stuff, those cars were worth what was paid, & you are very correct on the personal interest that drives the price north. Wish we had a Eastwood store here in Michigan, I like seeing something before I buy it. The 33 3 window is extremely cool, can't wait to see what transpires....Build on Dudes!!

I was there. Me and my friend are in your video at the beginning. I used to own that building for a short time and actually sold it to the guy that passed. Very cool that you came all this way for the auction.

IronTrap Garage Wish I would have known you were so far from home. Would have at least suggested some neat places to check out. It’s a neat old building but proved too big for me to keep up. Rumor has it they used to have a huge ramp out back that they drove cars up to the second floor to paint way back in the day. About three owners back the upstairs was full of parts as that was what it was used for. Supposedly all the stock got removed by the original family and is still somewhere. I spoke to his widow a few years back about old pictures and stuff. She said she’d get to it. I didn’t want to press much harder than than that. She passed a few years ago as well. Her husband and owner of the dealership is buried in the local cemetery and has a Ford and Mercury logo on his headstone.

Great to see a Zephyr. I worked with an older guy in the early 70s that had one. He would drive it to work about once a year. What a treat that was. Unfortunately it was in a major crash. He was so sad. Us too. Frank was the coolest. Kept his smokes in the sleeve of his t shirt and talked hot rods a bunch. Love the photos at the end. Great standard for your videos. That Zephyr is one of my dream cars. I will never buy one because they are on almost everyone's list of want cars. Knowing what things are and what they are worth makes it worthwhile. The hemi heads made the pile a bargain.

When I was in high school in 1967 a good friend who's dad owned a junk yard had a 55 Bel Air 4 door hard top white on grey with 12,000 miles original. It was special ordered new with a 3 speed on the column. Nicest car I had ever seen at that time. He wrapped it around a tree. Ugh. In those days every high school kid had a 55, to 59 Chev or Ford. A few had the odd Buick or other.

The thing that strikes me when seeing those old cars parked in at the Eastwood store, in their day these vehicles were every day ordinary cars and trucks, but now they are the coolest looking things on four wheels. Funny how it's now over a half century later that we appreciate these vehicles. Makes me wonder what they will think of today's cars 50 to 60 years from now. I find modern cars useful and utilitarian, but uninspiring things that all pretty much look the same. But who knows, our grandchildren may love them.

When I was 17 I had an Olds that looked just like that one. In 1991. about 3:35. Except it had clearly been painted once with a roller. I never did get it to run, the closest it came was some pops when I put the rotor on backwards somehow. I've always assumed it had jumped time somewhere but I was too green to sort it out. Today I'd just be too lazy. lol

So you have an issue with us stopping by a store while in town for a company that supports us? Do you realize how marketing and the world works? Without us doing these things we can't get tools/supplies sponsored and we can't afford to do the channel.. then no videos.. then you have nothing to bitch about and have to yell at the news instead... we try and make these integrations as painless as possible. It really is a nice store and they're car guys.

Matt, Do you know how long ago the dealership had been open? I used to work out of the Ford District Office that covered dealers in that area, but I don't recognize the building.
