I would like to know how well the adjustable timing gear works for you. I think I will be getting crazy carls kit myself, my vp44 has died twice in one year and the conversion kit may end up costing more but it cant be any worse on reliability when compared to the vp.
Hey man your gonna want to use the vp pop off pressures. The truck will run better and less smokey. I've done quite a bit of research on the swap and pretty much everybody agrees that the higher pop off pressure is better.
The Dog House i think it should run as long as you dont have some crazy pump behind it thats meant to flow a ton of fuel going through stock injectors. just make sure with the pump builder
what made you go with the p pump I get that it's awesome just to have one and they perform great but wouldn't it have been way easier, not to mention cheaper and easier, to get a suped up vp
connor boyle I've had 3-vp trucks, yes they're awesome when they work but the VP can fail at anytime, without warning. I've also had 2 cp3 trucks and a VE 12v.. so I have a few reasons why doing a p pump. They're reliable, they last forever, and even if they do fail. They can be rebuild, where the VP can not because the electrical system is what usually gets burnt up. - travis
The Dog House I just wanted to ask so you have had pretty much 1st 2nd and 3rd gen trucks what is your favorite one for dailying? And I'm subscribing just watching a couple vids and thought it's time lol
Why does that pump gear have a key way? I thought the p7100 just had a tapered shaft with no key and that's why they slip out of time if it's not clean when u install it?
meanbean51 to be honest I'm not 100% sure, I know that the adjustable timing gear was recommended so that I didn't have to worry about figuring out timing issues.. and also it comes with a key. So that you can key it to the pump shaft. But it will be a learning experience for sure - Travis
The cam sensor thing was not its the timing pin housing Need to perform TDC procedure to install that part The mounting holes in the pin housing are bigger than they need to be in order to adj TDC in the cam gear Do not ever loosen the screws or you have to retime the engine unless you pin it first before removing it
TrollMaster300 the p pump or "Bosch p7100" is an injection pump they ran on the 96-98 12v (along with other generators/engines) that they still make today.. it's an inline pump that can create and handle a lot of power. The common rail has a cp3 injection pump. Which also can withstand a good bit of power along with the reliability - travis
