The tonality you hear in Carnatic violins is completely purposeful. The way they're built is quite different from Western violins, and the way Indian classical violinists are taught to play is ALSO quite different from the Western tradition. And yes - the vocals you hear Bindu singing are multitracked over her own voice multiple times. They are not synthesized.
This group has their own musical school here in Bangalore , India. You can check them out . Ambi is the son of Mastero L.Subhramanium - the violinist. The entire members of LS family is full of musicians. LS has done many Collaborations with musicians across the world. This particular band has some amazing collections too, which r available on RU-vid.
@@leomacron4882 Both of you are correct. "Mridangam" is the Sanskrit word and "Mirudhangam" is the Tamil word. The difference in the rules for word formation between the two languages, specifically because Tamil tends to have vowels between consonants you have the added "i" between "m" and "r". Also technically, Tamil lacks the actual letter for the "r" (which is actually a vowel in Sanskrit), and uses "r" the consonant instead. Therefore it requires the added vowels.
It is believed that Amir Khusrau split the Mridang (or the Pakhwaj, both similar instruments) into two individual drums to better suit the Khayal style of singing. So logically Tabla derives from Mridang... Unfortunately Ustad Zakir Hussain ji has imprinted very much on Korbin so I would blame the Ustad for Korbin not remembering that they are two different instruments. LOL.
For violin, you should listen to Balabhaskar....sadly, he passed away in a road accident about 2 years ago. But listen to him performing at Puttaparthi, Sai Mandir.
You guys have already reacted to at least two other videos from the same Vocalists Ranjani & Gayatri (RaGa) one month back !! Surprised that you didn't identify them..
It's a treat for us! Both Agam and Ranjani Gayathri on the same day!! They are legends, you've reacted to 2 of their Darbar festival videos(Marathi Abhang and Chandrakauns&Madhukauns) a few months back! And the other singer's voice is not synthesized or anything! All of their voices are completely original, they never do that especially in carnatic music. Also,Violin techniques are very different in carnatic music(I've been learning carnatic violin for the past few years) even though it is not an Indian instrument. I wish you guys could learn about how instruments are played in India like how you learnt about the Ragas! It feels soo good to see you react to these!❤
Rick and Korbin we are thankful to you for spreading our culture, our music etc. Please do more videos on Carnatic and Hindustani classical music.. There are many many talented artists in both the fields and their contribution to their respective art form is just immense. Please continue the good work.
Can u guys react to one more awsome tabla player Pandit Gobinda bose with Iman Sarkar... He is my teacher as well as guru...... Hope u guys react it's my humble request
Ranjani Gayatri are just awesome. the violin and mridangam players are just 👍👍. React to more Carnatic classical videos of yesudas Balamurli or subbalakshmi they are out of the world.
Finally...Have been asking for ages to react to MAHESH RAGHAVAN videos..the guy with the iPad in hand...atleast in this way u got to know him..react more of his stuff on his channel...
@@Saranyan.D nope i didn't feel anything like that. But after seeing your reply, yup we call too soft natured people like that for fun but it has nothing to do with caste. I might even be wrong.
As amazing and wonderful as this was, I wish the video didn't have to cut so many times. Clearly they have shot it multiple times and mixed it, but video feels more produced esp the 3rd singer, it felt it wasn't in sync all the time. Would love to see a live version of this.
Watch the Malayalam movie Premam. If you like Kumbalangi Nights, you will LOVE Premam. Trust me, please watch on Hotstar!! This is the movie that started the great Malayalam movie revolution!
Sir I m your one of biggest admirer when you re react to such kind of thing felt blessed ,I never request you to react On something because whatever you do ultimately liked,, I mention a link in comment time,,, can you react and I m First time requesting
I see no mention about the Subramaniyam siblings- Ambi (violinist) and Bindu (vocalist) who are the son and daughter of the very well respected and supremely talented couple Dr. L Subramaniyam and Kavita Krishnamurthy Ji. Ambi is living up to the family name it seems. It is not even my place to comment on their prowess.
Violinist father was rared by Ny times critic L subramanian as one of the best top violinist US. HE MOVED BACK TO INDIA WHEN HE LOST HIS FIST WIFE. HIS WIFE NOW IS TOP RATED SINGER BUT HAS STOPPED MUCH OF PROFESSIONAL SINGING. STILL DOES OCCASIONAL SINGING.
