My 1st doggo was part pointer. He barked three times in his twelve years, each time to warn us of danger. Duke was truly the best of buddies for a young boy, and I miss him 45 years later.

My neighbor had one of these dogs, name was just "Boss". He'd run from yard to yard and check on everyone (cul-de-sac) just to see if he could help. He'd try to help with anything... fishing, gardening, backyard football. He was everyone's friend. No one cared that he basically roamed free. Cool dog.

I feel like dogs like that straight up just are 1000% soul and drive. They don't love, they idolize. I bet he dreamt of all you guys when he slept. That could be a damn movie. I had a cat like that everyone called bandit, if you left a window open on our block he would just come and chill in your place. He had a schedule, literally. We would always wonder around six, when he knew we would all be getting home from work, and hang out in the living room. Every single day for two years.

Adam, we just helped rescue two German Shorthair pointer males in an emergency situation. We live in Northern New England. They are healthy, but really need new homes. The owner was homeless and surrendered his boys for their sake. Because of the owner's situation we don't have enough info to give to a German Shorthair Pointer rescue group and we're a bit at an impasse. Any ideas?

My late father used to love Pointers, he had an English Pointer that he adopted as a rescue, he was the most loyal dog you ever saw. He would happily walk alongside my father without a leash, never once running off or getting aggressive at other dogs. I also use the Zoom Groom on our shorthair. I find it’s best to do this at least once a week since those little hairs stick to everything! Great video! Thanks for highlighting this wonderful breed!

One of the workers at my Great-grandma's nursing home would bring their dog into work everyday. I'm not sure if he is the same breed but he looked exactly like this one. He was always running around the home bringing smiles to the residents. I remember playing with him a lot as a kid. What amazing dogs

We have an 8 year old pointer/lab mix and he really is the best dog ever. He's a little lower energy than a typical GSP but still much higher energy than a lab. He points, he loves to chase the ball, and he's very silly. He has the big chest of a GSP but the hind end of a lab, so he walks a little funny. Overall he's very sweet and protective. We would strongly consider getting a GSP or another mix in the future, they're excellent dogs. One thing nobody ever talks about is how much personality GSP and mixes have. Booker is very attached to his toys and won't sleep unless he has his 'lizard', which he's had since he was a puppy and has never destroyed. He also loves to cuddle and thinks he's much smaller than he is when it comes to lap time. He's around 70ish pounds.

I have a 6 year old 50lb black lab/GSP mix and she’s the greatest dog ever as well. She’s sweet, smart, funny, energetic, an incredibly fast runner and great swimmer, and I love it when she points. She’s obsessed with bunnies and loves the cold and snow. She’s so fast that she ruptured her ACL mid last November so we’ve been doing lots of PT after her surgery and she’s doing so well!

As a receptionist at a doggie daycare, I can confirm how crazy GSPs are without enough stimulation. I live in the south in the beach city so they’re extremely popular here but sadly, not everyone puts enough time in them that they deserve :(

I really love your channel. I used to volunteer at the humane society when I was young (13), and took the dogs on walks and played with them. I love how you explain the breeds history and temperaments. I don’t have a desire to own a dog, I have a more cat lifestyle. But I love my friends dogs and learning more about them. Good luck with your work and channel. You’re very talented.

GSP!!! ♡♡ I was hoping for one. We had a boy names Spott. He was brown. And the biggest cry baby:) he was so attached to us and always wanted to be near us. We tested the whole egg carring thing and it works. They can carry raw egg in their mouth without breaking it. He was also a cuddler. Such a sweet boy. And he could hike all day and beg for another walk the minute we got home.

I had a German Shorthair Pointer growing up. She was a brave girl, tall for a female GSP as well. She really loved her sister who was a bullmastiff and was an excellent foster mom when we fostered puppies. Our bullmastiff however, she was terrified of puppies. Used to run away from them. Taylor (the GSP) was a wonderful dog and we got her by chance.

I love that she goes in depth describing each breed. I'm not a dog owner, but if I decide to get one, I want to make sure I get the exact right breed for me and my family, and this helps! I don't want to choose based on which ones I think are the cutest, but the one that will be happiest with my family's personality.

I have a pointer mix as a service dog, and can definitely agree with the energy! Keeping up with her is how I got into running and hiking as frequently as I do. She points, tries to play with anything dog-sized (including groundhogs and feral cats), and tends to adopt anyone who spends more than 5 minutes in her presence. She loves working and if she didn't have a job I think she'd find one! I love her to pieces.

Such a beautiful breed! My father got our German shorthair pointer from a friend of his. Many ppl didn't want her because she hardly had any spots, but it never bothered my dad. Bibi was an excellent hunting partner and liked to kill any animal sight lol. Unfortunately, we had to put her down almost ten years ago. She lived until she was almost 18 years old! Still miss her to this day, but I know she's up in heaven, hunting pheasants. Animals are truly God's gift to us. God bless to anyone who reads this!
