Haha, I noticed that! Maybe the difference is that in Britain it's a compliment - we adore our eccentrics as long as they don't go too far. This man really isn't all that eccentric though.
That is actually a great compliment in the uk we are a nation of animal lovers and so long as you look after your animals well crazy cat or dog person is a nice thing to be called and so long as your love for animals does not lead to hoarding animals we do not judge you
its not a compliment certainly lol idk why ppl are lying to you in the responses. no one is carrying around their pets in prams in the uk, we carry them around in pet carriers. idk why he just doesnt carry the cat around like a normal person if he thinks those plastic, cage like carries may scare the cat he could get a bigger softer one, there are even expandable, foldable ones that are airline approved. this is just way too weird
@@nalaaslan9942 If you don't have a car, a carrier is extremely uncomfortable for both the cat and the person who has to carry it. Trying not to swing around the cat isn't a good time when you're on the way to the vet, who might be a bit of a walk away. A stroller isn't that weird, it's more weird that you judge him for being resourceful.
I find this gentleman so loving to care for his cat. If those criticizing this man did not listen closely to the man's explanation not that he needs one. Your great John and Sadie.
I've only been with my partner for 6 years but he has had his cat Morgan since he was 21 years old - he is now just turned 40!! He still goes to her first when he gets home from work for a kiss and cuddle and he carries her around in his arms like she is a newborn baby. I love watching their relationship, it was seeing how he treated her that first made me fall for him!
Molly just broke my heart ❤️, I'm SO happy that she pulled through. Thank God her owner had the money for the surgery and everything turned out great but imagine not having the money for surgery and having to decide whether to put them down because you can't afford their surgery?!? Alot of people go through this unfortunately. 😭
That's why I don't have pets anymore. It's too sad when they get old or sick. I can't handle it. Plus I'm now used to a clean apartment without litter boxes & tumbleweeds of fur... And my furniture stays looking new! If I ever got another pet it would be a pup even though I am a crazy cat lady, just because dogs don't have litter boxes. Or I'd get a kitten and potty train it so it would never need a litter box. I had a CatGenie years ago, but got rid of it when my last 2 furbabies left...
My pup is 17 years old and I've owned her for almost all 17. When you've had a pet that long your relationship is so deep from all those years of trust and respect you've had for each other. I can completely relate to John being so close to his cat. :)

My daughter's cat started losing weight at an alarming rate about 3 years ago and we discovered she had hyperthyroidism. We got her on the right meds and she started gaining weight. She had lost about 1/3 of her body weight, but was gaining it back (but slowly). Then she had a mild seizure and it was caused by high blood pressure. While doing an ultrasound of her heart (which was enlarged a bit) the cardiologist found something in her abdomen that looked suspicious. We made an appt. to have her scanned by someone who was more experienced with issues not heart related. While waiting for that appt., she stopped eating and was choking and gagging. Turned out she had a thyroid cyst AND liver cancer. By this point she was 17 years old. We decided to take a chance and do surgery. They removed the thyroid cyst (which diminished the hyperthyroidism) but they could not get all of the liver cancer. They removed about 2/3 of it, but the remaining third was wrapped around one of the major blood vessels going into the liver. The only good thing was the cancer, though malignant, was low grade (growing very slowly) and had NOT spread to other parts of her body. She came thru just fine and, with the help of blood pressure medication, thyroid medication and a diet to, hopefully, prevent/slow down kidney problems, we are hoping she will live a couple years more. Now the biggest problem we face is how my daughter will handle her eventual decline. My daughter is on the autism spectrum and the cat is her therapy cat and she has had her since she was 8 weeks old.
As an autistic person with a very old cat who is my absolute best friend I can relate so much to this. It really is horrible that the creatures we feel we can often understand better than humans have such short lives. I was shattered when I had to put my dog down who I had known since I was a baby, and I think the biggest mistake we made was to buy another dog too soon after. Nothing can replace a bond like that, and with grief still so near it is very hard to not start comparing. I now love my dog incredibly much, but she, just like my cat, is also getting older. I can't really offer you much, except for my empathy. I wish you many happy years still with your cat, and I hope that when the time does come, you will have a caring vet, many good memories, and time and peace to grieve and heal.
I don't know if this will help but I would suggest getting an older kitten 6+months or young cat. But when this cat passes you wk have to adopt another as the remaining one may be affected. Shelters have too many that need homes. I hope this helps.
Would it be an idea to get a new cat before the current one passes? So she can get used to and love the new cat so the loss of the older cat might not be quite as intense.

@@ankiking The old cat won't let us. She HATES other cats. My daughter understands this and can look beyond to the next cat, specifically a kitten she can train with the knowledge she has gained from this one. But she also aware that the loss of her current cat is going to hit hard.

I had a roommate who had a 22 yr old grey with white mask cat. She had gotten her from an aunt at 18, she was still alive at 25 yrs. Senile, would take gloves, rolled up socks, small clothes items, line them up on floor and try to nurse them, with her baby face and just purr. Cool cat.
My girl Daphine(cat) passed away just shortly after her 19th birthday in 2018. I raised her at a week old, because her mom(not my cat) was killed by a car. I still miss her greatly, so I understand how that man feels.
Sadie and her "dad" is so sweet! 💖 My oldest cat is 16 1/2 years old. And she is my shadow just like Sadie 🥰 I am always worry for her because of her age, can't imagine living without my shadow, but I hope we can have several years together still! Thanks for the episodes. All the vets in BV are so loving and caring! It really shows theirs love for the animals and the work they do. Not to discriminate, all the vets are great😊, but Scott's genuine care for not only the animals but also the owners is so nice to see.🤗

My daughters cat was almost 19 when she passed away. Over her last 4 years, she very slowly dropped weight. But she was healthy as a horse. She was in excellent health until a couple of months before she passed. Her liver gave out. My daughter had her put to sleep because she really began to suffer. It was heartbreaking.
I am much like John, the Crazy Cat Man, and I am American as well, and I was absolutely crazy about my cat who my mom saved at 6 weeks old back in beginning of 2002. She lived to 19 years old happiest cat we ever seen, unfortunately we had to put her to her eternal rest on May 3rd this year. I had exactly same bond as John has with his beautiful cat, which I absolutely missed quite a lot having that kind of bond.
Thank you, Sadie, for reminding me to check my own blood pressure. Also, I don't know what's weirder, taking a cat to a pub on its birthday, or writing out birthday greetings in a card as though the cat could read them.
I miss the original format of Bondi vet so much. It was just dr Chris, Dr Lisa, Dr Andrew Marchevsky & the rest of SASH and Tim Faulkner. The new shows dont have any of them ☹ Please dont change the format of vet on the hill too. Love the show as is

I started watching Dr Chris, but Dr Scott is definitely my favorite of the Australian vets. I watch a lot more American vet shows, though like Dr Pol, Dr Jeff, Dr Oakley...and occasionally the ER vets
My cat Dagmar became diabetic in his elder years. overnight his weight dropped by about half and he became blind. I gave him insulin for several weeks before he passed in the night. He was a great cat waiting for me everyday upon arriving at home after. Work.
i thought i was being a little over dramatic when i said i was devastated when i lost my special kitty at 17 1/2. it feels, dare i say, good to hear someone else say that. hope you have a few more beautiful years with her. 🌷 🐈⬛🐾🌷🌿🌼🌱🌷
Sadie is (was?) such a special spirit. My Kismet lived to be 21, Kudos 19. They past within a few months of each other. My heart still hurts. Yet, I am beyond blessed to have had them as long as I did. They were my babies. I will forever treasure them in my heart
One way to make this show more educational is to annotate veterinary terminologies like GDV, Ventricular tachycardia, what kind of drug to reverse V-tach and other medical details. Vet students would love to learn as they watch the show!!!
My old boy cat Monty is currently eleven. He is very shy, but over the years we developed an incredible bond. He is sometimes very needy but he is one of my best friends in the entire world. He is with me pretty much 24/7. I hope he knows how much I love him (even if I have to refuse to give pets at 3 in the morning!). He's had some sensitive belly issues his entire life despite diet changes and it doesn't seem to cause him any prolonged discomfort. I would gladly clean up after him daily if it meant he would around for a long time to come. I really wish pets had a longer lifespan. I would gladly give him my years. I love my baby boy so damn much.

My cat Emma will be 18 on June 13th. She's thinner than she use to be, but still plays like a kitten. I love her so much. She's my daughter and my best friend. 😺 ❤
Sadie reminds me so much of our Macduff, who died at 10 years of age from diabetic complications. He was awfully thin before he finally passed on. His (non-biological) sisters lived to be 19 and 20.
I understand how cat lovers are toward their “babies”. I have 4 cats…all different colors. They have their own personalities. I love them all. I am even feeding a feral cat. I am the only one that can pet him.
An exhibition of Australian animals came to where I live [Arizona USA]. There were several kangaroos who didn't look like they would get excited by much. There was a kangaroo joey in a pouch that we got to touch. There were some lizards and the most beautiful pink bird I've ever seen. I think it was a parrot. In the US we have only one marsupial, opossum, so I was very happy to see your animals. Thank you.
My 15 yr old cat was getting really skinny and we found she has hyperthyroidism which means medicating twice a day for the rest of her life but if that means I can get maybe 5 more years with her, than I can do it. Love my ole girl! ❤
Our cat suddenly lost weight when he was 10. He was tested for an intestinal worm as well as liver, kidney, bladder and thyroid functions which all came back negative. The vet said that there wasn't much to worry about as he was still eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally and he was still very active. Sadly we lost him in January due to a saddle thrombus but he had 10 years of happiness although sadly his first year was horrible
Sad to hear, I grew up with 2 dogs and a cat, she was born a few months after I was, and the runt of the litter, we named her Midget, the two dogs lived for a while, till about 11 or so, they died of old age, and one had mange, we treated it the best we could but pressed for money at the time
@@humancattoy7767 Everyone always has those memories. The good and the bad, sadly those three pets I mentioned all died within a 6 month period, my parents took me to Busch Gardens so I could have a positive on the day they died
I really feel for the "Crazy Cat Guy". My little LacyFoo was my companion for 21 years! Had her sense my first wife when she was only a few weeks old. (The cat...not the first wife).. She passed a couple of years ago, and it was heart-wrenching for me and my current wife.
We did that with a dog we had when I was a Teenager. His name was Sandy. He ran out onto the road and got hit by a car and broke his leg. He had a big cast on his rear leg for a couple of months and we wheeled him around in a pram just so he could get some out of the house time. People use to look into the pram expecting a baby and saw a dog looking back at them.
She (the Cat) can hear you. All animals know what “Blood Samples” means. 18 year old is fantastic but could live another year or three. My old cat would eat but got lazy, so where ever she was I put the food there. My heart broke. She was 18 human years old too. The dog suffered such loss too because he died within a year. It is like losing a member of the family whom has 50-60 years left of healthy living.
I agree with John, I am a crazy animal lover. Have 5 dogs now and when we move out to acreage in a year or so we will have 9 dogs and some cats. Possibly horses and I want a Scottish Highland cow. I understand the owner of Molly and the attachment. I dropped my dog today and she screamed twice loudly, scared me to death.
Please check your pets teeth and gums especially when they are seniors. Gum disease and decayed teeth can affect their kidneys and heart. Brush their teeth daily. I recently lost my cat. He had a stroke shortly after dental surgery. He never recovered, heart was weak and fluids built up in his lungs despite strong diuretics. I had to put him down because he suffered greatly.

Actually I've seen tons and tons of those frogs at a camping site on our honeymoon at Gold Coast... tons like hard to avoid stepping on one in the grass 😨 they sure are a pest

I haven't ever seen the level of veterinary skill or cares here in the US as on this program. Usually when there's a severe situation the only option given is euthanasia. And when surgery is offered it is often so expensive that anyone other than the wealthy can afford to save their beloved babies. I just wonder if the prices there are as unforgiving in other countries?
I feel you I found two four week old kittens in a box back in May this year and the girl cat eyes were completely ruptured and the boy had a eye infection and both respiratory infection and extremely thin girl weighed .3 pounds and boy .5 and the emergency vet told me if the girls eyes don’t heal correctly it would be almost $3,000.00 to remove them….. but luckily the shelter I took them too said if I fostered them they would do all the vet care for her and him.

I’m in the same spot as moggy, lost my first cat with medical issues that we were not able to determine as he was too sick and lost a lot of weight. My second cat is loosing weight and following a similar path, he throws up a lot and is usually bile. I’m hesitant to take them to the vet because it’s very stressful and it’s a bit of a drive so I don’t know if he could handle it, any advice from a professional would be helpful
Does Anyone know if Sadie made it to 2021? She was a lovely talkative kitty. Not so sure what a cat pram is unless its a baby stroller for a human used for a cat instead.
