@@JonAlycia No, for safety reasons. Stopping during a crossing can cause several situations. 1. Losing traction and sinking deeper, thus flooding your vehicle and / or engine, especially in these kei trucks where the engine is below. 2. Stopping breaks your bow wave, which is crucial for carrying momentum across and breaking up the current. 3. In the event that you stop and sink deeper, your rocker panels and tires become a flat surface for the current to push against. The last thing you want is to be pushed sideways. 4. You risk the possibility of getting stuck midway, and without a winch or backup vehicle that could mean total loss. Also, yes stopping part way isn't great for the environment either. The longer a rig is in the water, the more it pollutes the stream due to oil, exhaust, other fluids, etc...
@@vroomoon I see what you're saying. We do a lot of 4x4ing and this is hardly a water crossing. I mean, I guess for my buddies little van it kind of is, but other wise it wasn't deep. Also, gotta take it slow as there can be large boulders under the water that you can't see.
@@vroomoon There was no risk of getting stuck in a rocky creek bed, but the bigger issue is oil leaking or other environmental concerns. That's why we usually cross as quick as we can
@@JonAlycia. Thank you for the reply. I'm interested in importing one of these as a safer (in my mind), more economical, and more useful family side by side (UTV).
I'm not positive as my buddy hasn't owned this for a number of years now, but I believe it might have had a constant variable transmission, therefore no gears. And I do not think it had a low range.
@@JonAlycia ok thx. These little 4wd kei vans/trucks are very capable even know they are stock. You would be surprised where they can go with the right equipment on them. I’ve seen videos of them going pretty much everywhere.
Hey! I just chatted with my buddy who is seen driving in this video. He reminded me that it was in fact a 5 speed manual with a high and a low gear. I had totally forgotten
I'm sure they weren't made for this type of action but it's amazing how well this thing did off road. My friend is crazy and never goes easy on his vehicles. I think this one he ended up rolling over on a mountain while 4x4ing on a steep incline. lol
