Not to be pedantic, but the title and description really should use the word "rotary" and not "radial". This will make them match the text in the video which is accurately written. "Radial" is the term used for engines whose crankshaft rotates inside a stationary crankcase. The cylinders of those engines are arranged circumferentially around the crankshaft and do not rotate along with the propeller. "Rotary" is exclusively used for engines whose crankcase rotates around a stationary crankshaft along with the propeller. They share the same circumferential layout as radials but not the same function. The final demo in the video is of a true radial engine. All of the others are rotaries.

You bolt the crankshaft to the firewall and put the prop on the crankcase.

That first one is a rotary engine. Radials do not have cylinders revolve rotaries do.

Most rotaries had no throttle... just an ignition cutout.... hence the burst of power to slow them down...

It is not a radial engine it is a rotary engine because the whole engine rotates instead of just the propeller....

Fun to play with....but wouldn't want to fly a plane with one....full throttle or interrupted switch...no brakes; so one has to kno what your doin....doing.... have help!!!

These are rotary engines! This kind of rotary engine was obsolete by the end of World War 1. Wankel Rotary Engines came our decades later.
