Matt Scored Big With A $1 Scrap Pile Lot At A HUGE Car Auction

A crazy 3 day online auto auction popped up locally in NJ and it was INSANE!!! The property looked like it was set up like an indoor junkyard and the owner seemed to like 1939-40 Mercury's. While majority of the listings went for retail or above, Matt was able to score a few deals. Matt enlisted the help of Mike and George to load up a truck full of Early Ford Gold!! Matt's biggest gamble was for a scrap pile that he purchased for $1, but he spotted 3-4 Ford front axles at the bottom of the trash pile. Let's hope there are some goodies stashed as well!! If you see anything you need send us an email or a message on Instagram!!!

The watering can for Kate is actually designed to fill radiators with water/coolant. They still make them but now they are made of plastic.

Yep. I used one just like it at the Texaco I worked at back in 69'. Only it was painted green

@@frankjones4950 Yup, I remember them being at almost every gas station in my farm town I grew up in. Every one had the product logo on the side. They had a habit of disappearing. Most stations ended up put them on a padlocked chain. I loved it when the Gulf station gave away construction board pop out models of the lunar lander before Apollo 11 went up. It was one of those tab A in slot X kind. I wish I still had a few. Imagine what they'd be worth now.

That old watering can is to fill radiator's. That's why the end of the spout is shaped that way to fit on top of the filler inlet. When I started working in gas stations in 1969 as a 14 year old they still used that stuff as well as the glass bulk oil containers with the spout caps. I recall back then when they went to the cardboard oil cans the glass containers were tossed in the trash, It did not bug me then but now when I think about it it really does. I am the same way with stuff. We don't have any sales like that here in Arizona but if we did I would be buying up all kinds of mystery stuff. I love to swap meet. Thanks for the great videos.

Spring 1963, Spokane Wa., my cousin Chuck was looking for his first car. One newspaper add read, 1948 Ford coupe with spare parts, $200.00. We went to the farm to look at the car and it was 5 different colors as the guy had used 6 cars to put it together. The spare parts were the rest of the other 5 cars. Can't imagine what those parts would be worth today. Fun times back in the day.

It seems to me from watching several of your auction videos that if a guy or gal was smart they could pick up almost everything needed to build a nice hot rod or street rod. Admittedly I'm more into sports cars now ,older British ones, but still enjoy the old 50's and 60's style hit rods and drag cars. Matt you and Mike do slot to keep this hobby and "life style" going thanks.

Those painted shift knob were a 1930's accessory, usually a multi-coloured marble effect. Our 32 Chev had one. The car had only done 7000 miles from new so the knob still had paint on it. I suspect most have disappeared a very long time ago.

One of those Olds/Pontiac rear ends has leaf spring pads, so it's probably a 1957. It would be the one to save if you want one for a future gasser project, the newer ones are set up with coil springs and connecting arms.
