As a result of watching this video......I ordered this chair and it's absolutely fantastic! It's not too heavy, it's tough and it's comfortable. I use it on all my backpacking trips and I wouldn't go out without it. As a 70 year old with all sorts of dodgy joints, this really works for me. Many thanks for the review.

Extremely versatile! Didnt even think of using it in the tent. You could also use it to turn a paddle board into a kayak 🤙

this is a great video. I've had an original crazy creek for almost two decades now (purchased for me by my parents for summer camp in the 90's). it's held up somehow, but man, is it BULKY. it doesn't bend whatsoever and it's incredibly thick. I still love the simplicity of it and the ability to feel like I'm lounging in it so I thought I'd look up what they offer now and saw the hex 2.0 which seemed like an immediate yes. but I always like to do some research beforehand no matter what and found your video. you gave a great rundown on this chair and were clear, easy to listen to, and concise. the video quality is awesome, too. I subscribed just from this video. thank you!

That's a true test of a piece of equipment, 20 years and it's still going strong. That's brilliant, hopefully the hex 2.0 will do the same. Thank you for the kind words and your support 🙌

Great review Jason. At first sight it looks similar to the thermarest trekker chair I use with the only difference you strap your sleeping mat to it for extra cushion and that's your insulation from the ground. It takes a bit of fiddling at times so I like the simplicity of your chair. Great if you are stuck hunkering inside a tent during a storm.
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn Год назад
I had looked at the Trekker chair but I think that I would have been too worried about my Xtherm being damaged to use it outside of the tent. I'd say they are fair comfortable though

Great informative video - I was thinking about purchasing one of these .. now I am for sure - which one ? I was using a rigid bottom chair inside my tent (rainy days) and the Hex 2.0 Original looks good .. but my bad back say "get the Longback" (wider AND higher), but for $10 USD more the Power Lounger looks like therapy -
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn Год назад
If you don't mind hearing my opinion on it, I reckon the longback version is probably your best bet. The pack size would be bigger than the original but otherwise it is all good. I don't believe that the power lounger would be much better, maybe it would if you wanted to have the extra padding underneath by leaving it folded. I have a bad back too and mine is the little hex 2.0 original, if I could chose another it would be the longback version of the hex 2.0. Cheers for watching 🍀

Great review Jason. Looks fab. I have a the Sea to Summit Air Chair, but never use it, because I find it a faff to put the sleeping pad in. This looks much better and I like the versatility.

This looks ideal. I'm trying to cut down on pack weight for when I can get out again but I would put up with this weight for the ability to support my back. I've always had Spina bifida occulta. It doesn't stop me getting out but it does mean having a permanently sore back. I have compounded that by breaking my back and neck. 😂 I'll look into this. Could be a big help

... Good review ... I have had the original Crazy Creek seat for many years ,, also a pair of them designed with lower straps for my canoe seats .. slightly different fill methods but still very versatile ,,, might have to pick up this new 2.0 for comparison ... Great mentioning all the uses ,, not many think it through ... I agree a great piece of gear ... Stay Safe ..

Looks very comfortable.... If it had a couple ring holes in the top of the back rest part, one in each top corner.could it be lashed to a tree with some cord to elevate it of the ground a bit? if you was in a wooded area say. If you know what i mean?

I don't think that it would disperse the weight properly to be comfortable in that situation. I'd say you'd be better off with a hammock style chair instead. They look pretty class

I think the reason more people don't use this type of chair is because it's a little bulky and heavy for what it is. A chair like the helinox zero packs smaller and even lighter including legs. I think it's right at about 500 grams. And if you needed you could use your backpack as a backrest. The other uses for this look pretty cool though. Great review
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn Год назад
Including the legs the Chair zero would be heavier than this little chair. I love the versatility and simplicity of the Crazy Creek but the other chairs have their own benefits. Each to their own really, have a good weekend 🙌

@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn Год назад
@LifesaHobby there is a Crazy creek canoe chair but this is not it. As I said in the video, it has an 8mm closed cell foam that insulates you from the ground and it also protects you from the damp. It gives plenty of back support, so much so that if it wasn't for this chair I wouldn't be able to continue to go camping. I don't think that there is a more natural way of sitting than sitting on the ground and many cultures do it with no issues. Your friend should probably get himself at least a closed cell foam pad as the waterproof trousers will allow water through eventually. No one likes a wet arse
